This author is someone who takes her readers on an incredible journey with an imagination that truly staggers this reader. I've previously been bowled over by her Revelers series so was expecting a similar format with this series of novellas but instead of several couples telling the story it's just one couple or should that be trio?
Our heroine Ellie has somehow been touched by Shadow (magic) and has spent her life with her own shadow a real and separate entity. Cam is kind of the geeky scientist who Ellie turns to as she is at the point where she feels she needs to lose her shadow permanently . Ellie is attracted to Cam from the start but unfortunately whatever she feels is only magnified by her totally outrageous shadow. Not only is Ellie's shadow brazen and lacking in shame she is also fierce, unafraid and dangerous.
As these novellas progress the reclusive Ellie works alongside Cam who turns out to be pretty kickass himself at times! The institute Cam works for constantly face the dangerous Fae but there are also Mages working in the background and there are even those who seek to enslave mankind. Does Ellie find a way to lose her shadow? Just how far will Cam go in order to claim all of the woman who he is increasingly falling in love with? There no easy answers I'm afraid but it's a journey full of mystery, darkness and of course romance.
If honest at first I wasn't that impressed by Cam and his actions left a bad taste in my mouth. He did win me over eventually but Ellie's backstory was truly poignant and with just a few words the author captured how awful it had been. Ellie grows as a character to the point where she is completely underestimated by those around her and as for her shadow , well read this series and decide for yourself !
Set over fourteen months this set of novellas tell a unique and dark story and I'm so glad I got the chance to follow it

It's dark and suspenseful with just the right touch of romance and humor to offset.

"Shadow is on the move," a soldier said suddenly....
"We spotted her in the West atrium, then she vanished into the unfinished apartments. Scared the shit out of Dr. Marea on four, then ended up in the kitchen ogling a cheesecake."

SHADOW TOUCHED by Erin Kellison is a superbly unique short story compilation. It's set in our world at a time when Shadow aka dark magic is moving into the norm. Shadow originated in Twilight; Twilight is the place between life and what comes after—a dark forest of fantasy, filled with beauty, peril and mystery -and the home of the Fae. Erin previously blew me away with her Reveler series and SHADOW TOUCHED does it, again. I've never read anything like this. It's dark and suspenseful with just the right touch of romance and humor to offset.

This set of stories represent the life story of Eleanor "Ellie" Russo and Doctor Cameron "Cam" Kalomos. I liked both leads. Ellie was an anomaly - born with her shadow unattached. She was raised by her grandmother after both her parents had abandoned her - unable to cope with her and her footloose shadow. Her Grandmother had been good to Ellie. She had moved to a rambling old farmhouse in the wide open spaces outside Phoenix to raise her - so Ellie didn't have to cope with the limelight until recently when her Grandmother passed. However, life has become unbearable for Ellie. Her shadow acts on instinct rather than reason, is much more feral, has been gaining strength and refuses to abide by Ellie's wishes. Ellie is at her wit's end and has sought the help of Doctor Kalomos and the Segue Institute to make her and her shadow completely autonomous. Here's a short description about the Segue Institute:

The Segue Institute was the preeminent research organization for all things paranormal and it was housed in a haunted, renovated turn of-the-century hotel. The place was supposedly loaded with what the scientists there called Shadow, capital S, a scary word for magic. Dark magic.

SHADOW TOUCHED includes four novellas that combined equal the full story of Ellie and Cam. Each story drew me in more as dark magic gained a stronger foothold in our world and Ellie and Cam developed a relationship that was much more than that of a subject and her researcher. Following please find a short description of each novella.

In SHADOW TOUCH, the first novella, we are introduced to Ellie, Cam, the Segue Institute and the situation with Ellie and her shadow. An expert's controversial help is sought to assist.

SHADOW PLAY, the second novella, takes place a few months after SHADOW TOUCH. Cam and Ellie have been working together seeking ways to control and work with her shadow. It is not easy for Ellie. Then... the emergency assistance of the Segue Institute is requested to rescue a child who has been lured into Twilight. Ellie is determined to aid the child's distraught mother. This tale introduces the Mages.

SHADOW HUNT is the third novella. It begins with an horrific murder at the Segue Institute. Cam, now fae-touched, and Ellie are determined to bring the murderer to justice which entails a dangerous, action-packed visit to the domain of one of the Mages' houses. The situation definitely get more threatening in this installment. Cam, Ellie and her shadow must learn to work together to survive.

SHADOW BURN is the final and previously unpublished novella. It's teeming with fast-paced, high-stakes action and heart-felt passion. I was on the edge of my seat for much of it. Have no fear, though - the author deftly wraps Cam's and Ellie's story up with a happy, tidy bow - so the reader is left with a smile.

When I started this book, I was unaware that this set of novellas were off-shoots from Erin's Shadow series - which I have not read. It took me a bit to become acclimated to the setting - but, truly, not that long as the author does fill in any necessary information from what had previously transpired in the Shadow series. However, reading SHADOW TOUCHED has whet my appetite to go back and read her Shadow series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this set of novellas and am fascinated by the encroaching Shadow. I can't wait to read more stories set in this world. I would highly recommend SHADOW TOUCHED to anyone who enjoys dark paranormal urban fantasies. Just be prepared for a roller coaster ride!

My Review:
Yes! Yes! Yes! I am so partial to the Shadow series. I am thrilled about this book. I am so excited we get more from Kellison. She's been a favorite of mine since I first discovered her work. Shadow Touched is Touch, Play, Hunt and Burn packed into a single novel which is fantastic because I love having the whole story together in one place. I can't begin to describe how happy I am. I love El and Cam. <3

Oh Ellie and Cam......what a deliciously dark romance !!!

From start to finish I was entranced with this tale its just has it all !! Paranormal's galore.....what more could I want ?.

Its an amazing paranormal fantasy....yes, that's how I would describe this series. I had a new appreciation for the term "me and my shadow" after reading this story line !!!

Ah Cam, you scientific hunk of Dr you ! This love affair is a slow burn that builds in heat. I appreciated that as I don't always enjoy the whole "insta love" notion.....more like "insta lust"....moving on....

Definitely this series is one to be checked out !!

Well done Erin !

Many thanks Netgalley for this opportunity.

Later peeps xx

I loved returning to the world of Shadow with this collection of novellas, that I have been wanting to read for a long time now. Though I didn't feel the connection between Cam and Ellie as intensely as I did between those in the Shadow and Shadow Kissed series, I still really enjoyed their story.

Erin Kellison puts together Ellie and Cam’s story in a span of four wonderful books. Where does a young woman that’s been basically a recluse, because of her shadow oddity go for help? To a Dr.Cam Kalamos of course, a scientist researching shadows.

Though Cam feels he is out of his element with Ellie’s shadow, the shadow is a bit out of his spectrum that he is use to. Both Cam and Ellie will work at trying to gain control of the shadow, because yeah the shadows does just what she wants when she wants.
So is Ellie’s shadow dangerous?

There always seems like there is some organization/fraction bent on containing and enslaving the human society. The security of the Institute is tested when a dark mage makes its appearance. There is definitively dark and dangerous at work.

I enjoyed all 4 books, I liked the chemistry between Cam and Ellie ( I loved her shadow )). A good balance of detail, story line and characters. This will def be on my list as a re-read. We only re-read books we’ve enjoyed. (smiles).

Shadow Touch
Shadow Play
Shadow Hunt
Shadow Burn

The three previously published novellas and the new one which wraps up this miniseries all follow the same couple: Segue scientist Cam and Ellie - a woman whose shadow is a separate being who is Ellie's more primal self.

This wasn't quite what I expected, having recently finished the author's Revelers series I was expecting this to feature multiple couples and honestly while I loved Cam I wasn't all that thrilled with Ellie or her Shadow self. I've read just enough of Kellison's previous Shadow series to be familiar with the world and that I recognized the crossover characters so that was sort of fun.

So overall this was pretty good but of Kellison's series Revelers is still my favorite, though I am really looking forward to her new dragon series.

A compilation of four novellas put together to make one complete novel. A fun read with lots of character growth and changes that is perfect to read when you're between series. It takes place in the Shadow world of Kellison's books but if you haven't read them you won't feel left out, this is a standalone novel.

*** I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review, which was originally published on book blog Will Read for Feels.

I’ve always loved psychology, as a subject, ever since I took my first class in junior year high school. So the idea of a woman whose id existed outside her body, as a shadow twin driven by impulse, was instantly intriguing to me. Eleanor “Ellie” Russo, the heroine of Shadow Touched, a compilation of four novellas that follow a continuing story line, and her shadow immediately captured my attention and interest.

Her struggles to first restrain her mirror self and then to accept it as part of herself left me both amused and sympathetic. I tried to imagine what it would be like to have a shadow version of myself following me around and telling the world all my secrets, not to mention acting on all my emotions. For one thing, I would never, ever, ever again be able to read a racy book when there are other people about, and I’ve been very happy that ebook readers have let me do that no matter what’s shown (or what’s ripped) on the cover—oh, you know, like the cover of this book! That alone made me sympathize with Ellie’s plight.

Then there’s Dr. Cameron Kalamos. He was all nerdy and even wearing a World of Warcraft shirt and so confused by Ellie’s relationship with her shadow at first, but by the end of the first novella, it’s clear he’s accepted her to a degree she hasn’t even achieved for herself. Over the course of the next couple of novellas, they run into problems that seemingly are caused by the uniqueness of Ellie’s situation but, at the root of them are the sort of trust, communication, and partnership issues common to just about every relationship. Or maybe I read too much into this because my brain had retreated into Psychology 101 mode.

While the first novella centers around Ellie’s unique situation, but the following three draw them ever deeper into the world Kellison has built, which I learned after I’d read the book is featured in several other novels by the author. There’s some action (especially since Ellie’s shadow kicks major butt) and, eventually, political maneuvering. I’m not sure how much I can reveal about the second through fourth novellas without spoiling the ones that come before them.

I think the entire story put together by the four novellas would have made an excellent novel; however, I think reading it as it was delivered in one volume might have made the pacing a little awkward. I had to keep reminding myself as I read that each novella was meant to be released individually to make up for the jumps in the timeline and the repeated explaining of some of the elements in the world that had been covered in earlier novellas.

I quite enjoyed the series, and I think if I’d read each novella individually I would have scored this a bit higher, as I did like the world Kellison built, and I was intrigued enough by the supporting characters and the much-talked-about Shadowman (about whom she has another book) to want to read their stories. But I feel like I would have liked it more if I’d read the novellas individually. If you tend to take breaks as you read a full-length book, I think this would give you a few natural ones, so the issue I ran into might not apply to you. But if you tend to read a whole book in one go, just prep yourself for the slight skips in the story that come naturally as one novella ends and another begins.

The issue above, however, doesn’t mean you should bypass this book if what I described in the first part of this review intrigues you and/or if you’re interested in the fae, magic imposing itself on the contemporary world, and evil power wielders threatening humanity. It might just mean you might want to start with a different book set in the same world for your introduction to it before you get around to reading this one. I know I am planning to check out the other stories.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is a bunch of shorter reads now made into a compilation showing the journey of Cam and Ellie. It is complete and standalone, although I think there are some auxiliary novels that I haven't read in the series. There might be spoilers in my review along the way because it was impossible to talk about all 4 books without discussing the endings of the previous ones. Sorry!

Ellie is out of options when she shows up at Cam's work. She has lived her entire life with a shadow that is separate from her body. Her life has been spent outside of regular society because who could explain a naked shadow of yourself doing all the things you secretly want to do. It is literally a manifestation of her inner self. Uncontrollable and separate, Ellie is desperate enough to try the shadowy institute where Cam works to try to sever the ties. In the first installment, we watch Ellie struggle interacting with even more than one person at a time. We also get to see Cam go out of his way to protect and understand Ellie. What they both believe is Shadow (i.e. Fae) related ends up being something that Ellie may just have to live with and accept. There are angels, fae, wraiths, and all sorts of other goodies lurking in this new world and Ellie just might be one of the strongest.

In the second book we watch the couple continue to grow together. Ellie is now a member of the group, but she is struggling to find her place with Cam and the others. Her shadow, now linked, is only just starting to accept her new place as well. By employing the couple in an investigation to save a child, Ellie and Cam are pushed to the limit and changes occur that cannot be undone. At the end, they are made stronger by their choices and where this journey has taken them.

By book 3 we get introduced to mages who are pretty much the big bad now. They've slaughtered innocents and are still protected by their archaic rules. Cam and Ellie are identified as the two most likely to hunt down their friend's killer while maintaining the peace between the races. Well... they fail pretty spectacularly, but where would we be for book 4 if they all hugged at the end?

In book 4 we are totally at war. The mages are still sort of hiding their involvement in the attacks, but it's all pretty obvious. As things are rapidly escalating, the group is forced to either step up and fight or get killed. With their options dwindling, Cam and Ellie are once again tasked with stopping this war. Their relationship is put to the test and we (thankfully) get rewarded with a great HEA for these two.

Shadow Touched, by Erin Kellison, is a four book boxed set including Shadow Touch, Shadow Play, Shadow Hunt and Shadow Burn. In it, Kellison captures the escalating battle between good and evil, Shadows and shadow, humans and dark fae. It, much like her Reveler serial, starts out slowly, innocuously. It's the calm before the storm, and she brings it like few authors can. As a set, these books can standalone and have an HEA. But while the battle is won, the war is just beginning.

Alert!! Spoilers ahead!
Book One, Shadow Touch, introduces Ellie Russo, a reclusive young woman who seeks out help for her increasingly dangerous other half. She has read about Dr.Cam Kalamos, who is researching Shadow, so she drives herself and her out of control and disembodied shadow to the Segue Institute (where science met magic) to meet with him. When guards at the gate see Ellie's naked and mischievous shadow, they perceive it as a threat. But it turns out her shadow is only dangerous when Ellie is threatened, which they soon learn. Ellie wants to be rid of her shadow, but a representative of the Order has other plans for the two of them.
Book Two, Shadow Play, begins four months later. Ellie has been working with Cam at Segue to gain control of her shadow when a call comes in that a child has been taken into Twilight, the Other world, at a vortex near Sedona. They arrive at the scene to find a distraught mother and a black eyed child, a changling fae that looks like the missing boy, except for the eyes. A trade. They question the fae, but a dark mage with the talent of invisibility and a daggar of certain death attacks. And Ellie will come close to getting her wish to be separated from her shadow.
Book Three, Shadow Hunt, begins seven months later and brings an increase in the powers of both Ellie and the now fae touched Cam. They know the fae are preparing for the subjugation of humans and visit the House of Martin in an effort to find and kill Slight, a dark mage who breached the security of Segue and killed one of their own. Slight is without the protection of a house, but it is obvious he is in league with Martin and Segue cannot let his crime go unpunished without looking weak, inviting attack.
Book Four, Shadow Burn, begins with a sustained assault on Segue' s supply lines of food and provisions. While they have no proof Martin House is behind the attacks, the signs point in that direction. And Cam and Callie will have to face off with the Martin's war trained dark mages once again to protect the friends they have grown to love at Segue.

Shadow Touched is a collection of the previously released Shadow Touched novellas Shadow Touch, Shadow Play, and Shadow Hunt with one surprise. The final story, Shadow Burn is also included.

In the first part, Shadow Touch, we are introduced to Cam, a Segue Institute employee where they study Shadow, the magic from Twilight (Twilight is home to the Fae). Ellie, our heroine, has a unique problem. Her shadow can exist separately from her, but is much more feral. She’s having trouble controlling her shadow and goes to Segue for help. While there, she and Cam develop more than just a researcher/subject relationship.

Shadow Play picks up a few months after Shadow Touch. Cam and Ellie are working on their relationship and still trying to find a way to control her shadow, and Ellie is having a very hard time accepting who and what she is. She really kind of hates her shadow self. When Segue is called in to help rescue a child who is lured into Twilight, the action and unique storytelling take over full force, and then we meet the new supe-group in our wonderful world, the Mages.

Shadow Hunt is slightly darker than the first two, and even more action-packed and suspenseful. Cam and Ellie are dealing with the Mages and things get interesting. Cam is having trouble controlling the Shadow within him, and Ellie is still unsure what will happen with her relationship with Cam, especially since her shadow now plays a predominant role and her shadow self and Cam have their own unique type of bond.

Shadow Burn, the final, previously unpublished work was the perfect culmination of it all… Loads of action, emotion, and heart round out this wonderful bundle.

The Shadow series and its spin-offs remain one of my absolute favorites and I highly recommend this book (and Erin’s others) to all UF and PNR readers.

I think that this series is best when you have already read the Shadow series first so it really establishes the world for you. Shadow Touched series is really an offshoot of the Shadow series and I'm thinking you probably want me to stop saying "shadow" about now. ;) Seriously though, the first series should not be missed and really sets you up for this book. This one has all the books of the offshoot including the latest book, Shadow Burn. I did read the first 2 books previously (review for those here ) but reread them since it had been awhile. These are fun novella length stories so you should easily go from one book to the next. Plus, they are all here in one book! WIN!

It was easy for me to slip back into this world. I had forgotten much of the first book but quickly caught up. I was captivated with the last 2 stories I hadn't read. This is Ellie and Cam full story and even though the books are short, they pack a full punch. You are not wanting for a longer book to fill in the storyline. You may want one longer only so you can stay in this world, but not needing more plot or answers. I also liked how in the end some of the roles are a bit reversed with our couple and more insight into the other is gained. The last story ends in a satisfying way and I'm only sad because it was so complete we probably won't get more of this couple

I give this book 4 1/2 stars. It is a fun book which needs to be read by Shadow fans. You can dive in without reading the first series but I highly recommend that series so don't skip it. PNR and UF fans should also like this adult series.

What a dramatic opening this book had. It got my attention as I was mesmerized by the introduction of Eleanor and the events surrounding her meeting Cam. The book is filled with parts that were so surreal that my mind wanted to slam on the brakes and spend time solving the phenomena that was occurring. It is one of the few paranormal books that really caused me think wow...what if, how who I react, what would I do, but why, etc.

Further more, descriptive scenes draw the reader into the story making the reader feel like they are each of the characters in the book. A good example is when the author was describing Cam while he was learning to handle his new gift. I actually felt like I was him going through the process and seeing through his eyes all the things that he was struggling with in bright 3D color.

When reading most often there is a part of you that wants to lean towards either the hero or the heroine more but in this book I felt they were very balanced and in fact complemented each other.

The story does keep the reader on their toes trying to figure out the mystery of who the real villains are and whether Eleanor would get what she wished for. Reader's don't worry this book will keep your interest till the very end and is worth the read.

Shadow Touch, the first novella was released June 2011. And I loved it. Then came the next two in 2012 and 2013. I had to wait till Jan 2016 to get the last installment, Shadow Burn. Now it wasn't that bad of a wait because each novella has a complete story and no cliff hangers. But lucky you! The whole four novella series has been released at once.

I adore the Shadow world Erin has created. You know I like them dark and this one is definitely that, but don't worry...they have HEAs. Not only do I like the story, but I also love the way Erin writes. I've mentioned this many times, but Erin's novellas are the standard I measure all novellas too. You really do get a complete novel experience in 100 pages (give or take). I'll stop gushing now, but I did warn you I was a fangirl...

The four Shadow Touch novellas are one continuous story. It is fast moving, action packed with a dark edge. The romance is sexy, dangerous and passionate. Cam and Ellie are naive about the Shadow world in the beginning, but they both get pulled in and changed (for the better? Not saying). While dealing with their own issues there is the threat of the Mages. Segue (where Cam and Ellie work) is now at war with one of the Mage houses.

Shadow Touched by Erin Kellison is a compilation of three previous novelettes plus a new one. Perfect together with the new concluding bonus of Shadow Burn. It is a treat indeed! Riveting, thrilling, and even exhilarating dark paranormal romance read.

Again, Erin Kellison creates an amazing world with characters with unusual abilities and issues. The plot is well constructed with surprises and twists. This is intriguing, fresh and original. Nothing is ever quite as it first seems with her stories including the doctor and his some-what patient in the beginning. Their relationship slows builds intensifying with each novelette until it reaches a perfect conclusion in the final epilogue.

Shadows, wraiths, mage, oh my! Not to be missed by paranormal fans. Erin Kellison is a master mage who does her magic with the written word.

I had read Erin Kellison's Shadow and Shadow Kissed books so I enjoyed venturing back into this complex and entertaining world. Erin Kellison's world building is always complex, interesting and entertaining.

Shadow Touched is 3 previously released novella's and one new novella all centering around Ellie who is separate from her shadow. The two are intertwined but separate and have different values and ideas on how to live. Ellie goes to Cam for help as he is a scientist who studies shadows.

The book weaves magical houses, the Fae, a human institute, and wraiths into the stories. Ellie and Cam's relationship grows throughout the novella's as both face changes and danger.

I thoroughly enjoyed these novellas and the world that Erin built. While the 4th book wrapped up some plot points it still didn't have a final ending feel. It was also nice to catch up on characters from the Shadow books.

This book was gifted to me from Net Galley in return for a fair review.

This is the box set of novellas 1-4 in the Shadow Touch series. The reader follows Ellie and Cam as they learn to come to terms with Ellie's Shadow and Cam's gift. The stories flow from one book to the other, giving continuity to the storyline and characters. Although Cam changes and grows within this set, the character who grows the most is Ellie. She goes from strength to strength and yet is constantly underestimated by those around her, including Cam.

With an interesting storyline and excellent world-building, this is a set very different from anything of Erin Kellison's that I have read before. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would like to return to this world at some point.

One of the fun things about dipping back into the world of Shadow is realizing you have a book or two in the previous series you haven't read yet. Yessssss.

As for this set of stories... Cam and Ellie have some rather big obstacles to work around. Part of it is them coming to terms with their own issues and part is the crazy that's heading their way. The world is in the middle of some big changes and nobody's coming out of this unscathed. Least of all these two.

I genuinely like the insanity that's brewing and the way the people are forced to adapt. It's not all sunshine and roses. In fact, it's downright brutal at times. And that's what makes it fun.

Shadow Touch Books 1-4

When Eleanor Russo goes to the Segue Institute to seek help from the world's top Shadow expert, what she doesn't expect is to be locked up on site. She cannot control her own shadow, the wild, seductive half of her. What no one else seems to understand is that her shadow is dangerous. Even the institute doctors don't really believe that she can truly separate herself until they see her for themselves. Dr. Cam Kalamos is assigned to Ellie's case, but he's intrigued by her shadow. He truly believes that Ellie can control her shadow and that she is willfully letting it off the leash.

This story is about the darkness inside each of us and the "what if" factor when we let it loose.

This is a box set of Books 1 through 4 of the Shadow Touch Series by Erin Kellison. Shadow Touched is a dark, paranormal romance that begins slowly but all too soon picks up the pace and draws you into the author’s world. The main characters Cam and Ellie are a delight, and with crossover characters making their appearances as the battle between good and evil wages on, you can’t help but appreciate Ms. Kellison’s writing and delivery of an incredible story that will please lovers of the paranormal.

Shadow Touched is the compilation of four novellas into one book. Cam is studying the Shadow, a fae magic. Ellie contacts him with a unique problem her shadow can exist separately from her and she is unable to control it. Cam and Ellie grow closer as they work together to get her shadow under control. This is a fast paced story with lots of drama and suspense. The chemistry between Cam and Ellie is great and the story grows more intense with each novella an enjoyable read.

I received a copy from NetGalley for an honest review.

LOVED IT!!!! I couldn't seem to stop reading!

Ellie was born with her shadow being a separate entity and wants it to go away. She has no control over her shadow who is always naked and not at all concerned about anything but herself.

Very interesting concept of what the shadow actually is. Totally made me wonder what life would be like living like that, scary and freeing at the same time.

An interesting twist on the paranormal. Liked the world Ms. Kellison created, but didn't realize until the end that this was a 3rd or 4th in a series. I liked the book, but felt a little lost at times. Reading the earlier works most likely would have fixed that. Liked the characters and the storyline.

This is a paranormal romance and my first Erin Kellison book. It starts out somewhat slow but quickly gets very exciting. This is a box set of about 336 pages total which I found that once you start reading you have a hard time putting this book down. I would recommend this book if you like paranormal romance books. I enjoyed having this book and hope that you would too!
