This was a gut-wrenching millennial love story that definitely delivered on the emotion. If you enjoy Nicholas Sparks-style romances and don’t mind an ending that leaves your heart a little bruised, this is absolutely worth picking up.

I did have a few questions while reading that kept it from being a full five stars for me. The time jump made Caroline’s decision to end the relationship after a single argument feel like a much bigger escalation than I expected, even though I completely understood why Brad’s interfering with her and Cade’s relationship would be upsetting to her. I also found myself wanting a little more context for some of the characters’ motivations and family dynamics. Caroline and Lizzie often read older than nineteen and twenty-one, and because they’re living on their own with virtually no mention of their parents for much of the book, I spent a good portion of the story wondering if there was a larger family backstory I had missed.

Those are very much personal reader questions—I tend to overanalyze character motivations and worldbuilding—but overall I still found this to be an emotional, bittersweet romance that I think will resonate with readers looking for an aching nostalgic millennial first-love story.

I was lucky enough to be a beta reader for this book!

Not every love story is a happy ending. Lots of lost loves and ones that got away. Everyone has a story, good, bad or ugly, that helped shape them into who they become. I cried, laughed and everywhere in between.

So honored to be one of the first to read it 🫶

This book absolutely wrecked me. I’m talking about real tears. This is a story of two people being so in love and love just not being enough. You have Caroline who loves with such commitment that she is willing to put her wants and desires on the back burner for the future that Cade is building for the two of them. Caroline who slowly starts to lose herself because she’s not willing to speak her mind on the issues she’s having within the relationship. The girl who no longer recognizes herself. And then there’s Cade. Sweet sweet Cade. Naive Cade. Cade who carries guilt for the actions of others. Cade who unintentionally dismantles everything beautiful he could have had with Caroline for his constant determination to “do the right thing”. Oh Cade. The man who is going to break all of our hearts by the time we are done with this book.

I so desperately wanted a different outcome for this book and I found myself going through the “what ifs”. I quickly realized that Caroline’s decision never altered Cade’s path because his loyalty to his brother would have led him to the grave no matter what.

What a breathtaking, heartbreaking rollercoaster of a book! ❤️‍🩹

I went into this story expecting a beautiful romance because everything felt so lovely, sweet, and perfect from the start. But I never could have anticipated the emotional wrecking ball that was heading my way. This book had me sobbing like a baby.🤧😭

My heart completely breaks for Blondie.💔 Throughout the entire book, he was such a lovely, absolute gentleman. Yes, he made a mistake , and oh man, what a mistake it was, but I still loved him anyway, flaws and all. What gutted me the most was watching him own up to his actions. He chose to do what was right over what he actually wanted, completely hurting himself in the process just to do the honorable thing.

Until the Day I Die is an unforgettable, high stakes emotional journey. I enjoyed every single second of reading it, even while it was tearing my heart to pieces.💚

All The Feels

Phew! Man this book gave me all the feels. Don’t go into this story thinking you are going to get a happy ending, because you won’t.

This book is everything young love is. It is sweet, butterflies in your belly. It is comfort and routine. It is being observant until you stop. It is messy and filled with miscommunication. It is jealousy and not wanting to be left behind while trying to remain supportive. It is two people who love each other so much trying to fit their dreams together. And sometimes it’s too hard.

Thank you Tania for a beautiful and heartbreaking story. I loved Cade until I didn’t, and then still kept hoping for the best! It was real and raw! Oh! And Gig’em Aggies! 😘

Absolutely loved this book. I thought it was an easy going read with a great love story. I felt it was like a Nicholas sparks style love story smashed into suspense and intrique. Leaves you completely emotional.
