Kathryn Freeman is a narrative painter who combines classical composition with magic realism. Freeman’s paintings have been exhibited in galleries in Europe and across the United States, including New York, Los Angeles, London, Boston, Washington and Baltimore. Her paintings are in numerous private and public collections, and she has completed several large-scale public mural commissions including two, three-story murals for the Main Public Library in Jacksonville, Florida designed by AM Stern Architects, which opened in November 2005. Freeman has been the recipient of an Ingram Merrill Fellowship, an Elizabeth Greenshield Foundation Fellowship and three, Maryland State Council of the Arts Individual Artist Awards. Her work has been reviewed in The New York Times, Arts Magazine, Art Forum, American Artist and numerous other publications. Freeman has also illustrated several children’s picture books including Loon Chase, by Jean Heilprin Diehl, published by Sylvan Dell. Freeman has taught drawing and painting at the Corcoran since 1996. Previous to that she taught at the New York Academy of Art and Brooklyn College. She received her MFA from Brooklyn College and BFA from the University of New Hampshire. She also studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. I had really high hopes for this one but unfortunately I didn't mesh with it. I started off with the physical book but then moved to the audiobook because I found I could pay attention more to the story.
The characters were fun and there was some good character growth between the FMC and the mc. However, the constant bringing up of the age gap took away from the story for me. Also, I was hoping for a longer moment of the Nantucket fling setting.

4.5 stars. This book honestly took me for a loop. Not what I was expecting but ended up loving every second. It even made me cry in the end. Such a wholesome romance book. Oh to be loved by a man who won’t give up on the relationship.

I went into this book blind but figured it was going to be a cute little vacation fling vibe. Wow this book truly was such a pleasant surprise. I was not expecting the ride it took me on.
Olivia is a career driven woman who only has her eye on moving through the corporate ranks and getting this huge promotion at her job. She reluctantly heads to Nantucket for two weeks for her nieces wedding where she meets this carefree chef who keeps taking her breath away. She lets Connor know this can only be a holiday fling because she does not have any free time out her career. What she was not expecting was the next two weeks showing her how beautiful life can be when you let loose sometimes. Connor is ok with the holiday fling because he is actually a single dad back home and does not have any time to pursue anything romantically.
I loved seeing the character growth of both Olivia and Connor. Connor truly showed Olivia that there can be so much more to life outside your career and sometimes you need to just experience things rather than being too afraid and just saying no. I loved that Olivia gave Connor confidence and helped him realize how harsh he was being on himself and how much pressure he puts on himself. Watching Connor truly understand that there are so many versions of success and it is not just how much money you make was so cute. These two were truly opposites attract and watching them navigate their own growth while trying to navigate their feelings for each other was such a fun ride.

It’s certainly not the worst book I’ve ever read. I think the descriptions were okay to start, but eventually got a bit repetitive (specifically with the smutty bits but how many times can you write the same sex scene in different ways I guess). I’m not into super smutty books so this is kind of a more biased and harsh read so take that into account.
The story overall was okay but it was a bit cliche and maybe a bit too “neat” and wrapped up by the end. It didn’t necessarily feel like the conflict had any weight to it especially since this is typically how these types of books go. Olivia felt like your basic overworked, and rather quite judgmental career woman who swore off love and children for the sake of her work. Which is all well and good but felt like the same cookie cutter characters you could find basically serving as a caricature of a career focused woman, and by the end of it, everything we knew about her was completely turned on its head. I understand basic character development and plot devices but again, it felt way too neat to feel realistic.
It was an okay read with okay characters. (The dialogue was fine but a little bit cringy at times)
If one is looking for an easy read with basic plot and story, this is certainly a good pick. Not necessarily something I’d grab off of a shelf if you’re looking for something original though.

This story was by an author I was unfamiliar with, but the premise sounded like the cozy, feel-good vacation romance I was looking for. There was a ton of character development for both Olivia (Livvy) and Connor which made the plot interesting. It was also fun to see a strong, independent female main character who figured out a way to bridge the gap between what's expected and a reimagining of her dreams.
The host of characters were fun to follow and by the end I found myself getting choked up with emotion. I would definitely recommend this read to others!

I liked the fling part of this book but everything else?! Why is it always the case that when a woman is determined to want a career and not a family, she is being told by everyone around her that her life cannot be fulfilling without a husband and children? Surprise, surprise, the protagonist changed her mind and is married with kids by the end of the book. Ugh. Also the love interest was so thoughtful and into her and she gave him nothing back. No kindness, no generosity, just selfishly toying with his feelings. Ridiculously unrealistic he was still fawning all over her by the end of it. I need to stop picking up library books based on their title and cover...

Wow! This is a perfect summer read. A lot of the romance mirrors my own life in so many ways. And Cape Cod and the islands were our favorite places to vacation. So this book brought up a lot of memories for me.
Beyond that, the writing is lovely. The characters are funny and witty and determined in their own ways. We get real slices of real life along with a lot of laughs and some tears along the way.
I will definitely be reading more of her books

I bought this book one day and finished it the next. It was captivating, absolutely brilliant. I felt brought into the minds of the characters she wrote about. Each move cause for a must have page turn. Thankful to have read this as I start getting back into reading. Definitely one of my favorites.

The changing of the writing style in the epilogue bothered me. But other that that I enjoyed this one better than Booked for the Summer. I always love a main character that is is chef/works in the restaurant industry.

A Nantucket Fling is a sweet, summery romance with lovable characters, heartfelt moments, and just the right amount of tension. A light, feel-good read that left me smiling.

An easy summer fling book. Enjoyed the setting and development of the characters. Definitely a little trope based and easy to figure out. But a nice romance to start your summer reading.
