Beautifully Written

The story of the Holocaust has deeply touched my heart. Learning the horrible way the Jews were treated is devastating to me.
This story pulled me in with the story of a young couple who lost each other. You could feel the pain of loss throughout the pages. Normally a dual storyline is not for me, but it worked beautifully for this one.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves learning about the history of the Holocaust.

The Lost Child of Auschwitz

I really enjoy reading books about history and WWII. This one was exceptional. A must read about two young lovers who went to Auschwitz and never saw each other again. Irena died after child birth but her baby was saved. Excellent story about the history that follows.

I don't think I can do justice in a review for The Lost Child of Auschwitz. I thought I was prepared for an emotional journey, having read the author's first book, The Ballet Teacher of Auschwitz. I wasn't. This story, set in Poland and Austria, is even more heartbreaking because it is true. It's beautifully written, slipping seamlessly between the past and present. In addition to the Holocaust connection, there is a tense mother-daughter relationship that many readers will relate to. The characters are the true stars in this story, who refuse to be diminished or to abandon their humanity in the face of monstrous evil. I sincerely hope that Dani Zrihen is already working on her next book. Meanwhile, I highly recommend The Lost Child of Auschwitz, but with a very large box of tissues at your side. You'll need them.
