Humanism: The 10 Most Asked Questions: Plus 75 More Short Q's and A's

Rate this book
The number of humanists in America is high and growing rapidly. One in five of us fits the humanist definition. Many of the world’s most accomplished people are humanists.

Thousands of people have questions about humanism but are unwilling to wade through an extensive volume. However, they might want to quickly scan 75 short questions to see if the subject really holds any interest for them.

Among the points this little book emphasizes is that humanism is not a religion, just a way of thinking. And that a person does not have to believe in a supernatural being to be a good person and lead a good life.

For busy inquisitive people, this is a quick introduction to humanism.

An introduction to humanism

This is a good short introduction to the subject of humanism. Author differentiate humanism from main religions. Many would argue with or against the latter. Muslims occupied Spain over 500 years introducing art and science but ended up swimming the Mediterranean back to Africa. The same with Crusaders and Palestine but this time swimming back to Europe. Humanism may partly be the outcome of religious wars?

Clear, concide, brilliant book.

An excellent book. It provides clear, concise answers to all the questions people ask about being humanist. Highly recommended for humanists, teachers, governments, religious leaders, students, workers, old, young, etc

This was a quick read, and a good little intro to humanism. The book also lists a number of famous humanists, an interesting group. Thanks for this.

A short introduction/refresher to humanism. Easy to read, easy to understand. Contains a list of links to resources (some of them, unfortunately, out of date).

Truth can't be silenced by fear.

The book is worth reading and tackles questions most people are uneasy to ask yet, the answer given are easily understood.

Read and agreed to all definitions.

A somewhat simplistic view into the many nuances of this subject matter. Very simple explanations of a philosophy of life that I do hold dear. Very identifiable and welcoming approach to our lives.

It helped give me a clearer understanding of what humanism is, and it also gave pages of peoples' names who believe in this same philosophy.
