Shadowcat Nation #2

Sarai's Fortune

Rate this book
Zac Montclair's first priority is to protect his people. With the escalating war between factions of shifters over land and resources, he has agreed to an alliance between his polar bears and the Shadowcat Nation of cougar shifters. But the treaty comes with a condition…he must accept one of their Seers into his Timik and put her under his personal protection.

Sarai Bouchard doesn't need her supernatural gift to know that Kyle Carstairs's obsession with controlling her ability will eventually result in her misery and demise. Her power is essential to her people's survival, so when Kyle goes rogue, she's sent to Zac Montclair to keep her safe. However, her visions reveal that while staying will lead to their becoming lovers, it also leads to his death. Leaving Zac will result in her own.

If Sarai can't find a way to change the future, she will be forced to choose…save her lover or save herself.

4.5 Yummy Zac Stars

May have spoilers and adorable Polar bear gifs

Sarai's Fortune the 2nd book in the Shadowcat Nation series was amazing. I was so excited for this book when I finished book 1. This book was better than my expectations. I loved Sarai and Zac as a couple. Sarai was just so cute and Zac the big yummy Polar bear.... omg he was sexy! I loved how protective he was. I also love how smart Sarai was. She didn't freak out and do stupid things she solved problems!

Zac and Sarai had a strong connection. There was more passion and heat in this book than there was in book 1 which I enjoyed. But this book was still on the milder side when it came to erotic scenes, so for all my friends that like less sex in books, this is perfect for you. I loved getting to catch up with Andie and Jaxon again. This book had a great plot and a good amount of action. I found myself liking Shane(side character) and wondering about his back story. Overall I really loved this book. I enjoyed every minute of it and thought the peek at Sarai and Zac's future was adorable!

Thanks to Andie and A.J., a new alliance has been formed with the polar bear Timik and the towering hulk, Zac Montclair, alpha leader and great protector has agreed to some give and take with the cougars. The cougars will give him a seer to act as an emissary and he will take care of her. Sarai can see the future, she cannot change what she sees, but can help guide those in her visions to change it themselves. Her visions are clear; unless they involve herself and lately she has been getting flashes of her own future and it is not good. She has decided to go rogue, to protect both herself and those she cares about. But the hulking polar bear has been in her visions, she sees him dying to protect her and her heart won’t allow it. Too bad every attempt or plan she has made to run has been foiled and her heart is in turmoil over keeping the man she finds herself loving safe. Zac is huge in human form, and even bigger as a polar bear, powerful, yet gentle, fierce yet cuddly. And Sarai is hard-pressed to take what she wants if it will cost him his life. Will she finally escape? Will she be tracked down by another rogue after her powers? Will love cause more pain than pleasure?

Sarai’s Fortune by Abgiail Owen continues the tale of the shifters and brings back characters from Andromeda’s Fall as the perfect conduit between books. Sarai is not a fighter, not a warrior and the things she knows and must keep to herself is enough to drive anyone to ruin. But does she have the right to play with others’ feelings? Should she tempt Fate and run or take what is being offered and deal with the consequences? Zac is the ultimate protector and he has a history that made him the man he is today. With a slightly different tone than book one, Ms. Owen brings another tale of shifters sliding around the bases and into home plate for another win!

If I liked Andie and Jaxon’s story, I loved Zac and Sarai’s! Zac was a super cute polar bear with intelligence, brawn, and that whole alpha personality thing going on. Sarai was a cougar, a Seer, wicked smart, and darned if she didn’t match wits and then some with anyone who crossed her path. Their romance was mostly closed doors, but the heat between them gave a strong impression of their hanky-panky moments! Plenty of action and some good plotting rounded out the story, making my hands itchy to read the next story!

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I love it!!!
***I received a complimentary copy for an honest review

The cover is okay, but it just doesn’t grab my attention….I think it is tame or maybe the colors….no idea, but it is a mistake not to read this book :)

This is book 2 in the Shadowcat Nation series which is a really awesome series :) This is for adults only because of the steamy scenes and violence. While you do not have to read the books in order, it will give you better character development and a great depth to the fabulous characters.

Wow, here is another story I was dying to sit and read and not be bothered until I was done, but my 14 year old just wouldn’t cooperate…lol! I really love this unique and wonderful shifter world that Abigail has created. Her complex storylines keep you guessing which is always a plus especially when there is a seer involved and George…lol Her characters are just awesome. Andie and Jaxon did make some appearances in this book, but Sarai and Zac were the stars for sure. Of course George rocks, and I definitely have some questions and theories tumbling around in my head about him and Mac….very curious. There is lots of action, drama, mystery, and trying to control the situation. I refuse to give specific details because I do not want to give anything away and ruin someone else’s awesome adventure in the Shadowcat Nation. I really hope all the characters keep coming back and are involved in the rest of the series.

I highly recommend this book to shifter lovers and especially if you read book 1 and liked it, book 2 is just as awesome :) Off to find something new to read :)

The life of a shifter is never easy, much less when you possess the powers of a Seer. Seeing the past, present, and future is never easy. This is a lesson Sarai Bouchard learns well. Though she's perfected her gift from an early age, she still has difficulty coming to terms with what she sees.

Her saving grace comes in the form of Zac Montclair, though she's loathe to admit it. Nor will she admit just how much he affects her. Despite the fact that she sees his future happen time and again, Sarai knows that she'll have to do everything possible if she's to save him from what fate has in store for him. The question is, just how far is she willing to go to make sure that what she sees doesn't take place.

Though I began this series from book two, I've gotta say that I was hooked from the moment I began reading. So much so, that I'd get irritated every time I had to put the book down. That's how interesting and engrossing the story is.

Abigail's smooth storytelling draws you in to the point that you honestly have to know what happens next. Full of nonstop action, delightful camaraderie between characters, and never-ending twists and turns, Sarai's Fortune is a story that will make you want to keep reading once the story ends.

I definitely can't wait to see what the author has in store next for the Shadowcat Nation series. Will we also get to see Corrie's story told some day, I wonder? I certainly hope so.

I really liked this book.

I liked that the characters were still strong and that Sarai was a unique individual. Zac was a stoic but tenderhearted H and I liked seeing him as an alpha role.

George was great and made me think of watching old westerns with my parents when I was a kid. He was personable but had enough mystery to keep you guessing. All the characters felt whole which is a huge accomplishment
I cant wait to see where the storyline takes us. This is a unique plotline for me and I am intrigued as to the unanswered questions in the book. I will definitely be continuing this series.

I enjoyed this 2nd installment in the Shadowcat nation series almost as much as the first but much of the first half of the book focused on a thread that was exactly the same as the first book. Once the (same) resolution occurred, however, the book became much more interesting and a lot of fun! The characters were unique and creative and thoroughly enjoyable and the world of the Shadowcats and all their foes is totally addictive! On to the next in the series!

I told you that I'd be back to this series soon. This time we have the story of Seer, Sarai and polar bear shifter Zac. It starts more or less where the last book finished and while I think it probably could be read as a standalone book, personally I think that you'll get much more out of it if you read the series in order.
Sarai is a reclusive and untrusting type. She has been badly treated for most of her life after the death of her parents with only Andie from the previous book being a friend to her. As she spends time with Zac, who has been charged with looking after her, she slowly thaws towards him and trust, friendship and something more grows between them.
In this book, we find out more about the Shadowcat nation and the threat that they are facing. Although there are some answers in this book there is clearly much more to come out and there are some characters that we meet here that I suspect that we may find out more about later.
I am, of course, looking forward to the next in this series.

This book was the hardest so far to read in the Shadowcat Nation series. Not due to technical issues, but the emotions. The fear felt by Sarai throughout the book almost jumped off the page. Yet, when needed, she was strength embodied. The betrayal that Zac felt at the end was almost palpable. So many lives lost or uprooted because of two men's greed and cowardice. Amazing quick read about hope, love and overcoming fear.

As I mentioned in my review of Andromeda’s Fall, I couldn’t wait to read Sarai’s Fortune. It lived up to my expectations and will make my “worth-a-second-read list. I loved it! Although I suppose you could read Sarai’s Fortune as a stand-alone, I wouldn’t advise it. Shadowcat Nation is really meant to be read as a series. Each book builds on the previous story.

The hero Zac is this wonderfully cuddly teddy bear. Okay, I exaggerate. He is a Polar Bear shifter. In human form he is close to seven feet tall. HUGE! Rather on the scruffy side. Very intelligent. Alpha of his “Timik.” Very protective of those he loves. Not someone to mess with really. But under all of that, he does have a heart, and he does like to cuddle – with Sarai anyway. And frankly, I don’t think I would mind cuddling with him. I like bears.

Sarai, however, is a cougar. I mean like the wild cat kind of shifter, not an older lady dating a younger man. She is actually a bit younger than Zac. She has had a hard time of it. A really nasty man/shifter has made her life a living hell. She is finally away from him, but he is still stalking her and she doesn’t feel safe at all. She needs some heavy duty protection, and Zac seems the perfect one for the job.

It was so very obvious from the very beginning that Zak and Sarai were “fated mates,” even if it is rather unusual for different shifter species. Well to me anyway, and I didn’t need Sarai’s seer power to see it. They just played off each other so well. It didn’t matter if they were arguing or making love, although it seemed to take forever before they got around to the loving part. They had so much to overcome and work through. I enjoyed their dynamic.

The non-stop action of the story kept me clued to my reader. All the twists and turns are exciting and definitely held my interest. Not only was it confirmed that there are layers of bad guys, and that we don’t have a clue who – or what – they are, but there are other “powers” out there too. I really enjoy how the overall story arc continues to be built. It is fascinating and has me eagerly awaiting the next book.

The romance between Zac and Sarai was brought to a very satisfying conclusion, but there were a few possibilities for future stories. Who will it be next? I can’t wait to find out.

I was given an ARC of this book by paranormal romance and authors that rock in return for an honest review

I give this book 5 fangs ( I really loved it and can't wait to read the next one)

I recently reviewed Andromeda's Fall the first book in this series and loved it so when I was offered book 2 Sarai's Fortune I was very excited and literally couldn't put it down.

Sarai's Fortune starts out exactly where Andromeda's Fall finished so you really need to read book one first.

That being said I loved Sarai from the when she was originally introduced as Andromeda's very good friend who also happens to be a seer. She held an air of intrigue and seemed like a smart, shy shifter who has had a rough time growing up in the Carstairs dare.

Now crazy cougar shifter Kyle Carstair is on the move and coming after her, he's desperate to father a seer and he sees Sarai as his best chance.
Sarai needs to get as far away as possible and the only safe house Andromeda and her mate Jaxon can think of is to send her to live as a Shadowcat Liaison with Zac the alpha of a polar bear shifter Timik in Canada. Zac also happens to be the incredibly tall, dark and sexy best friend of Andromeda that Sarai keeps having not only X rated visions about but also deadly.

Events quickly heat up when Sarai ends up with Zac in NYC. While Zac is on business Sarai is desperate to escape her new living situation in order to protect Zac from his fate. Problem is every time she leaves fate seems to deliver her back into Zac's strong arms as if telling her to stop running.
He knows she's hiding something from him why else would she be trying to leave the safety he can offer,
he knows she's scared. What can he do to earn the trust of the smart and sexy cougar that is working her way into his heart.

Sarai turns out to be a kick ass shifter that is much tougher than she appears when she is forced to face off against her nightmares. When allegiances are tested and it seems someone wants them both out of the way Sarai must trust in love and take a chance that could mean ending both their lives.

I couldn't get enough of this fast paced, action packed, super sexy romance. Keep them coming Abigail Owen.

Getting to revisit Andromeda and Jaxon is a great bonus and I can't wait to see who's story is next in the shifter world.

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

I loved Zac in Andromeda's Fall. His strength of will and sheer determination to protect are both endearing and at times a little humorous. The way he is with Sarai, like an immoveable mountain hell bent on keeping her safe even from herself, made me wish for an alpha bear shifter of my own.

"If you're mine, I sure as hell am yours."

Sarai may be able to see the future at times, as well as the past and present, but anything that affects her directly gets a little fuzzy. All she knows is she cannot let Zac die and if that means she has to risk herself then she'll do it; she'd already seen his death too many times in her head.

"Holy moly, that man should be deemed illegal."

With Zac and Sarai both targets they'll have to learn to trust in each other, which is a little difficult since they are both stubborn to a fault. And instead of trying to change her visions, embracing them and the man may be the way to go. After all you can only fight fate for so long.

Sarai's Fortune is a suspenseful journey of how far one would go to protect the ones they love. With Zac and Sarai being hunted you never know what will happen next. It's an on the edge of your seat, please don't let the visions come true, kind of read and I absolutely loved it!

My Favorite Laughable Moment is when Zac presents Sarai with her new bodyguards. She's a little feisty when she wants to be.

"What if I need tampons?"

Zac narrowed his eyes. "Ask them to get you some."

She tipped her head to the side. "I don't know. Tampons can be tricky. I'm partial to a certain brand. What if they don't know the difference between regular and super?"

Sarai’s Fortune is the second installment of the Shadowcat Nation series by Abigail Owen.

Sarai Bouchard is different than all the shifters because she possess the power of a Seer which gives her the ability to see the past, present and future. Learning to hone her powers was never easy, but at a young age she mastered the gift she was given. However, that doesn’t mean she’s always agree with her visions. Especially the latest one, concerning Zac Montclair.

But how far will she go to change fate?

Wow. Sarai is an incredible woman who’s will is so strong you’d think it couldn’t be broken. Her spirit and strength to change what fate has planned is admirable, but also dangerous. Throughout the book, I felt as if I was holding my breath. But I still had hope because Zac and Sarai’s affection grew. Grew to where I had enough hope that their love would alter what the fates had in store. This story not only had action and a strong heroine, but the secondary characters were tight. Every character that Abigail Owen produced in Sarai’s Fortune blended wonderfully. It never felt rushed or confusing.

I highly recommend the Shadowcat Nation series for those who enjoy shifter books.

This is one fast paced story that you most definitely will not want to put down. The second in Abigail’s Shadowcat Nation, having not previously read book 1, I was still able to connect with the characters and the story line. Others suggest that book 1 should be read first, however, as the story’s run straight on and there’s more character development.

I thoroughly enjoyed the originality of the shifter world, it was fascinating to imagine a whole different world and how it would fit with you and me. There are some explicit and violent scenes throughout the book, so I’d keep it away from the kids for the time being.

The characters are fairly well developed through out and so it was easy to connect with Sara and her relationship with Zac and George, really have to feel for George poor guy. Lots of twists and surprises will keep you hooked.

You’ll love this if your an adult. Enjoy

I loved the first book, Andromeda’s Fall by Abigail Owen, so I am very excited to read more in Sarai’s Fortune, Book II. Sarai’s Fortune picks up right where Andromeda’s Fall left off.

Sarai is a seer and a cougar shapeshifter. She ends up staying with Zac and his polar bear clan, because of the danger represented in the Carstair’s werewolf clan. She is petite, but a fighter. People see her as weak, shy and needing protection, but she is proficient in martial arts and her skill with knives is unsurpassed.

Zac is all man, except when he is a polar bear. LOL

The fight scenes are fantastic and the love scenes are not erotic, but adult. The cast of characters had me eating out of their hands, wanting to know what happens next. The world building made it easy for me to visualize the surroundings. Abigail Owens ability to spin a tale captivated me and I look forward to reading more of her work

Sarai Bouchard is special. Not only is she is a Seer but she is a cougar shifter. She finds herself needing protection from Kyle Carstairs who is obsessed with her. Her people need her to see the future.

Zac Montclair a polar bear shifter and the alpha among his people. In order to keep things peaceful, he becomes Sarai’s bodyguard and takes her in as one of his people.

When she starts having visions of Zac’s demise, she tries to runaway fearing for his safety being around her. Her plan to runaway goes astray as they get closer to each other.

Will these two be able to resist their chemistry? Will her vision become reality as Zac’s life will be at risk? Can they find happiness together despite their differences? Quick paced story that moves along at a steady pace.

I received this book through Masquerade Book Tours for an honest review.
This was a very intense read. I kept wondering what would happen. I worried that it might be boring knowing Sarai's predictions but it only added to the suspense. It gripped me from the very beginning and her and Zac's relationship seemed to evolve very naturally. Nothing felt forced. In fact, it was very steamy. I also love that Owen's made her kick butt. She is like a little ninja with her knives and punches. Reading about her training was exciting. The 1st and 2nd book link well without either one overpowering the other. Great balance and very creative! Can't see what happens next. I am guess Scott is up next. Watch out, Mr. Hottie!

Abigail, you done it again...

If you read her Svatura series, the Shadowcat Nation is going to pull you In deep, deeper and deeper. You are going to keep reading and not able to put it down til you see what happens.
Sarari and Zack will have you pulling for them from the beginning to the end and even though they are the main characters the others that are in the book will be getting your attention to where Abigail has the series going.
Please read this series and if you haven't read the Svatura series yet...you can read them as we wait for book 3 of the Shadowcat Nation...which now I can hardly wait for
Great and wonderful book.

Sarai Bouchard is a rare Seer, they are valuable for their insight into the future which puts Sarai in danger. Knowing her path will cross with Zac Montclair, Sarai is trying to find an out. She knows if they come together he will be in danger. However Zac is intent on keeping her safe and curious about the bond they are beginning to build. Will her visions change and perhaps have a different result.

Fantastic second book in the Shadowcat Nation series. Sarai is an intriguing heroine she is trying to save Zac, however Zac has his own plans where Sarai is concerned. This continues to be an exciting series, can't wait for what is next.

Initial Thoughts: I enjoyed this novel of the Shadowcat Nation more than the first. I loved the slow burn romance between Zac and Sarai. The story builds slowly but is satisfying and the world is fascinating. I enjoyed seeing how the Kuharte work - that their gifts are different, even among similarly gifted ones. I enjoyed learning more about the "big bad" and look forward to more in the series. Sarai's Fortune is wonderful story that picks up where book one left off. While these stories can be read as standalones, I would definitely recommend reading them in order to fully understand and appreciate the overall concept of the world building and the interaction between past and present characters.

This story certainly resonated more with me than book one, and I found these characters totally engaging and the storyline easy to follow, while holding my attention till the very end.

I love the direction the series is taking and I’m absolutely looking forward to more from this author.

This can be read as a stand-alone, but is more enjoyable when read in order. I was amazed by how strong the heroine was and there weren't any TSTL (too stupid to live) moments. We got to know a little about the hero in the first book and he was absolutely wonderful in this story. The hero and heroine brought out the very best in each other. This story has so much to love, mystery, action, shifters, humor, and steamy romance (not explicit or overly descriptive). I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to read the next one!

Sarai is a Seer And a cougar shifter who is under threat of one of her former alphas in her dare. To protect her Andie and Jaxon (from book 1) decide to place her under the protection of Zac, a polar bear shifter, as a condition for their agreement of alliance between the polar bears and the cougars.
Fast-paced and as good as the first one in the series. It’s very difficult to put it aside even for a short moment. With lots of twists and turns that make this book a great read.
Looking forward to reading the next one.

excellent! in some ways, i wanted the characters to act more like their animals. though the world was that of the groups of shifters, the hero and heroine weren't extremely led by their other nature. I don't know how to explain it... anyway, it was an excellent romance with a shifter and a psychic shifter. pretty cool!

Just because she is a seer. Does not mean she will be willing to forfeit her own life for those she loves. But for Zach she will do anything and everything to to protect him and them.
