Martha Rose Shulman's reputation has ripened into one of prestige and distinction since she wrote The Vegetarian Feast as a twenty-nine-year-old dedicated amateur caterer and cooking teacher. Now, as one of America's leading authorities on vegetarian and Mediterranean food, she has returned to her groundbreaking cookbook to update it for vegetarians of the 1990's. Fans of hers and new and old vegetarians will all eagerly gobble up this timely version of a beloved classic.
This book was either purchased by me in a tofu-induced haze or given to me as a gift; honestly, I don't remember. However, most of the ingredients in this near-vegan collection are of the healthfood store variety, and even requires a glossary to tell you what "adzuki beans" and its compatriots are. Needless to say, I'd be willing to part with it and pass it on to a vegetarian, as I've now reverted to my omnivorous roots.
