Lourdes is complaining about supporting Kenny for 6 months when it sounds like he did the exact same and would’ve done more, is kind of lame. I thought she was doing it all for much longer. She didn’t really give him a chance to bounce back. And like she said, she went along with the sprees and lavish living. I don’t condone a woman just sitting around let a man use her while he’s being a bum. But for a woman that was happy to let him spoil her without a care, she quickly got fed up when the lifestyle changed. So that’s giving user energy.
“I’ve already decided I am single.” Well you didn’t communicate it so you still a cheating hoe. I don’t care if Kenny ends up being a bum, Lourdes is being super shady
Lourdes lying about living with her mom will blow up in her face. Probably when he insists on taking her home after the Florida trip
Ok one thing I actually like about Lo is her thoughts on Armias mom re her colorism, texturism, fat phobia, etc I cannot stand that lady
Not Armias mom acting like he’s her man and being super jealous of Lo. Gross
Ok Lo is back to goofy status. She knows her shot was due and instead of making that a priority, she sleeping with Armias with no protection, yet talking about she don’t want kids right now. 🙄 I already know how this will go
It’s not making sense how Lyssa is 4 months pregnant and Lo only had 4 months on her lease and she’s still living with Kenny. It should be up by now but worse case have a month left. Why not stay with her mom for that short time and then get her own spot. No lease breaking, no Kenny popping… anyway, Lyssa’s baby daddy is probably Kenny since it’s a mystery.
I thought I was wrong when Kayla popped up but Kenny’s really wilding. Ordinarily I would hate him but this is kind of to justify Lo’s behavior so I was expecting his villain arc.
So annoyed with go for my shot to find out I’m pregnant troupe. Her shot was due months ago
I think I would have been more supportive of Lo if se didn’t rub me the wrong way in the beginning. She’s right, she had no reason to tell a stupid lie that blew up badly in her face but she really should have properly ended things with Kenny then there would be no damn lie to get caught up in.
I hadn’t expected Armias to respond the way he did to her news and just hang up but I understand where he’s coming from. I’ll give him his moment to be a brat. But if he continues I’d side eye his ass like I do Lo.
Based on how things ended I’m looking forward to book 2. I’m hoping I feel differently about Lo in that installment.

so good
This book was fun! Ali loved him some doll baby. They was nasty too. Loved the family aspect as well. Pissed this ended on a cliffhanger. I wanted to fight the culprits so damn bad!
Armias momma was so trifling. A three year age gap is not that much! I usually don’t like lyrics in a book but they were A1 in this book. A few missing words from sentences. I would expect somebody from New Orleans to know the word Beaucoup and not use bukoo.

Storyline was very predictable but was a quick “hood” read. I’d like to see Cion Lee stretch herself more. Beyond the usual storylines and same Pierre and Martell connections.

NOW PICTURE MY FACE WHEN A LOT NEEDS TO GO DOWN AND I SEE I'M AT 95%!!!! Ahhhhh but I am enjoying the hell out of this book, I just need book 2 EXPEDITIOUSLY!!
Now, Kenny and Homegirl (no spoilers) are for the streets! I knew she was a hater but I never thought she would take it THAT far! I can't wait until everyone gets what they deserve.
Damn, is that your man or your son!? I can't stand his momma!
Now granted, Lourdes definitely should have handled things differently but imma give her grace because of her age and because in every other aspect she handles herself and her business so well, but I KNEW Armias was head over heels and he fell first and fast and was going to be beyond pissed!! Naz....is she gonna be a problem!?

Of the drama from The beginning bc I know a trifling b*tch when I see one. There were a few misspellings and grammatical errors but not enough to take me out of the story. I do sometimes skim over the long passages of song lyrics bc as much as I love music I don’t always need them

2.5 or maybe 3 stars. I really don’t know.
This one was on brand for this author. A lot a lot a lot of repeated details and literally unnecessary words. Why are we getting reminders or playbacks (couldn’t think of a better word) as if we are reading the next book so we need to be updated. Just like I knew, the FMC is left alone and pg in the end, smh. (i was wondering if she was going to move to another state). So next she will find a new man until she run back into the MMC and then the back n forth game will start…. until the next one.

I don’t like to be left hanging….
I understand the suspense, leading up to the next book. However, I don’t like the waiting game. I’m an avid reader and Ms. Cion Lee is one of my favorites. When I’m reading a book, I’d like to finish the whole book. When it’s broken up into a trilogy or series I forget about it and read something else. My opinion.
The book was cute. Would’ve been cuter if it was all finished and ready to go.

Yes ma’am I am here for it…listen Lourdes was annoying me real bad maybe it was the age….but she put her big girl panties and handled her business…Now Armias…he very much gave will a hurt dog holler…oooooh and his momma need five fingers to the face..straight open hand and closed fist…wheewww that part 2 is very much needed like yesterday!!!
