She wouldn’t take no for an answer. Until he said yes.
Carly Anderson is tired of playing it safe, and a big, brooding MMA fighter seems like the perfect cure for her tendency to stay on the straight and narrow. But Giovanni Costas is battling demons she’ll never understand and has needs she’s never been confronted with before. Maybe just one night will be enough to change her life—change her—for good.
Unless he gives her no choice but to run right back to the security she’s always known…
This teaser novella in the Tapped Out series occurs shortly after the end of SHADOWBOXER and hints at the events to come for Carly and Giovanni in ON THE ROPES, coming July 1st, 2015 and up for preorder now. If cliffhangers and short teaser novellas aren’t your thing, check out ON THE ROPES for the rest of the Carly and Giovanni’s story (including a Happily Ever After!)
USA Today bestselling author Cari Quinn grew up wanting to be a singer more than anything else. When she realized she probably wouldn’t be hired as the opening act for the Foo Fighters, she stopped singing and started writing. Now she happily writes about rock stars, MMA fighters, suited heroes, bodyguards and everything in between. And she blasts her music as loud as the neighbors can stand, because hey, she’ll always be a rock star in her own head.
She's also half of the duo Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliott, as well as one half of the USA Today bestselling author Taryn Quinn, who writes steamy small town romantic comedies (among other things.)
Well this was a really quick novella and if you haven't read Shadowboxer then I highly recommend doing so otherwise you will be confused about the characters. Carly is Mia's eighteen year old sister and she has one thing in common with her older sister, determination. She is determined to go on a date with MMA fighter Giovanni Costas and no one's warnings are going to stop her. After Giovanni's latest match she follows him to a club and in one night we get a glimpse into what the real Giovanni is about! It's a quick read but I am now very intrigued. As with the rest of the series this novella is told from dual POV and is a YA/NA MMA story that holds nothing back!
This one was super short but added a little intrigue to Carly and Giovanni's storyline. Carly shows up to Giovanni's fight and then follows him after. He has been ignoring her flirting for weeks and she is not taking no for an answer this time, she wants to know more about him. She follows him to a strip club and things just go off the rails from there. This one left me with more questions than answers and now I cannot wait for their book!
So yes this is a teaser novella. I am so much more intrigued by Giovanni now that I am seriously considering skipping to his book even though I love to read series books in order. There are so many places this could go between Carly and Giovanni that I am hopefully optimistic that they will have an HEA.
Body Shot is a super short, super quick read that introduces Giovanni and Carly. Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott deliver the perfect teaser to whet our appetite for this intriguing couple. Gio has so much darkness and mystery surrounding him that I cannot wait to get his full story. I can't wait to read Gio and Carly's full-length story! Loved this quick intro!
This is a very quick read, a teaser for On The Ropes, which is the full length novel featuring Carly and Gio. This little peek at their story has me in a hate/love relationship with Gio and I cannot wait to dig more into their story!
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Very short story. Giovanni has politely pushed Carly away for a while, but he is getting weaker so he uses harsher means to get his point across. She has been stalking him and finds herself somewhere she shouldn’t be, but she still keeps pushing. There is an unfortunate tragedy and this definitely leads into another story.
I received a free copy of this book, but own a previous version of it.
This is a quick novella between Giovanni and Carly. It gives some insight as to who Giovanni may really be and why he is bent on retribution. Carly, to me, 8s the lost girl. Mia was the one with the trauma but Carly suffered too. She is trying to find her place and her way. Giovanni seems like the right first step, to her. In this quick read dhe rhds up doing domethinv out of spite.
Giovanni is going to have a real hard time shaking Carly. She has it bad for him and will do almost anything to get him to see her. What she doesn’t know is he is doing everything in his power to keep his hands off her.
Great teaser to pull you on to the next in the series!
This a great quick read that I couldn’t put down. Getting to know Carly and Giovanni makes me want to read their story now. Cari Quinn and taryn Elliott never disappoint and have come to be a go to read for me.
A great prequel and yet not a prequel. While it comes after Shadowboxer in the Tapped Out series, it begins the story of Carly and Gio who then get their own novel in book three, On the Ropes.
This super short story is a sneak peak at Carly and Gio getting to know each other. Not my favorite story but good none the less. Leaves me wondering if he's worth the trouble...
This is a short story about Gio an MMA fighter and Carly, Mia's younger sister. It takes place right where the first book stopped. There is violence and there may be triggers for some. I do want to see what will happen in the next books.
I was willing to forgive Gio for what he did since he thought he was doing what was best for Carly. But did we really need to hear about it in such detail? It's bad enough that it happened.
Carly might be eighteen but she knows what she wants, or whom. She wants Giovanni Costas. The first time she met him was when he asked that a date with her be the prize for an MMA fight with her elder sister Mia. Mia said ‘no’ but Carly remembers how Giovanni looked at her. But he isn’t playing games. He’s in water too deep and too tricky for an innocent like Carly. But she’s blind to all that when he’s involved. *** I did not realise this was a 1.2 in a series. (what does that mean anyway?) It does summarise earlier plot lines in enough detail for me to catch on, but it still felt like a point part of a series; a set up for something else. [And then I saw I have book 1 in my kindle *smacks self in face*] Not sure it will make a difference to this story. Carly follows him after a fight, ends up at a strip club and tells them she’s applying for a job to get in the door without paying a cover charge. But it isn’t a safe place for her to be, and after Giovanni scares her off (he thinks) she decides to really apply for a job. 3 stars
