Murder Checks Inn delivered exactly what I was hoping for from a cozy mystery: an inviting inn setting, a well-paced mystery, and reveals that kept me interested throughout. Best of all, I didn’t guess whodunit, which I always appreciate!
Most of the characters were distinctive and entertaining, although I found Maiden’s sister, Vonny, more tiresome than endearing. Her parents also didn’t add much to the story; I think the premise could have worked just as well with Maiden and Vonny running the inn themselves.
My biggest frustration was Chief McAlister. Although he was supposed to be a seasoned former big-city police officer, he often seemed surprisingly amateurish. His petulance about being “in charge” felt unprofessional and whiny. I also wish the flirting and sexual tension had felt a little more mature—it could still have been light and witty without veering into childishness.
That said, this was a fun, easy read with a genuinely unpredictable mystery, and it lived up to the cozy-mystery promise. I enjoyed it enough that I’ll definitely give the next book in the series a try.

Found this to repetitive in the same sentences and rather boring . Kept going over the same info and for me a slow read .
