Turn a Tempest

The storm is approaching. Will it be enough to achieve balance?

Yet again, Chaosta and Dio have been torn apart by brightness, and this time the angels aren’t taking any chances.

While the demons and coven prepare for the upcoming conflict with the help of the band’s fan club, Dio travels back to the old city to attempt to rescue the woman he loves.

Infiltrating the angel’s stronghold would already be fraught with peril, but to make matters worse, the angels are using the magic of Chaosta’s wings to control her. Will she be able to see through the control the angels have over her, or will she believe Dio to be a threat instead of the man she loves?

Will the demons and their makeshift army, whom they formed via a newsletter, be strong enough to stand up to the brightness? Will they all finally be able to return the world to balance?

I can't believe it's over already 😭😭 I adored Turn a Tempest. It was such a beautiful conclusion to the trilogy, and I was not ready for it to end! Chaosta has become so much stronger from the first book to this one, and I loved witnessing her transformation, even from the first page of Turn a Tempest to the last. Every attempt she made to create balance, despite all of the challenges thrown her way, just made her stronger. And the amount of support Dio gave her throughout everything, the things they went through to find each other time and time again, was EVERYTHING. And once the storm finally hit, I was in tears. It was literally the best ending possible. Thank you so much, Charli Nile, for the ARC. You are literally one of my favourite authors ever.

This book is filled with heartbreaking moments, so remember tissues! 😭
Chaosta is dealing with having her memories altered, and her feelings towards her old friends and her love tainted. It is hard to read, but Chaosta is so strong that even in all this she still gets tiny urged to do things to right the balance. Even if that is meddling with the angels' production of weapons.
Healing from amnesia, mind control, and tainted memories can't be easy, and that is a journey that Charli handles with the utmost care. Like I said, it's heartbreaking but also so so good.

Dio is dealing with the loss of Chaosta, the absence, and how to go on. But he never gives up on his undying love for Chaosta. He will save her, no matter the cost. Even if it means letting his monster out, even if it means giving his life.

These two are ✨perfect✨ for each other, because they are not good people. They are villains. They will strike down anyone who stands in their way of their love. They will hurt anyone who hurts their friends. They are also prepared to pay any price, even innocent lives, to right the balance.

It is not all dark and gloomy. There are some very happy moments, I swear! But there is a price to pay to get there.
That price is tears 😭

All the pieces are coming together, the map Chaosta has been following, the Gods' and Goddesses' messages, every step towards balance are finally merging.

So buckle up and strap on your demonblade! It's time to smite some angels and balance the brightness!

Oh what a third book!!! When an urban fantasy romance series has you in its grip and takes you on a thrilling journey that has you holding your breath until the end!
Charli Nile mixed so many different elements and created a unique universe!! You get angels vs demons, enemies to lovers, a great found family and lots of questions to reflect upon.
I think one has to read the books to really understand how interesting the whole concept around the story is.
Some of my favourite parts were the found family aspect, the definition of light and dark and the world building which is really vibrant and immersive.
I also think one of the series’ strong points is the characters! Their dynamics, personal growth, the battles they have to fight and their search for truth.
This is not an easy read as it deals with trauma and dark themes in general but there is this underlying hope woven throughout that has you root for the protagonists!
Reading The Balancing Brightness Trilogy was an emotional rollercoaster! I cried more than I thought I could, it was frustrating but also made me smile when I saw how the characters fought for and were there for eachother.
Ahhh I think I will remember this world for a long time.🥹

Thank you so much Charli Nile and Iris Influencer Society for this ARC!! 💕

This was an absolutely amazing way to end this series. It was one heck of an emotional rollercoaster. I laughed, l got angry, l cried, and then finally ended being happy. Chaosta went through so much from the very first book throughout this one. Chaosta and the boys dealt with so much. It broke my heart. I hurt for her. But seeing this amazing ending, first some happiness in all she endured, put my heart back together again. This was the best ending ever. And I truly loved this entire series.

I finished Turn a Tempest at 2am and just sat there. Staring at the ceiling. Charli Nile, what did you DO to me?

The premise broke me before I even started: angels wiped Chaosta’s memory and turned her into their weapon against Dio. The same Dio who’s currently storming heaven’s gates to get her back. Except she thinks he’s the enemy now.

Yeah. I wasn’t ready.

Dio is the kind of morally grey hero I will go to war for. He’s not “good” in the traditional sense. He’s loyal, brutal, and he would burn the world down for one person. The way he keeps fighting for Chaosta even when she’s trying to kill him? Devastating. I highlighted half his dialogue.

Chaosta’s amnesia arc could have felt gimmicky, but it didn’t. You feel her confusion and the wrongness of everything the angels tell her. Watching her slowly question it, watching her magic rebel against her own mind... I was gripping the book. The Chosen One trope hits different when the chosen one doesn’t want the job.

The supporting cast? Demons, a coven, and a literal fan club newsletter starting a rebellion against heaven. The found family in this series is top tier. I would die for every single one of them.

The pacing is relentless. 373 pages and I swear 200 of them are battle scenes or emotional gut punches. The “Meddling Gods” trope is used perfectly here. The angels aren’t just villains, they’re terrifying because they genuinely believe they’re right. That made it so much worse.

My only complaint is that I have to wait for whatever Charli writes next. The ending wrecked me but also gave me hope. If you love dark fantasy with doomed romance, epic battles, and characters who will haunt you, read this.

Just don’t blame me when you’re emotionally unstable after Slide 7. I mean Chapter 32.

Read if you like: The Serpent & the Wings of Night, One Dark Window, enemies-to-lovers with actual stakes, angels as villains.

CW: violence, memory loss, manipulation, war themes

August 2026 can’t come fast enough.

Turn a Tempest is an amazing conclusion to a series that has continued to surprise me from the very beginning. After the cliffhanger ending of the last book (A Bright Blight), I went into this one with some very high expectations. Charli Nile managed to bring everything together in a finale that feels perfectly suited to the strange, dark, and wonderfully imaginative world she created.

One of my favorite things about this series has always been the way it plays with the traditional ideas of light and darkness. What began in Runes to Rain as a seemingly straightforward conflict between Angels and Demons became so much more complicated. By this final book, it becomes clear that good and evil aren't just determined by which side someone belongs to, but by the choices they make - and even those aren't always that clear cut.

The story also never loses the core themes of identity, belonging, family, and purpose. These have been at the heart of the series from the first, and that's where Turn a Tempest absolutely shines. Alongside those themes, and perhaps more importantly, this book actually feels like an ending. After spending so much time with these characters, I really wanted a conclusion that made the whole journey worthwhile, and this one absolutely delivered. It's exciting, emotional, surprising, and ultimately super hopeful (isn't that what we all really want?).

No spoilers, but Charli wraps everything up in the absolute best of ways. I'm so glad I took a chance on the entire series because Chaosta's strange journey from that dark, polluted world of the first book all the way to this bright and hopeful conclusion has been one hell of an adventure, and I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

This book absolutely destroyed me in the best way possible. 😭💔

Charli Niles really said, "let's emotionally wreck my readers one last time," and honestly? It worked. I laughed, cried, got angry, and then cried some more.

In this final installment, we follow Chaosta and the boys as the long-awaited storm finally arrives. We also learn more about what Chaosta went through during her captivity, and some of those revelations genuinely shocked me. My heart broke for her more than once throughout this book.

As everyone begins trying to rebuild and create a better future, there is a real sense of hope woven through the story. But don't go into this thinking it's all sunshine and happiness. This book takes you on an emotional rollercoaster and isn't afraid to put both the characters and readers through it.

I loved this entire series, but this was easily my favorite book of the trilogy. It wrapped up the story beautifully, gave me the ending I was hoping for, and left me feeling completely satisfied while also nursing a massive book hangover. ❤️📚✨

If you've been invested in Chaosta's journey from the beginning, this finale is absolutely worth the emotional damage. 😭💕

This was one of the best endings to this series. Did I cry? Absolutely. Charli Niles knew exactly how to break my heart.

For the finale, we follow Chaosta and the boys as the long-awaited storm finally arrives. We also learn more about everything Chaosta endured during her time in captivity, and some of those revelations completely shocked me.

With the storm finally here, everyone is trying to start fresh and rebuild, hoping to grow food again and create a better future. While the book does have a happy ending, don't let that fool you. You'll cry, laugh, and get incredibly angry, sometimes all within the same chapter.

I absolutely loved this series, but this final book was my favorite of the trilogy. It delivered everything I wanted in a conclusion and left me completely satisfied, even after putting my emotions through the wringer.

If you haven’t started this series, you need to! This book was such a great conclusion to the series!! I loved the different POV’s, there are multiple. I LOVED Dio’s journal entries. Angels and Demons…yes please. In the final book we get to learn about what happened while Chaosta was held captive. Dio will stop at nothing to get her back. The storm finally comes. But the ending, that ending was perfect. Everyone is rebuilding and we get our HEA, it was the BEST. “Ab imo pectore” ❤️❤️❤️

And here I was thinking the first two books were intense! The twists! The heartache!! The epic battles and action that was all consuming. Gosh the pacing was fast without safety checks. I just adore this series!

🖤urban fantasy
🖤enemies to lovers
🖤 angels vs demons
🖤 touch him/her and die
🖤 found family

There is so much depth to this world. The emotional damage was relentless. The forbidden love, yearning and the way things just don’t go to plan. My heart.. I just love Chaosta and Dio 🖤

Nile did not shy away from devastation, heartache and bliss. I felt like the waves of emotions were so all encompassing. It was a brilliant end to the trilogy 🖤🖤

Thank you author and Iris Influencers for the ARC 🖤 all opinions are my own
