This was such a fun read. For me highlight of the book was Logan. He was such a joy to read! Incorrigible, wicked but with a heart of gold.
For the whole world Charlotte is a badass spy but only with Logan she showed her vulnerability. Loved their bond and how protective they were with each other.
And Logan’s jealousy was🔥🤌🏻.
The plot was fast paced and enjoyable.
I can’t wait to read one secret US Marshal’s story. Especially after that ending.

So, I will admit when I went into this book, I wasn't overwhelming happy to do so. Confession time, when I first was introduced to Logan for me as a hero, he was a pass. I don't know why but he rubbed me the wrong way. But because it was Cynthia Eden wrote it there was no way I wouldn't be reading it.
For the first couple of chapters, I was still not sure then the cracks in Logan started to show, and we saw a different man. One I could understand much better. He shows the world what he's become but also what he needs to survive. Soon you watch him with the people who he really cares about and there is a real difference in him.
As the book progressed, I started to fall totally in love with Logan. Most of that has to do with the way he treats and totally loves Charolette. There are also his grandmother and Jake. But Charolette makes him a softer man. She brings out the side that wants to protect above all others and love so much it would kill him to let her go.
Happily, Charolette is the perfect woman for Logan. She understands him and makes him want to be a better person. But even Charolette who's believes in law & order has her limit when it comes to someone trying to hurt her Logan. That is the line they aren't allowed to cross. Logan brings into her life what she is missing and shows her a different way of thinking.
I am so picky with my giving 5 stars because to me the story has to rock my world in some way. I love most the books I read but when one makes me want to start back at the beginning so I can be rocked again then I have no choice but to give it 5 stars.

Depuis qu’on connaît Logan, j’étais hyper enthousiaste à l’idée d’avoir son tome et je dois avouer que j’ai dévoré son histoire avec Charlotte : elle est à la fois badass, fragile et mignonne et lui est également badass, romantique et un peu dingue <3 Bref, leur romance était forte en tensions et en rebondissements mais j’en ai adoré chaque page ! Et l’intrigue avec l’horrible serial killer était top !
J’ai HYPER hâte de voir comme Sebastian et Harper vont se retrouver !
Bref, une romance à suspense sexy et pleine de rebondissement à lire sans modération !

I’ve been super excited for Logan’s story ever since we first met him, and I have to admit I devoured his story with Charlotte : she’s badass, vulnerable, and cute all at once, while he’s badass, romantic, and a little crazy <3 In short, their romance was packed with tension and twists, but I loved every single page ! And the plotline involving the horrible serial killer was fantastic !
I am SO eager to see how Sebastian and Harper’s story unfolds next !
All in all, a sexy twist-filled suspense romance that I love reading!

Holy alpha! Logan was obsessive and protective to the max and I adore this author for creating him like that! This had some serious character development, and I loved watching him constantly try to protect Charlotte while she was just as determined to protect him. And Logan was NOT having it. That made for some seriously fun moments that added a layer of charm to their story that I wasn’t expecting.
Their banter was sharp, quick, and fun. The danger was extreme. The chemistry was nuclear. And oh my gosh, what these two had each been through…my heart ached for them. I loved how this story kept unfolding. One thing led to another then another. There was barely a moment for these characters to catch their breath. Or myself for that matter. It definitely kept me turning pages.
Simply put, this just ratcheted up the list to one of my top favorites by this author!

I voluntarily reviewed "WHEN HE PLAYS" another hit by Cynthia Eden who in my opinion never disappoints keeping me engaged from the beginning to end, with danger, action, attraction, twists keeping you turning the pages.
Logan Sterling is a crazy funny playboy who has a wonderful heart dealing with bad boys working for someone who deals in Grey areas in the Criminal Underworld, hes never dealt with being a hero but he didn't have a choice in the matter having to work with gorgeous, infuriating CIA Agent Charlotte Webb who's looking for a serial killer, being use to working with people in the Underworld he's very good at being bad, wanting to make sure Charlotte will wish she'd never met him.
Charlotte isn't happing about playing being his assistant to get into the Underworld where her serial killer she looking for might be so she goes along with playing the role of his assistant.
OMG!!! Logan & Charlotte take you one crazy rollercoaster ride the witty banter & the chemistry that's undeniable between these two she swears that kiss he gave her won't change her mind even though he's sexy as sin she's in the law he's not, already saved him twice, he smitten for sure.
Will Logan & Charlotte end up together especially after he steps up when the serial killer goes after her, no one will hurt the woman he's come to love, this is one read you absolutely don't want to miss getting couldn't put down til finished.

Charlotte Webb is a CIA operative and has gone undercover as a personal assistant. She is working for Logan Sterling, a rich casino owner. Charlotte needs to be introduced to Logan’s acquaintances. They believe one of them is a serial killer. Logan doesn’t expect to fall for anyone but he is drawn to Charlotte. When someone tries to kill him, Charlotte then becomes his bodyguard to be near him twenty four seven. Then they pretend to be lovers but to sell it, Logan gets her to marry him. Now Logan will do anything for Charlotte and when she goes to trade herself for another woman, Logan will stop at nothing to get to her.
I believe this is my favorite so far. Action. Steamy. Suspense. Logan is protective and falls head over heels for Charlotte. Charlotte really doesn’t want love. She doesn’t want to end up like her mother when her father died. You do not want to miss this story! I voluntarily read and reviewed this for the author.

When He Plays is book 8 in the truly exceptional Protector and Defender series. It can easily be read as a standalone, but for a closer look at both Logan and Charlotte's boss, I highly recommend at least the previous book. Like the others, this is a clever blend of a heartfelt romance and a suspense plot with a number of red herrings which kept me guessing until the last. But it's really the writing style that sets these stories apart: spirited banter and tongue-in-cheek internal dialogues that I'd expect in a rom com - but we're talking murder and a serial killer here. Add to that the very detailed and realistic way of describing the scenes which had me 'seeing' them vividly in my mind and I was literally reading about bloody crimes and deadly attacks while smiling from ear to ear. Can't wait for the next protector to secure his protectee! I was fortunate to have received an early copy and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.

When He Plays, A Protector and Defender Romance book 8 by Cynthia Eden gives us a story that this author writes best. A hero who blurs the line between bad and good, even surprising himself with the good he does. A heroine who is strong, principled but sometimes gets in over her head. CIA operative Charlotte Webb (I love this name, is it a shoutout to the children’s book?), is paired with Logan Sterling who is someone well acquainted with the underbelly of society. What happens is that she saves his life, he falls hard for her even if he doesn’t want to admit it and then she is in danger. One wild rollercoaster ride where you are pulling for these two not to just survive but find their way to true love. Classic Cynthis Eden book from beginning to end is When He Plays.

Logan Sterling is my new book boyfriend!
Poor Logan never stood a chance against Charlotte Webb. From the very first page of this story you could just tell that Logan was a take charge man who took crap from no one. So I found it very funny that he got roped into letting Charlotte and her CIA crew talk him into letting them work with him. I’ll be honest when I say that I didn’t quite know what to think of Charlotte at first, but watching her interact with Logan and how she acted around him, I soon found myself cheering that girl on. As this story unfolds, you’ll find yourself being pulled more and more into it and trying to figure out the mystery of who is the guilty party. This really is a great book!

Logan is a playboy, a bad boy, a con artist, who just got snared in Charlotte’s Webb. She’s the bad A, by the book, good girl who dazzles Logan with her wit and rules. She’s playing his assistant, But she’s actually a CIA operative who is forcing Logan to cooperate with her undercover work.
Things are fast paced, steamy and fun. Of course there’s a bad guy and Logan has to go into overprotective mode 24/7. It’s charming seeing him stymied by Charlotte. She’s also attracted to him.

Logan demands your attention from the second he steps onto the page. I couldn't wait for his story after we met him in Cynthia's last book, and I knew adding Charlotte to his world would bring lots of fireworks! Charlotte is a badass, and when she opens up to show her vulnerable side, you know Logan is going to fill her empty spaces. Their romance is packed with tension and twists I didn't see coming. Cynthina has given us another one of her gritty, funny, loving stories, and I cannot wait for the next one! 10+ stars from me!

This is such a fantastic book and I was hooked from page one. I love how quickly Logan falls for Charlotte. He’s so possessive and I love how he will do anything for her. I also stayed on edge, who is the serial killer? Loved being shocked. Charlotte didn’t want to be like her Mom but ends up falling so hard for Logan and I loved their happy ever after. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this book. After reading 4 books by other authors this book was a treat.
I thought that Logan and Charlotte had good chemistry. They seemed to play off of each other seamlessly.
It was fun picking out who the characters in the next book will be. I am looking forward to reading it.
This book was one of the better ones in the series, if not the best.

Great story!
Read the book in one night. I love Logan's attitude, his sex appeal and definitely his bad boy image. I love the chemistry of Charlotte and Logan. Is this the ending of Jezebel? You never know!

This was my first Cynthia Eden book, and it was a BANGER! Logan comes off as an absolute prick in the beginning. But you start to see his attitude change as Charlotte weaves her web. Edge of the seat the whole time!

Number eight in this series was great! I have loved each installment and am never disappointed. Cynthia Eden packs a punch with romance, suspense and characters who always win my heart!
Can't wait for the next installment!

Loved this book! Cynthia Eden an author QUEEN! This is the 8th book in the Protect and Defend series. Each book can be read as a standalone.
