How was Ben to know when he went in for his first day of internship at the Showhouse Theater the unbelievable things that would happen next: unbelievable danger, unbelievable pain, and unbelievable love?

When Ben called Soldier that morning, his first day at the theater, he had very strange things to request. When he called the second time, things were even more bizarre. From there things went downhill pretty quickly. He had found someone to love, finally, but would they both live long enough to act upon their feelings? Chip Carver was just what Ben wanted, but between crazy people trying to kill Ben, an evil pimp out to get Chip, the man watching the house, and adorable twins, would they ever be able to connect? Oh, come on, this is Scarcity, people.

I wanted to dive straight into this one as soon as I read the blurb. Sadly half way through and I nearly dived straight out again.

I love the Scarcity stories I really do. They are guaranteed to have me weeping one minute and smiling the next, but this one never quite pulled me in as much as the others. .

I was left cringing at times due to the stilted dialogue and I'm afraid this one was worse than the rest. I'm sorry but I can't believe people especially young boys/men actually sound as cutsie wootsie as these guys. Or that they need to talk to death emotions and feelings so woodenly.

Another major niggle was the inconsistencies with this one. Especially the ages that seemed to keep getting muddled, plus the twins themselves seemed to switch places a few times too. I also found this one repetitive. Not just in the way we are repeatedly told the same thing, but the story line with Ben was far too similar to Goms story. The ending was another stretch of the imagination too.

Pretty much a 2.5 but rounded up just because I do love the ideas

Sweet story as always with these Scarcity books - found the dialog and bit cheesy and repetitive in places but you get used to it.

The twins were very cute and I'm sure there will be more of them in the future. Also some very violent scenes so be prepared but not overly graphic. The main characters, Ben and Chip were very sweet but in comparison to some of the other couples (Tommy & Daniel, Casey & Gom, Dante & Trick) I don't think they will be very memorable.

Soldier and Dillon are still my faves x

I think I would have liked this better if Ben and Chip were older. I had a hard time with the fact that Chip was 17 for some reason.

I still love this series, but this one wasn't a favorite.

I love this series. The story of Ben and Chip is sweet despite all that is going on the lives of those at the sanctuary. My heart just broke when Ben was hurt so badly, but I admired the way Chip was there for him through all of it.

Resilience and strength are two things that come through in this edition of the Scarcity Sanctuary series. Ben is working on his master's degree and is starting an internship at the theatre when he discovers a badly injured Chip Carver in an old dumpster with seven year old twin boys trying to protect him. The twins have been surviving on their own for months when they rescue Chip from a beating only to be found by Ben the next morning. Ben isn't even out to Soldier and Dillon but senses that Chip may be the man he's been waiting for. Things go awry as hateful characters from the past reappear as well as new ones to threaten both Ben and Chip who with the twins show remarkable strength and resilience in the face of danger. Another great addition to the series.

I love the Scarcity series and this one was another great book. All the characters show such love and help each other through any hard times. While the books deal with heavy issues it is never dark or depressing. Not everyone gets a great family as birth but this series shows that families don't have to be families you are born into. AKM Miles always writes about hope and finding happiness surrounded by loved ones.

One of my favorites of the series (Solider is still my favorite), I love revisiting all the boys and seeing where they are in their lives.

I've heard there's another one coming out this month and I cannot wait.
