so this book is in two parts;
part one an okay read I would even say four-star read
part two horrible one star
listen I don't mind accidental pregnancy/ secret baby trope but there is always a stupid reason for it...BUT HERE THE REASON IS ... IMMATURE & IRRATIONAL !!
six years they were apart because the heroine after three months of marriage decided that she doesn't really fit in the hero world; he is rich and she didn't know it, it was a fast courtship and marriage after three weeks... she can't deal, leave finds out she is pregnant and DOESN'T TELL a soul...
very very immature and I don't have the patience for it...
the only normal reaction is the hero's sister that is pissed bc the hero was left without a note or explanations so she is frosty when heroine comes back into their life again...

Poppy J. Anderson folge ich schon sehr lange auf Facebook und Co. und bislang fand ich sie immer sehr sympathisch. Obwohl ich in einem Kaufrausch fast sämtliche Bücher von ihr gekauft habe, habe ich leider nur sehr wenige bislang davon gelesen, was ich sehr bedauere, denn ich sollte mir für ihre Bücher deutlich mehr Zeit nehmen. Den Anfang macht hierbei "Nur ein Kuss" und ich muss sagen, dass mich das Buch von Anfang an begeistern konnte.
Die Autorin hat hierbei eine einfache, aber dafür auch sehr angenehme Sprache verwendet, die sich schnell und einfach lesen lässt, sodass ich nur so durch die Seiten geflogen bin. Dadurch, dass die Geschichte in der Gegenwart und in der Vergangenheit erzählt wird, lernt man die Figuren Amy und Patrick nicht nur sehr gut kennen, sondern kann auch eine Weiterentwicklung verfolgen, die es wirklich in sich hat. Die Dialoge sind oftmals unterhaltsam, die Figuren gut ausgearbeitet und die Schauplätze haben mir sehr gefallen und könnten passender nicht sein.
Mit Amy und Patrick lernt man zwei sehr sympathische Figuren kennen, die sich viel zu schnell verliebt und aneinander gebunden haben, sodass die Liebe am Ende durch Unsicherheiten zerbrach. Während Amy Patrick nie vergessen konnte und ihr ein Leben ohne ihn auch nach Jahren noch schwer fällt, scheint es zunächst so, als würde Patrick sein Leben ohne sie sehr gut weiterleben, was jedoch zum Teil mehr Schein ist. Dennoch habe ich mit Amy etwas mehr mitgefühlt, da sie mir direkt sympathisch war, was bei Patrick eher erst später hinzu kam. Durch ihr erneutes Aufeinandertreffen kamen dazu noch einige sehr schöne und romantische Momente, die mir sehr gefallen haben.
Die Liebesgeschichte zwischen Amy und Patrick wird dabei sehr schön erzählt, denn obwohl sich die Autorin dabei an einigen Klischees bedient, wirkt die Geschichte jedoch nie sonderlich kitschig, sondern vielmehr romantisch und authentisch, sodass ich mit ihnen mitfühlen konnte. Allerdings geht es hier nicht nur um eine reine Liebesgeschichte, denn obwohl man hier jede Menge Romantik bekommt, geht es auch um eine Familiengeschichte, bei der auch ein Kind im Vordergrund steht, sodass man hier nicht von einem typischen Chick-Lit-Roman ausgehen kann, bei dem es hauptsächlich um die schnelle Liebe, Make-Up und Kleidung geht.
Das Cover ist sehr schön anzusehen und besticht mit tollen Farben, sodass ich dadurch erst auf dieses Ebook aufmerksam geworden bin. Die Kurzbeschreibung liest sich ebenfalls recht ansprechend und ich habe mich auf einige schöne Lesestunden gefreut, die ich zum Glück auch erleben durfte.
Insgesamt hat mir "Nur ein Kuss" sehr gut gefallen und ich bereue es jedes Mal, dass ich so wenig von dieser talentierten Autorin lese, denn bei ihr bekommt man immer gute Unterhaltung mit sympathischen Figuren und einer interessanten Geschichte, von daher kann ich dieses Buch nur empfehlen und hoffe, dass dieses noch viele Leser finden wird.

It‘s official, I‘m moving to Italy to find me a nice, charming boyfriend!
This was a good enough read. I liked the main characters, Amy and Patrick.
They meet in Rome and spend 3 weeks falling deeply in love with each other. They marry on a whim and go back to his home.
Everything could be perfect, they are young and in love. But they are from different worlds and Amy has a hard time fitting in.
Suddenly there is time jump and we‘re now 6 years later and Amy has just been in an accident with her little daughter and she needs Patrick’s help desperately!
I usually don‘t have a problem with time jumps but here I felt like something was missing. I never really got to understand why Amy left and kept her pregnancy a secret. I know she felt a little uncomfortable in her new environment but we never see any fights or the supposed lies his friend and coworker told her. It‘s all just a big blank gap.
I enjoyed the first part of the book where they fell in love in Rome very much but didn’t like how their split was „resolved“.

Ich hätte Amy zwar manchmal am liebsten geschüttelt, aber die Geschichte um die beiden hat mich einfach total berührt. Ich habe sogar geheult, obwohl es gar nicht traurig war, sondern einfach wunderschön.
Das Buch ist einfach perfekt, wenn man was fürs Herz braucht.

I really enjoyed this. I was drawn by the second chance romance aspect of it and was not disappointed.
Amy and Patrick married in haste and Amy felt that Patrick grew to regret it, so she leaves like a thief in the night. Years later Amy is desperate and reaches out to Patrick . When Patrick finds out what Amy has kept from him his hatred is front and center. But you know what they say, there is a fine line between love and hate. Can Amy and Patrick find their way back to each other or will family and business associates keep them apart?
I'm actually interested in book 2 after the excerpt at the end of this book

Mit diesem Band beginnt die Ashcroft-Reihe. Wir erfahren alles rund um die Liebesgeschichte von Amy und Patrick, hoffen, bangen und leiden mit diesen beiden. Einmal mehr wird ersichtlich, dass es so wichtig ist, miteinander zu reden und nicht nur anzunehmen, wie der andere sich fühlen mag, denn die Entscheidung, die man trifft, könnte die absolut falsche sein...
Eine rundum gelungene Liebesgeschichte, die so romantisch in Rom beginnt, zu einigen Fehlentscheidungen führt und dann doch noch in einem Happy End endet, und dabei so spannend geschrieben ist, wie wir es von Poppy gewöhnt sind. Poppys Romane sind nie kitschig - zum Glück - daher zählt sie zu meinen favorisierten Autorinnen in diesem Genre.
Euch kann ich den Auftakt der Reihe empfehlen und gebe gern 84/100 bzw. 08/10 Punkte.

Für mich war das nicht Poppys bestes Buch. Ich mochte die Charaktere, aber insgesamt gesehen hat mir der Klappentext eigentlich schon zu viel verraten, da wird quasi das erste Drittel des Buches schon komplett abgedeckt. Vielleicht hätte ich mich besser auf die Geschichte einlassen können, wenn ich nicht gewusst hätte, was passiert. Zudem halte ich es nicht für realistisch, dass man gewisse Verletzungen einfach so beiseite schieben kann, aber gut. Schreibstil hat wie immer gepasst, und interessieren würde es mich auch, wer die nächste Person in der Ashcroft-Saga ist, also werd ich wahrscheinlich weiterlesen. Drei Sterne von mir.

I read some reviews on this book on Amazon that spoke highly of this book but I just didn’t get the same vibe.
The prologue really got my intrigued with the book but as we get to the middle of part one I just felt empty. I feel like more should have been focused on when they are in NY as none of her actions make sense.
Part 2 was slightly better but still not great, they both didn’t really grovel.
I just felt so much more could have been done with this story, the ideas were there just not executed well

The Premise has merit, the story and writing not so much. Part 2 is a wee bit better than Part 1 which was a total mess. Might be a minority but I'm totally Team Amy despite all her mistakes. Patrick just didn't do it for me.

Interesting storyline but you have to suspend reality a bit to make it work. The H takes his first vacation in forever to Italy and meets the h in Rome. Rapidly progresses to an affair and a marriage all within 3 weeks. Naturally the H is super wealthy and the h is not, he had a lot of family and the h does not, he is socially prominent...and the h is not. Foundation laid for h's insecurities and belief that her actions were based on money or the lack of.
Neither one of them acted like mature adults. The h refused to accept any form of financial support from the H and left after discussions with his best friend! The H flew off for 2 weeks without a word to the H following an argument. Nice.
The surprise gem of the story was the h's mother-in-law. What an admirable woman.
That they were able to reconcile at all is a miracle.

Just masterful. Great characters that jump off the page from the first word. This is not a happy book, although there are certainly joyful moments. It is gritty and realistic.
Sadly, tells a tale too common to not recognize. Opposites in almost every way who become immediately bound to each other, only to let their relationship slip away as have so many others. The author doesn't waste a word in sketching the pain of a wife neglected by a workaholic and attacked by both her husband's meddling family and associates. The husband's insensitivity piles on. They get another chance. Their willingness to slog through their morass of hurt feelings and misunderstanding is well depicted. All said, best read in some time.

I enjoyed the story and the characters were OK but I didn't love them. The romance wasn't straightforward and both the hero and heroine had issues to overcome. A lot of the events and characters' thoughts and behaviors just did not make sense. And there is a big gap in the plot, parts of it didn't seem to really flow, the end was bit rush.

Quite disappointed. I wish this story would be so much more. The awkward time jump makes it even harder to get involved with the MC.
