Jill Gersten has never been a one-guy type of girl--after all, variety's the spice of life. So Jill's become a master at juggling dates. As long as she can get away with it, there's no need to commit to just one person. And with the tourists flooding her town on the Delaware Shore in the coming weeks, Jill's sure to have a guy-crazy summer.

Then Jill meets Craig Miller. With his deep green eyes and intense personality, he's, well...different. When Jill's friends tease that she's finally fallen for someone, Jill protests. She's still not interested in settling down--no matter how cute Craig is. But when Jill spots Craig kissing another girl, she's sick with jealousy. Now she wants Craig all to herself...but can she give up her flirtatious ways?

I remember reading this book sometime in my teenage years, and when I was back at my mom's house, I discovered it on my book shelf and picked it up again. I remember this being my favorite of the "Love Stories for Young Adults" series (does anyone else remember those books?), and thus it stayed wedged between a few childhood favorites (like King of the Wind and Silver Creek Riders) for years.

After picking it up again, I see what 13-year-old me liked about the book. It's an innocent look into teen love, a summer romance that would probably earn eye rolls from today's teens who will barely read anything longer than a tweet. But these stories deserve to be remembered and cherished. He's the One is #28 in the series, so there had to be other readers like me who grew up fantasizing about their first boyfriend and their first kiss back in the good ol' days, the 1990's, while their brothers played Nintendo games and before the dawn of the Internet. I miss those days.
