THE WHIPLASH. OMFG.
I truly did not think I was going to survive this book with the amount of back-and-forth. I just wanted my babies to get their happily ever after, and oh my God, they had to fucking fight tooth and nail for it. One minute we’re dancing in the rain to Sleep Token (so fucking cute, by the way), and the next it’s, “We can’t be together.” WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?! MY HEART CAN’T TAKE IT.
I fucking love this series so damn much. It is so fast-paced, the epitome of bingeable. The spice is fucking immaculate, and I love Jessica and Kane with my whole heart and soul. I love this world that Harleigh created, and I can’t wait to get everyone’s stories.
I finished this in two days which is an accomplishment for me because I have been reading so slowly lately. There’s just something about the way Harleigh writes that feels genuinely addictive. She sucks you in. Her writing is smooth, it flows effortlessly and it’s straight to the fucking point. There’s no filler, no fluff and I think that’s exactly why her books are so easy for me to fly through. The stories are always exciting, and there’s constantly shit happening to keep you completely locked in.
I’m telling you right now, I’d sit down to read, and then all of a sudden I’d be 100 pages in and have absolutely no idea how that happened. Not a lot of books do that to me, and that’s why I cling to this series so hard. I know I’m going to have a good fucking time, and I’m going to think about these characters nonstop. Even when I’m not reading, I’m thinking about them.
Now, is it a literary masterpiece? No. Is it five stars? It sure the fuck is. Any story that can hold my attention like this where it feels like I’m in a straight-up chokehold is always going to become one of my all-time favorites.
I loved all the references in this book, especially the One Tree Hill one(Team Brooke for fucking life, baby!!) And I am such a sucker for the drama. Some people love having their happily ever after handed to them on a silver platter, and honestly, sometimes I do too. But I also love when shit gets really messy because it makes the payoff that much sweeter. And God… these two went through it. Especially my baby Kane. Oh my God, my heart broke for him. He was trying so hard to do the right thing, and he just kept fucking up. His life looks so luxurious from the outside, but that man has so many skeletons in his closet and so much trauma. Him and Jess both go through their own shit, but they find a way to lean on each other, support each other… and, you know, casually fuck each other’s brains out.
The chemistry between these two is so damn good. This man has me weak in the knees, so I can’t even imagine how bad Jess has it. He said, “Hi, baby,” and I nearly fucking died from those two words alone. And he cracks her back so fucking well. I’m so happy for her, but I’m also so fucking jealous. They were getting freaky left and right, but the scene at dark lanes on the hood of the car…. Don’t judge me if I reread it eight times….
They were so damn hot. I love their fight for dominance, the power plays, and the fact that she pulls a weapon on him.… she may even stab him. It’s just the way they do foreplay and we love to see it. 🥵
I also loved all the little Easter eggs for the future couples. They’re all going to be so freaking good, but I don’t know if anyone will ever top Jess and Kane for me. They’re one of my all-time favorite couples. I love how their story started…you know, she holds him at gunpoint. Very romantic. And I loved every step of the journey to their happily ever after.
This book has amazing characters, a great plot, a secret society, opposites attract, a little bit of forbidden love, a whole lot of “we can’t be together,” endless push-and-pull, trauma, heartbreak, mental health rep… it literally fucking has it all.

Тут було багато про втрату, психологічне здоров’я (тут авторка прям дуже гарно описала стан людини), страх щастя, жертовність заради коханої людини.
Кейн - це чоловік, якого бажала б кожна дівчина. Чоловік буквально піде на все, заради щастя людей, які йому дорогі❤️🩹
Джессіка - дівчина, яка не могла уявити, що заслуговує на щастя, боялася кохати, боялася втратити
Я дуже рада, що для них, все закінчилось ХЕ, бо вони на те заслуговують.

I've missed Kane and Jessica SO much! What a perfect ending to their story. Harleigh girl, you played with my emotions so hard again!! DE-VOURED THIS. No shocker to anyone lol I am obsessed with this series.

What a conclusion to Jessica and Kane’s story! I mean, Kane could’ve grovelled a bit more but overall, this was a great dark romance!

Ugh i missed them so much!! I wanted more but thats just me being greedy lol other than that, i felt like the story with his dad was ‘over’ too quickly. I wanted a more from that side of the plot because he was so terrible he deserved to go to jail or die. But this universe isn’t over so hopefully we get to see more.

First off, I want to thank the author for giving me the arc because I got to experience it beforehand.
It’s safe to say, I was in my feels. Kane was hurting, trying to protect everyone he loves with the odds stacked against him. His trauma was unbearable to witness, especially as it was described in graphic detail.
But I love that he stayed true to himself, being all possessive and pathetically obsessed with Jessica. He never wanted to give her up even if some of his actions were questionable.
Jessica is a different story. Her character gave me so much whiplash. She’s a baddie, but I wished she had more of a backbone when dealing with some situations.
Honorable mentions go to Ava and Cash. I fully expected Ava to be a mean girl, yet she’s not. The direction her character went to was refreshing. Cash was such a good brother to Kane, really enjoyed seeing a softer side beneath the f-boy persona. It was almost like they switched the roles which was really cool to see.
The dynamics of the side characters is really interesting, may already have my theories on who will be coupled up with who. Everyone had a role to play and the seeds for more stories are planted along the way.
My only notes/least fav things were the pop culture references. They were a bit much. Also, the stakes weren’t as high, things got so easily resolved.
This didn’t take away from my fun, I’m still vibing with these books.
My overall rating for these series so far is 4.25 ⭐️ if you like the trope of a rich boy and a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, total opposites that find chemistry in the most unlikely of instances, definitely read them. The spice was just a fun little bonus 🤭

kane truly couldn’t catch a break. omg, he was always getting blackmailed, always being put in horrible situations, and always getting the short end of the stick. 🙃💔

jessica was a fighter as well. her brother got on my last nerve, but i guess he was just trying to protect his little sister. 🫠 still… go awayyyy.

Such a disappointing ending to an amazing story. I'm so sorry to say it, but this just wasn't it. 😫🥺 (I was honestly generous with my rating because I loved the first two books so much.)
This was nothing like I expected. Around 80% of the book felt repetitive and dragged on. I ended up disliking both main characters—Jessica was frustratingly annoying, and Kane came across as surprisingly weak. Their character development felt shallow, and I never really connected with either of them.
The ending was incredibly underwhelming. I was expecting an explosive revenge, a major plot twist, or a truly villainous final showdown. Instead, everything felt flat and anticlimactic, and it seemed like... nothing really happened.
I'm genuinely sad because I was so excited to see how this story would end. The only character who really caught my attention in this book was Cash, and if he gets a sequel, I'll definitely be reading it.

I was going to lose my shit if we had another Romeo and Juliet situation. Don't worry its just incredibly difficult to put down but it does have a HEA.

You know what, this trilogy is messy and toxic. Miscommunication galore. And I ate that shit up. It was a ride that I road all the way til the end. It was enjoyable and at times I wanted to through my kindle at the wall.
This book I truly felt for Kane. He needs to be protected at all costs. And after everything that Jessica and Kane went through, I am so happy they were able to fight for their HEA. I can't wait for the other easter egg couples to get their story but I'm invested.

I absolutely loved it! But I didn’t love it as much as book 1 and 2. I felt like some parts were a little rushed, and personally I think that Kane’s dad deserved WAY worse. He got off easy in my opinion, the twist with the dad was great but honestly, he should of been killed or something but as bad lol the dad did too much for him to be walking around all free and what not. The man numerous times was disrespectful and sexually assaulted Jessica, like that shouldn’t have been ignored. I wish that the story got a little deeper into the society, but I’m guessing that will come with the rest of the series. Also, I wanted to see what more was going on with Jessica’s dad. I wish we could see him doing better for himself and his family.

Overall, I loved the story and I absolutely love the series as a whole definitely a 5⭐️ series, there was just some things missing for me in this one.
Harleigh is amazing, and I love her writing style and the worlds and characters that she creates. So I am excited for what else is to come from this series!

First! Thank you to Harleigh and her team for the chance to read the ARC! I’ve been in love with Jessica and Kane’s story since she stole that knife!!
What an emotional roller coaster! I think I went through the five stages of grief with this wrap up!! From the beginning I loved how much Kane was just obsessed with Jessica, the way he did a complete 180 with his emotions from letting himself become so numb to feeling such deep intense emotions for her despite all the sh*t handed to him?! I’m obsessed! Chris might catch my hands a few times though what was that bull crap!! Jessica too went through some serious character development! From constantly and I mean constantly running from her feelings towards Kane, her inability to let herself be happy, to allowing herself to find her happiness and new friends with someone she once thought was her enemy. And Beverly?! Good riddance ! I just need to know what happened to Kane’s and Cash’s sorry excuse of a father!! My emotions were on a damn speed way much like Kane racing. I loved this trilogy! It had everything from toxic lust to passion filled love. Two people who come from completely different backgrounds who aren’t so different from each other like they thought. They found love and life with one another!!

I was scared going into this book after the last cliffhanger but as soon as I started I calmed down a bit. and yes, he had my freaking heart from page one (as I thought).
I really enjoyed how the plot twisted and turned during this one, I just wish we had a little bit more outside-the-relationship-drama and less drama between Kane and Jessica.
Here's unfortunately what didn't work for me, Jessica kept bugging me, homegirl just needed to choose at one point right? I kinda missed the strong fmc that pulled all those things on Kane in the first two books in this one, she felt more subdued than before.
Star of the show (except for Kane ofc) was Cash and Ava. Omg I love these two so much, how Cash saw Kane and all the ways he tried to help him.
Overall the book gets a 4 star for me, I still loved the trilogy and Kane will live rent free in my head.

I devoured this book in a single sitting.
This was the perfect conclusion
to Kane and Jessica’s story.
They were never supposed to make it.
Every twist crashes into you like a car
taking a corner far too fast.
Every secret raises the stakes so high
that you’re never quite sure
where the story is heading.
What Harleigh Beck does so well
is portray trauma with
honesty and compassion.
Kane and Jessica carry it differently,
but they’re still travelling the same road
in different cars,
following a map with no directions.
Harleigh doesn’t hand you a happy ending.
She makes you earn it.
You hit every bump in the road,
every sharp turn,
before finally crossing the finish line.
And when you do,
the payoff is worth every mile.

This was such a ride. The plot had me hooked throughout and was so fast-paced, but also perfect cause I feel like we don’t miss any important details either.
The characters… don’t get me started on how much I love Kane and Jessica! They are everything 🥹 I am also really excited to read more about Rain, Ava, Summer, Noah, Cash and Malice. I can see some possible romances between some of these characters and I can’t WAIT.
My only complaint was that the ending was definitely more rushed than what I wanted and his dad deserved worse.
Overall, a phenomenal series and I would definitely recommend!

Dark Pursuit by Harleigh Beck picks up right where the cliffhanger left off and doesn't let go. This book, this trilogy, is hard to put down! The psychological tension between Kane and Jessica is razorsharp, and Harleigh Beck walks that line between love and obsession with real precision. Kane is one of my favourite male leads from books that I've read this year (so far!): complicated, devoted, and genuinely heartbreaking. The twist about his father was a surprise, I always enjoy a good Harleigh Beck twist. Dark romance done right. Don't sleep on this one. Go read it. Go!

This book broke me and then put me back together-The mental health representation in this book is heartbreaking but beautifully written. This whole series is an instant recommendation to all ❤️

This was a rollercoaster and I was happy to be on it by the end.
I found this really emotional and I connected with Jessica’s character a lot.
The spice contemplated the story so well, something I really appreciate.
It’s refreshing to see a man fall hard for the girl first 🖤
It was also nice to see the roles reverse a little with Cash and Kane.
This was a story of taking back control and accepting it’s ok to be vulnerable.
I also SNORTED with who was in Rain’s trunk, IYKYK.
Looking forward to Rain and Noah’s story next ❤️🔥

Ugh I’m ending the trilogy on a sour note. I just felt like the big moments lacked and it felt like a less developed EOD remake. I wanted to love it but I just came away disappointed. La narrazione riparte esattamente da quel cliffhanger mozzafiato che ci aveva tormentate per mesi, catapultandoci subito nel vivo della storia. Il capitolo finale di Kane e Jessica vi travolgerà come un fiume in piena, affrontando tematiche delicate, oscure e decisamente forti con una lucidità che non fa sconti a nessuno. La vera forza del romanzo risiede però nella straordinaria caratterizzazione dei due protagonisti. Kane e Jessica sono due anime complesse, spezzate e magneticamente attratte l'una dall'altra da circostanze che trasformano il loro legame in un sentimento tanto inevitabile quanto distruttivo. What a perfect conclusion to the story of Jessica and Kane! I am so incredibly happy that they both got the happy ending they deserved after all this trauma both of them had to deal with.

After the brutal cliffhanger Harleigh left us with in ᴍɪᴅɴɪɢʜᴛ ᴄʜᴀꜱᴇ we dive right back into the story so please read the first two books in the series so you know what has been happening so far.
This was an emotional roller coaster and had me crying countless times! I was so emotionally invested with all the characters.
I came back for the troubled love story of Jessica and Kane and with hope they will find their way back together. ❤️🩹
But I also stayed for all the secrets to be revealed, for new friendships and relationships forming, the SPICE 🔥 and overall for this world Harleigh created within this Series!

All the twists and turns in the story had me glued to the pages bc I wanted to know what will happen next.
The secret that got to light about Mr Ravencourt was jaw dropping (although I’m still wondering what's going on with him now after his last appearance 👀)
Beverly got what she deserved for what she did to Kane and Cash. I would have chosen the other option but I hope she had to suffer for a long time! 🤬
At times I was angry with Chris and his overprotective behavior towards his sister (which also is understandable) so i was glad when he finally warmed up with Kane and the whole situation. 🫡
In the end two lost and broken souls find their peace within each other and can heal and grow even stronger together. ❤️🩹
The whole dynamic between them since the first book! The banter, the love ❤️, the spice 🔥, the groveling and longing between Jessica and Kane is just chef‘s kiss!

This was an emotional roller coaster and had me crying countless times! I was so emotionally invested with all the characters.
I came back for the troubled love story of Jessica and Kane and with hope they will find their way back together. ❤️🩹
But I also stayed for all the secrets to be revealed, for new friendships and relationships forming, the SPICE 🔥 and overall for this world Harleigh created within this Series!

I fear I can’t get into much detail but for me it’s the perfect combination of Plot and Spice and it‘s topped with an HEA? ✨
All the twists and turns in the story had me glued to the pages bc I wanted to know what will happen next.
The secret that got to light about Mr Ravencourt was jaw dropping (although I’m still wondering what's going on with him now after his last appearance 👀)
Beverly got what she deserved for what she did to Kane and Cash. I would have chosen the other option but I hope she had to suffer for a long time! 🤬
At times I was angry with Chris and his overprotective behavior towards his sister (which also is understandable) so i was glad when he finally warmed up with Kane and the whole situation. 🫡
In the end two lost and broken souls find their peace within each other and can heal and grow even stronger together. ❤️🩹
The whole dynamic between them since the first book! The banter, the love ❤️, the spice 🔥, the groveling and longing between Jessica and Kane is just chef‘s kiss!

First of all, thank you so much for providing me with this ARC. I'm so grateful to have been able to receive it and read it, it was my most anticipated read of the moment (since I'm quite in a reading slump, so thank you Harleigh Beck). And it did not disappoint.
I wanted revenge for Kane and his twin so badly and I'm actually so happy on how the revenge took part, especially how the wife's senator got handled. I hadn't expected it and it couldn't have been better.
There was quite a twist that happened in the beginning, which explained the ending of Midnight Chase. I went back to Midnight Chase to read that specific last part and I actually felt so dumb afterwards because everything was already explained, but I LOVED the twist.
This book was different from other dark romance books, that I've read so far, in the sense that the way this mmc actually has a back story and a reasonable explanation as to why he acts the way acts (same goes for his twin). There's actually depth and so much effort into his character and the emotions that he goes through, you go through it with him. I truly loved all of this, because I feel like not a lot of dark romance books have that.
Jessica's story, with her siblings and mom, actually hit so close to home for me. Not the same story, but the same emotions and feeling like everything is falling apart if the one parent that is holding everything together is slowly feathering awat and making you realise that your sibling(s) and you are the only thing left and that you must hold on to each other to be able to survive all of this, because they become your only family. This makes me so emotional and makes me think of all the things that could happen in literally a few seconds and to just take life as it is and make it the most of it, because you don't know what tomorrow brings just what yesterday has brought.
Chris annoyed me so bad, every time he came into the chapter I was literally groaning. I was so sick of him, I really understand where he was coming from at first and the way he acted but it became genuinely annoying after three chapters. I hated how he just couldn't let it go. I get it, he was trying to protect his little sister since he became the "responsible" adult in the house but at some point you have to let go of your siblings and let them live their own life. If you've tried everything and they still don't want to listen, that's their life and they'll learn it the hard way.
A little something I noticed, but the book didn't follow through was Sam. He was giving me weird vibes, now I don't know if I was just overthinking it or they'll be a follow up soon.
Plus point: I loveddd the way Ava got integrated in their little group of friends and I actually can't wait to read her book as well as the other characters'.

I don’t even know how to properly put into words how much this series has taken over my brain and my heart.
Thank you so much to Harleigh Beck for the ARC of Dark Pursuit. This was an emotional, intense and heartbreaking conclusion to Kane and Jessica’s story, and I honestly wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these characters.
After the ending of Midnight Chase, I needed answers, and this book picks up straight away with all the chaos, pain and emotions that came with that cliffhanger.
Kane Ravencourt completely broke my heart in this book. We finally get to see even deeper into his mind and understand the weight he has been carrying for so long. The sacrifices, the guilt, the need to protect the people he loves… it was heartbreaking watching him struggle with everything he was willing to endure so others wouldn’t have to.
Kane has always been more than just the confident, possessive, powerful man we see on the outside. This book really showed his vulnerability and the trauma behind the walls he built, and I found myself wanting to reach through the pages and give him a hug.
Jessica continues to be one of my favourite FMCs. She is strong, stubborn, loyal and never loses herself despite everything thrown at her. Their relationship has always been a battle of two people who are terrified of being vulnerable, and watching them navigate the secrets, hurt and love between them was such an emotional rollercoaster.
Their chemistry is still unmatched. The tension, the banter and the intensity between them were everything I expected, but this book also gave us the emotional depth that their story needed.
One thing I really appreciate about this series is that it’s not just about the romance. Harleigh created a whole world filled with secrets, found family, complicated characters and stories that make you want more. The side characters truly became such an important part of the journey, and I’m honestly desperate to know more about them (especially Cash & Malice & Rain 👀).
The representation of mental health and the way this book explores what people can hide behind closed doors was one of the strongest parts for me. It added so much depth to Kane’s story and reminded me why these characters feel so real.
And the twists, because of course Harleigh Beck had to keep us on our toes until the very end.
