Amazing book!! It was not so difficult following along this fantasy world and its locations which made it so much more easier to read. Amazing characters and small details in this story that played a big role in the plot and I LOVED. The only reason I am rating it a 4 is because it was hard to connect with the characters in a deeper level due to lack of description in their emotions/feelings when it came to decisions they made or thought about. For example, a big moment happened at the end of the story that I feel was significant, but instead of fully describing to take in the moment and the emotions expressed, it quickly moved to the next scene, which made connecting with the characters a bit difficult. Overall, the entire storyline, and toe-curling ending, was AMAZINGGG. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

Long ago the kingdom of Pharlynd fell trying to protect the Mortal Realm from the darkness. In the centuries since, the battle between light & dark rages on. The princess from the initial war is rumored to be hidden away in Pharlynd & is the only hope left for the Light & Mortals. Sorin, the heir to the Dark Realm, sets off to find this princess to use her for his side of the battle. But as the journey goes on lines get blurred & he must make a decision on where he stands.
The first book in a new dark fantasy series that had me glued to the pages. The world is unique & well thought out. I can definitely see the fairytale vibes/inspiration without it being cheesy. It is thoroughly described to readers in creative ways that fits into the story. It was easy to pick up on the lore & world building even if it seemed intimidating at first.
The romance had me giggling & kicking my feet. I loved these two & like their characters didn’t want their journey to end. I also appreciate the nature of true enemies to lovers in this. I feel like this trope is popular & gets thrown around a lot when it doesn’t fit a story but this is one of the few times it does.
One thing that I absolutely loved was just little Easter eggs weaved into the story. As an Orpheus/Euridyce girly I loved having their story subtly woven into the background of one of the characters. I’m not going to spoil anything even for a characters backstory but I have THOUGHTS on how beautifully it was done. It makes me wonder what other inspirations I didn’t pick up on.
I highly recommend to anyone looking for dark fantasy, slow burn, enemies to lovers & forbidden love. This is such a good read & you’ll be yearning for book two like I am

If you love grumpy x sunshine, dark fantasy, forbidden love, slow burn, and enemies to lovers, I think you'll enjoy Pharlynd! Just a heads up, this is the first book in a series, so don't go in expecting all the answers... that cliffhanger definitely got me...
I really enjoyed how imaginative the world was while still being easy to follow. My favorite part had to be watching Sorin slowly fall for Eira. And there were a few moments where I was so sure the characters had covered their tracks... then they got caught. Those scenes had me stressing because I genuinely had no idea what was going to happen next.
Sorin was easily my favorite character. I felt so bad for him because he never asked for the power he was given, and seeing him struggle with it while questioning his own morals made him such a compelling character.
The beginning took me a little while to get into, and the chapters are pretty long, so it took me longer than usual to get through them. But once I hit the halfway mark, I was flying through the pages. I also would've loved to see Eira play a bigger role, but I'm hoping that's something we'll get more of in the next books.
Overall, I had a really good time with this one. It was a solid start to the series, and I'm definitely curious to see where the story goes next!

This was a book that left me with mixed feelings. I really enjoyed the premise, and I think there's the foundation of a unique fantasy world with plenty of potential.
I found the world-building and timeline difficult to follow at times, which made it harder for me to connect with the characters and their journey. That may simply be my reading experience, but I found myself wishing for a map or glossary to help bring everything together. There is a lot going on in this book.
I found Sorin really intriguing and the ending had me 😱. What!!!
This is the first book in a multiple book series, Overall, while this wasn't quite the right fit for me, I can definitely see the potential in this series and think this could be for readers who enjoy detailed fantasy worlds.

I would like to thank the author for providing me with an e-book.
I struggled at times getting through this book and think I might’ve been the wrong audience for it.
The foundation for a great fantasy was there. Fallen kingdom, epic journey, cursed princess, battle of light vs dark. However, the pacing and character development didn’t work for me. I also struggled with the dialogue between the FMC and MMC.
Perhaps a map would have helped a bit in picturing where the characters were on their journey.
Overall, I’d classify this as a good starter fantasy for teens/young adults.
I struggled at times getting through this book and think I might’ve been the wrong audience for it.

This was an interesting read! Sorin was an easy to like MC - even when you’re not sure if he’s a good guy. I loved how the lines between dark/light get more blurred as the story goes. Definitely a lot of morally gray area to explore. I do wish there was a map for the story though. I sometimes got a little lost of where everything was. And I’m torn between wanting to hear more of Sorin’s emotions and liking how it fits with the darkness inside him. And the romance was easy to fall into and left me really feeling for Sorin at the end.

Well written first book in a new dark fantasy series. It took me a bit to get into this one but the world and Sorin’s story is imaginative and unique so the build up is especially necessary. Loved the slow burn enemies to lovers and forbidden love tension and love story that was built slowly over the book as well. Extremely curious to see where book two goes from where this one left off.

I loved this book so much, I genuinely couldn't put it down it was such a good read and very interesting. I NEED the next book to come out NOW! I need to know if Sorin will end up with her or not cuz omg I'm almost finished and I pray everything goes well.

Wow!! I loved the characters in this book. They felt real in a way that was refreshing to me. Pharlynd is dark, intriguing, a little romantic and entirely enjoyable. I cant wait for the next one!
