I don't really know where to start with this review, since I feel like my rating went up and down and then up again during my read.

First of all, the writing is colourful and imaginative. The unique cast of characters grows on you and there is a big chance you will end up with a chunk of favorites - mine being Misha and Naughty Nathalee. The world seemed like it would be awesome, and that's where we arrive to my first problem with this book; we didn't really get to explore the world.

I get that we're at a ship in the middle of the sea most of the time, but I really wanted some more world-building. Some explaining. What is this weer-power really? Are there more magical creatures than just sprites and dragons? Port Vert??

Also, at times, this book is more sex than plot, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, if you ignore the fact that the main character is basically forced into the sexual acts, even if they enjoy them afterwards. Fortunately, there is more sex in the first part than the last, and maybe it would have been better to just spread it evenly out. Also, it being actually consensual would have also helped.

The Incorrigible apparently takes place over just three days, which I found hard to believe. I had started to get attached to the crew and the Incorrigible, but I read this book over quite a long span of time. I can't imagine getting as attached to a large group of people as Jean did in such a short time. Well, they did go through some things together.

Something else I must add is that there is a lot of representation in this book. The author doesn't forget anyone - there is of every race, sex, age and sexuality. There is even a dead guy. However, after careful consideration I don't know if I consider it to be well done; I've read that some transpeople consider the depiction of the the trans character in this to be extremely offensive, and after only needing to think about it for a tiny moment, I wholeheartedly agree. Here is a link to a review by a transperson who sums it up much better than I ever could.

That, alongside with the fact that Jean had to chose between having sex with people and um, death, which was later sexualised and made to look hot, makes me feel deeply uncomfortable with rating this book higher. All in all, I did enjoy the authors writing and idea a lot, but in my opinion the actual execution failed to reach that initial potential.

I was super stoked to read this book wen I first heard about it.
Everything about seemed so promising... Pirates, queers and smut. All at once!
Little did I know just how disappointing a read it would be.

I really hope that the author made a whoopsie when refering to Jean as "honeytrap".
The term "trap" is commonly used to degrade and dehumanize trans women by suggesting that aren't real women but rather con artists "tricking" (straight) men into having sex with them.

This, and the fact that Jeans best friend is outed (and misgendered by the author, mind you) only so that the reader knows what body parts they have, makes me uncomfortable as heck while reading.
It doesn't feel like it's written for trans people, but rather people fetishizing trans people.
Maybe it's just crappy writing, but I have my doubts.

I also find it weird that the sex scene between the two trans characters is the only one that isn't written. It's only mentioned, in very broad terms, and without any real insight.
It almost feels like their sexualities are viewed as unimportant/irrelevant when they aren't used to satisfy cis people.

And I can't ignore the fact that the (only) trans feminine character (aka Jean) is defined by their fucking. And that they kinda wants to fuck everyone.

This is problematic since we live in a society where trans people in general and trans women in particular get hypersexualized, and/or reduced to sexual objects. This book fails to challenge that perception.

I get that it's smut and that a lot of the things in it are shallow, but transphobia is transphobia.
The author could have prevented this by doing better research and trying to keep their blood in their brain instead of their genitals.

This book is harmful to trans women. Cis people reading it will only get their prejudices confirmed.

Apart from the transphobia, it's a little bland.
The sex scenes aren't that interesting or creative. They're somewhat normative actually.
If there's one cunt and one cock, the cock usually ends up in the cunt.
If there's a bigger and a smaller cock, the person with the smaller cock will bottom.
Penetration isn't super exciting to read about.
Why not write something steamy about muffing, tribadism or petting (that doesn't lead to penis-in-vagina)?

It's a shame that the sex scene between Jean and their best friend wasn't described in detail, I bet it would've been great.

I know I'm being very harsh in my review here, but I think it's called for.
Trans people exist outside your sexual fantasies, we read books too.
And we deserve better representation than this.

Erotica, pirates, dragons - what's not to like!
I really enjoyed this read. It was entertaining from start to finish with a great host of characters and lots of saucy bits.
It's also wonderful to read an erotic book with such a rich and detailed fantasy world.
I have previously read Anne Rice's The Sleeping Beauty trilogy and this book sort of reminded me a bit of it. The fantasy setting and the pan-sexual aspect really frees the mind up and adds a whole new dimension to the erotica. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author:D

Wonderful pirate smut

If you like me need a bit of light fun reading in the current darkness you have found the right book.
This books is queer, poly, sex positive, pansexual pirate smut. It also has magic, dragons, dancing and music. It's a lovely fun light hearted read and was just what I needed. I hope to get more from the author.

The best way I can describe this book is unfinished. It doesn't feel complete, like the author gave up halfway and just published a draft.

The plot is absolutely ludicrous, making this book a funny and not so serious read, which is probably why I enjoyed it; I couldn't take it seriously.

Now, the representation: the main character never stuck me as trans, they always struck me as more genderfluid or genderqueer. I didn't realise they were trans until I read it online, but if they are trans then that is absolutely HORRIBLE representation.

3,5 ⭐️ I really enjoyed the story line and the use of language to set the pirate vibe 🏴‍☠️ I had hoped for more smut (and it to be more graphic), so that’s why it felt a little disappointing to me, but I’m also new to smut, so maybe that’s why. But I still enjoyed the story and I really loved the characters! Also of course a huge plus with all the consent and showing that consent is fucking sexy!

Loved it.
No, really!
It was awesome!
It was sexy!
It was... hilarious!

The same night as the town of Port Vert is destroyed by dragons a young woman is taken by a vicious pirate gang, thereby surviving the attack.
Not soon after she's "rescued" by another group of pirates and gets the chance to join their crew. Not as a pirate, but as their lover. And please note, whatever happens is with her consent!
We soon learn that the ship she's recruited to is the infamous Incorrigible. A pirate ship where most of the crew is said to be sorcerers with mystical powers. We also learn that the young woman is really a young man, and that he's also got some powers as well. Powers that might come in handy as the lover of an entire ship of horny pirates of all sexes and preferences.

Lot's of piratey-talk, magic, interesting characters with a bit more depth than I'd expect as well as dragons, action and smut. Lots and lots and lots of well described erotica!
The book really feels like an excuse to write awesome, sexy and, above all else, fun erotica! And it really does succeed!
Most of the scenes are beautiful, emotional and fun to read. I've probably been chuckling just as much as sweating while reading it.

The only reason it doesn't get five stars is the ending:

Bah, I still loved it.
Now I'm just waiting for a sequel.
