This study of biblical prophecy causes you to focus on God Himself, the planner and builder of every age. Biblical prophecy validates Scripture's authority and reveals God's purposes so you can live wisely now and anticipate the future with hope.
J. Dwight Pentecost is Distinguished Professor of Bible Exposition, Emeritus, at Dallas Theological Seminary where he has served since 1955. He holds a B.A. from Hampden-Sydney College and both the Th.M. and Th.D. from Dallas Theological Seminary. His nearly twenty books include Design for Discipleship: Discovering God's Blueprint for the Christian Life; Your Adversary, the Devil; and The Divine Comforter: The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit.
Good overall view of endtimes Prophecy. A little out dated but still relevant and relatable. Very heavy on trinitarianism though. A good Introduction for students starting to study eschatology.
This is dispensational eschatology for the layman. Pentecost examines texts from both Testaments and considers their implications for today and the future. He doesn't answer all your questions or deal with every relevant text in detail, but this offers the same basic framework as his more scholarly work on the subject.
One highlight for me is that he ends almost every chapter with a gospel plea, demonstrating that one's eschatology is not divorced from the mission of evangelism. This is no mere navel-gazing about obscure texts and imagining wild scenarios out of a science fiction novel, but a measured look at biblical prophecy and its relevance for today.
