THE WHIPLASH. OMFG.
I truly did not think I was going to survive this book with the amount of back-and-forth. I just wanted my babies to get their happily ever after, and oh my God, they had to fucking fight tooth and nail for it. One minute we’re dancing in the rain to Sleep Token (so fucking cute, by the way), and the next it’s, “We can’t be together.” WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?! MY HEART CAN’T TAKE IT.
I fucking love this series so damn much. It is so fast-paced, the epitome of bingeable. The spice is fucking immaculate, and I love Jessica and Kane with my whole heart and soul. I love this world that Harleigh created, and I can’t wait to get everyone’s stories.
I finished this in two days which is an accomplishment for me because I have been reading so slowly lately. There’s just something about the way Harleigh writes that feels genuinely addictive. She sucks you in. Her writing is smooth, it flows effortlessly and it’s straight to the fucking point. There’s no filler, no fluff and I think that’s exactly why her books are so easy for me to fly through. The stories are always exciting, and there’s constantly shit happening to keep you completely locked in.
I’m telling you right now, I’d sit down to read, and then all of a sudden I’d be 100 pages in and have absolutely no idea how that happened. Not a lot of books do that to me, and that’s why I cling to this series so hard. I know I’m going to have a good fucking time, and I’m going to think about these characters nonstop. Even when I’m not reading, I’m thinking about them.
Now, is it a literary masterpiece? No. Is it five stars? It sure the fuck is. Any story that can hold my attention like this where it feels like I’m in a straight-up chokehold is always going to become one of my all-time favorites.
I loved all the references in this book, especially the One Tree Hill one(Team Brooke for fucking life, baby!!) And I am such a sucker for the drama. Some people love having their happily ever after handed to them on a silver platter, and honestly, sometimes I do too. But I also love when shit gets really messy because it makes the payoff that much sweeter. And God… these two went through it. Especially my baby Kane. Oh my God, my heart broke for him. He was trying so hard to do the right thing, and he just kept fucking up. His life looks so luxurious from the outside, but that man has so many skeletons in his closet and so much trauma. Him and Jess both go through their own shit, but they find a way to lean on each other, support each other… and, you know, casually fuck each other’s brains out.
The chemistry between these two is so damn good. This man has me weak in the knees, so I can’t even imagine how bad Jess has it. He said, “Hi, baby,” and I nearly fucking died from those two words alone. And he cracks her back so fucking well. I’m so happy for her, but I’m also so fucking jealous. They were getting freaky left and right, but the scene at dark lanes on the hood of the car…. Don’t judge me if I reread it eight times….
They were so damn hot. I love their fight for dominance, the power plays, and the fact that she pulls a weapon on him.… she may even stab him. It’s just the way they do foreplay and we love to see it. 🥵
I also loved all the little Easter eggs for the future couples. They’re all going to be so freaking good, but I don’t know if anyone will ever top Jess and Kane for me. They’re one of my all-time favorite couples. I love how their story started…you know, she holds him at gunpoint. Very romantic. And I loved every step of the journey to their happily ever after.
This book has amazing characters, a great plot, a secret society, opposites attract, a little bit of forbidden love, a whole lot of “we can’t be together,” endless push-and-pull, trauma, heartbreak, mental health rep… it literally fucking has it all.

Найбільш емоційна частина для мене
Тут було багато про втрату, психологічне здоров’я (тут авторка прям дуже гарно описала стан людини), страх щастя, жертовність заради коханої людини.
Кейн - це чоловік, якого бажала б кожна дівчина. Чоловік буквально піде на все, заради щастя людей, які йому дорогі❤️🩹
Джессіка - дівчина, яка не могла уявити, що заслуговує на щастя, боялася кохати, боялася втратити
Я дуже рада, що для них, все закінчилось ХЕ, бо вони на те заслуговують.
Подруга Рейн взагалі інакше відкрилась, тепер дуже чекаю книгу про неї

Я очікувала на інший фінал Кейна і Джессіки, не там де Кейн себе жаліє, нічого не робить і не бореться. Ну серйозно, замість того щоб розказати все Джесс, не мучитися і більше не спати з тією чокнотою, він вирішив що краще мовчати і далі їй зраджувати. Мені шкода Кейна, але тут я більше за Джессіку була. Всі тільки з Кейна зробили жертву, але ця дівчинка не менше страждала, якось навіть обідно за неї. Хоча за обох сильно боляче
🥺❤️🩹 Звісно ж рада що та трійка довбанутих получила по заслугам (в мене були підозри про батька та сенатора, але я всеодно в ахуї з цього), але хотілося щоб це зробив той з ким це найбільше всього робилося, а не тільки Кеш, Меверік і Ава. Ось ця дівчина здивувала, з'явилася в третій книзі і порішала більше чим всі разом за весь час.
Рейн - хоч і зі своїми прибамбахами, але вона дійсно класна найкраща подруга. Яка готова піти на все заради своїх друзів, навіть розправитися з тими хто їх образив.
Кеш - мій краш, ці його близнюкові підколи, обожнюю і чекаю на його окрему історію.
Ще той Кріс домахався, все ніяк не відстане від Джесс, чому він так за молодшою сестрою не піклується, поки вона з його другом. Бісить. А під кінець вгазалі що він витворив? Я не можу перестати офігівати з таких поворотів. Ладно. Кейн заслужив теж на добрих причуханів, але ж не таке приниження.
Життя не справедливе, навіть до книжкових героїв, яке теж ламає найсильніших, але воно загартовує нас, аби була кохана людина поруч, як в цій історії. Скільки би лайна їм не підкидали, вони всеодно не здалися і вистояли, залишившись разом 🥹🫂

Після перших двох книг, ця для мене трохи неоднозначна.
В кінці другої нам розбивають серце разом із Джесікою, але буквально на початку третьої вони якось безпонтово миряться, Кейн забуває, шо він хотів її захистити, і та вся драма виходить даремна 🤷♀️.
В ще, я себе накрутила з тим, чого очікувати в кінці, тому нормальної вендети мені не вистачило. Особливо з дружиною сенатора.
В першій книзі нам показували, який крутий Кейн і ко, як у Фолз їх бояться, але по суті він нічого не зробив, все за нього порішали Кеш, Ава і Меверік. Навіть того придурка Кріса на місце не зміг поставити.
Кріс, йди нахуй!!! Прооосто. 🤬
Я дуже сподіваюсь, що якщо буде його книжка, він буде голий і обриганий бомжами бігати по місту, його пісюна розішлють всім ізвращєнцам і дівка заставить його принижуватися набагато гірше, ніж він змусив Кейна.
Ну не може тіп, який вважається старшим в сімʼї, бʼє себе в груди про захист сестри, такий весь невʼєбенний наркобарига, творити таку фігню на рівні десятирічки з-під гаражів. Не може.
Кеш - моя ти бусінка 💜, витягнув для мене книгу на рівні емоційної привʼязаності до персонажів. І дівчата ще - Ава і Рейн, разом з ним.
Цікаво прочитати історію всіх героїв, якщо про них авторка писатиме 🙌.

Ох мені вони тут довго запрягали. І я довго збирала всі думки до купи.
Спочатку все було динамічно, ці страждання розбитого серця 💔, потім нелогічне возʼєднання, а потім ми просто до половини наблюдаєм одне і то саме. В Кейна качелі, він хоче вберегти Джесіку, але вони все одно разом і біль від кінцівки попередньої книги, виходить, був дарма?
Далі, величезний пиздець, до якого і так все шло, знов розбиті серця і сльози, а до купи всіх тригерів, додаємо щє водіння в стані алкогольного спʼяніння і те до чого це може призвести 🫠
В цій частині дууууже багато драми, але я рада, що все так закінчилось. Могло б бути менше всього, але шо маємо 😅
Джесіку розумію всім серцем і поважаю, але вона дійсно полохлива кроличка, сподіваюсь Кейн, з часом, її зцілить.

Ця частина мені сподобалася більше за всі попередні🔥
Багато емоцій, класно прописані переживання героїв. Ця частина була набагато насиченіша подіями, тому читалося дуже легко.

What a conclusion to Jessica and Kane’s story! I mean, Kane could’ve grovelled a bit more but overall, this was a great dark romance!

Such a disappointing ending to an amazing story. I'm so sorry to say it, but this just wasn't it. 😫🥺 (I was honestly generous with my rating because I loved the first two books so much.)
This was nothing like I expected. Around 80% of the book felt repetitive and dragged on. I ended up disliking both main characters—Jessica was frustratingly annoying, and Kane came across as surprisingly weak. Their character development felt shallow, and I never really connected with either of them.
The ending was incredibly underwhelming. I was expecting an explosive revenge, a major plot twist, or a truly villainous final showdown. Instead, everything felt flat and anticlimactic, and it seemed like... nothing really happened.
I'm genuinely sad because I was so excited to see how this story would end. The only character who really caught my attention in this book was Cash, and if he gets a sequel, I'll definitely be reading it.
This was nothing like I expected. Around 80% of the book felt repetitive and dragged on. I ended up disliking both main characters—Jessica was frustratingly annoying, and Kane came across as surprisingly weak. Their character development felt shallow, and I never really connected with either of them.
The ending was incredibly underwhelming. I was expecting an explosive revenge, a major plot twist, or a truly villainous final showdown. Instead, everything felt flat and anticlimactic, and it seemed like... nothing really happened.

Ugh i missed them so much!! I wanted more but thats just me being greedy lol other than that, i felt like the story with his dad was ‘over’ too quickly. I wanted a more from that side of the plot because he was so terrible he deserved to go to jail or die. But this universe isn’t over so hopefully we get to see more.

First off, I want to thank the author for giving me the arc because I got to experience it beforehand.
It’s safe to say, I was in my feels. Kane was hurting, trying to protect everyone he loves with the odds stacked against him. His trauma was unbearable to witness, especially as it was described in graphic detail.
But I love that he stayed true to himself, being all possessive and pathetically obsessed with Jessica. He never wanted to give her up even if some of his actions were questionable.
Jessica is a different story. Her character gave me so much whiplash. She’s a baddie, but I wished she had more of a backbone when dealing with some situations.
Honorable mentions go to Ava and Cash. I fully expected Ava to be a mean girl, yet she’s not. The direction her character went to was refreshing. Cash was such a good brother to Kane, really enjoyed seeing a softer side beneath the f-boy persona. It was almost like they switched the roles which was really cool to see.
The dynamics of the side characters is really interesting, may already have my theories on who will be coupled up with who. Everyone had a role to play and the seeds for more stories are planted along the way.
My only notes/least fav things were the pop culture references. They were a bit much. Also, the stakes weren’t as high, things got so easily resolved.
This didn’t take away from my fun, I’m still vibing with these books.
My overall rating for these series so far is 4.25 ⭐️ if you like the trope of a rich boy and a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, total opposites that find chemistry in the most unlikely of instances, definitely read them. The spice was just a fun little bonus 🤭

I’m so glad this book is out! I was waiting to see how Jessica and Kane’s story would end. While I enjoyed this book, I felt there was too much back and forth between the two. First it was Kane trying to make up excuses as to why they couldn’t be together, and then it was Jessica. There were still some unfinished business with other characters, so I hope it’s addressed in the spin off series.

What a wild, emotional conclusion to Kane and Jessica's story! Dark Pursuit doesn't let up for a second, catching us up right after that insane cliffhanger. It’s heavy and tackles serious mental health topics, so definitely make sure you are in the right frame of mind before starting.
What worked for me:
The Side Characters & Cameos: The world-building expanded beautifully here. The Obsession Easter egg on the news made me scream! I also loved Ava's resilient personality and that hilarious, chaotic lake scene with the trunk surprise. The romantic teasers for Malice/Summer, Rain/Noah, and Cash have me desperate for the next books.
The Plot Twists: That revelation about Kane's father? A total blindside. My jaw was on the floor.
The Romance: Kane is the ultimate protective MMC. While his secrets caused a lot of hot-and-cold miscommunication, and I personally think Jessica should have made him grovel way more, their tension and spice were incredible.
What I wanted more of: I wish the secret society aspect got a bit more closure, but hopefully, that's coming in future installments. Ultimately, I am so incredibly happy with their HEA!

[3.75] Whiplash, whiplash, whiplash! This book was moving 100mph on every page. I love Kane and Jessica so much. I’m really glad this book dove deeper into Kane’s trauma and what he went through, as well as how much he loved her. That man was willing to give up so much to be with her and went through so so much.
Towards the beginning, he should have groveled more, they got back together way too easily at first. But the ending had me in tears. I was a little annoyed at her brother at first, his constant nagging about her being with Kane was ridiculous after a while. I get that he was just worried and being protective of his family, but come on. I really wish Chris would’ve shown more interest in their mother, at least in the very end when she passed away. Jessica and her friends killing Beverly was absolutely fantastic, and I’m so glad it was done, but it felt a little out of pocket, but honestly definitely deserved.
All together, I enjoyed this series. It was super fun and kept me interested, even during my slump. I’m really excited for Rain’s story, and I’m really hoping to get a book about Summer and Malice I LOVE them!

This ending was magical, I loved it all and ate it up in 1 day.
All of the heartbreak and sadness. The pain and misery. And do not get me started on the betrayal.
I was going to lose my shit if we had another Romeo and Juliet situation. Don't worry its just incredibly difficult to put down but it does have a HEA.
Now, lets talk about a story with Jessica's sister because she didn't finish her story 👀👀☕️

I absolutely loved it! But I didn’t love it as much as book 1 and 2. I felt like some parts were a little rushed, and personally I think that Kane’s dad deserved WAY worse. He got off easy in my opinion, the twist with the dad was great but honestly, he should of been killed or something but as bad lol the dad did too much for him to be walking around all free and what not. The man numerous times was disrespectful and sexually assaulted Jessica, like that shouldn’t have been ignored. I wish that the story got a little deeper into the society, but I’m guessing that will come with the rest of the series. Also, I wanted to see what more was going on with Jessica’s dad. I wish we could see him doing better for himself and his family.
Jessica aggravated me at some points, and I wanted to just shake her and say “stop acting like a child!” 😂 But I still love Jessica and feel that she is very relatable FMC.

4⭐️ it’s something about this series, these characters, the writing, that has me completely glued to my kindle and not wanting to put it down! I love Jessica and Kane tbh😭 my heart was hurting for both of them, and I really love how the romance amped up in the book as well. Kane is so down bad for her!! I am a STAN! Lmao. You know what, this trilogy is messy and toxic. Miscommunication galore. And I ate that shit up. It was a ride that I road all the way til the end. It was enjoyable and at times I wanted to through my kindle at the wall.
This book I truly felt for Kane. He needs to be protected at all costs. And after everything that Jessica and Kane went through, I am so happy they were able to fight for their HEA. I can't wait for the other easter egg couples to get their story but I'm invested.

Shocker… I loved this book just as much as every other book in this series. At this point Harleigh Beck could release her shopping list and I’d probably give it five stars.
Kane is so unbelievably fucking petty that I was laughing out loud every other chapter. The man treats revenge like it’s an Olympic sport and I loved every second of it. But then there were moments where his POV absolutely wrecked me.
Watching everything Kane has been carrying, the abuse he’s endured and the way he’s convinced himself he always has to be the strong one was genuinely difficult to read at times. He’s constantly holding everyone else together while never allowing himself to fall apart. This book leaned much more into the emotional and sensitive topics and it really took the time to show what every single character is battling inside their own head. It made them feel so painfully human.
One of my favourite things about this series is how every book peels back another layer of these characters and this one gave us some of the most vulnerable moments yet. I loved getting to see that softer, broken side beneath all the chaos.
And can we PLEASE talk about Summer and Malice? Because I need their book immediately. Like… yesterday. I am not okay after those crumbs.

At first I really loved Kane and Jessica's trilogy, then around half of second book it kept going down for me and just didn't stop.
Jessica was actually so annoying in this book, and Kane seemed way too proud for someone who didn't actually win his own battles. Without his friend coming trough he never would have had a one up on his dad. Also how did 2 low class girls and one rich girl get away with kidnapping and killing the senators wife, like genuinely how would they ever pull that off.
The Dark Lanes series continues with other couples and I'm both intrested and not. Yes, for Malice and Summer. Hell no for Rain and Noah. Yes for the possibility of Ava having a book and Cash having a book. Chris actually had me furiously hating him till the maybe last 80 pages where he kinda made up for it but still nah.
Also this did not need to be a trilogy. If you put the first book (130 pages) and second book (260 pages) together into one, and then have this be the second book and have it as a duology, that would be so much better. Because the first book is just like an extended prologue, my reading goal is not complaining tho.
