Recalibration, not change. Very interesting.

This book was such a good read, a premise I'm sure many have never even thought of! Military personnel returning to civilian life are offered many ways tohandle their transition. This book discusses a basic thing that we may take for granted.,driving. Driving in the military is a whole different framework that in everyday civilian life.

I received this book from Goodreads for an honest review and honestly I thought I would like this book being a military wife for 22 years, but sadly I didn’t even read more than50 pages. I just couldn’t stomach it anymore unfortunately. Very repetitive and the writing was so basic. Not a book that will keep my interest.

A Book That Helped Me Understand
I am the wife of a veteran, and many times my husband and I have taken long rides together in almost total silence. Other times, he looks like he is on a mission. I never really stopped to think about what might be going on internally for him during those moments. I realize now that I am not alone in having those concerns. The book helped me look at some of his behaviors differently. What I appreciated most is that this book gave me ideas I can use. I think this is a valuable book for anyone who loves and lives with a veteran and wants to better understand what they may be experiencing internally.

Can help a variety of individuals

I like the way this book is broken up into parts to help different individuals learn how to help veterans. There are lessons for veterans themselves, family members and friends, and even individuals like traffic safety and law enforcement. The idea is to help veterans regarding traffic safety and threat perception. I thought the communication strategies were the most helpful for someone like me who knows several veterans. I think veterans would really be able to relate to many of the case studies and find them helpful. Really good book.
