I want to cry over the ending of this story, it's so freaking adorable !

The previous book, Layla got herself into a mess and Carter had to find her before it's too late. So this book starts off with the thrilling story I can't take my eyes off, Carter is a superhero saving Layla while she's running around and trying to get herself in a trouble. I don't like that she's always brainless and reckless, and sometimes she's annoying as hell. But this book isn't bad at all. In the contrast, it's sexy and smoking hot.

I really enjoyed this trilogy after all. Taking the Fall has the vibes of mafia movie and those love scenes also set my heart on fire !

Think of these as some light 4 "smut heavy/story not so much" stars."

If you are expecting a deep storyline with super fleshed out everything you might be disappointed. But as long as you know what you getting - and are in the mood for it (like I very much was) - you'll definitely enjoy it.

Short, sexy, and chock full of ridiculous alpha-ness, I enjoyed the series as a whole and would say it's my favorite my Riley to date.

Although with the amount of sexual fluids flying all over the place throughout, I was imaging some crime scene style body fluid spatter straight out of a CSI style blunt force trauma episode, but whatevs. Just sayin...

I think this is my favourite so far.

Carter is even more OTT crazy and possessive and Layla is one lucky woman.
This is the end of Carter and Layla's story, all threats are dealt with a lot of sex along the way.

I'm a great lover of epilogues anyway but this one is absolutely beautiful.

My dad had a friend who used to read books. But whenever we went over to the guy’s house, my mom would strictly tell a younger version of me to stay away from his book stash.

Can you guess why?

Bcz those were the sleazy, a book a dime, kinda stories written in Hindi, the kind that shady booksellers sold at railway stations late in the night when the people waiting for the train had literally nothing to do to keep them entertained. My mom wanted to keep my innocence intact and so I never got to read those books and never got to know what those books actually had in them. But after reading this series, I know now. I know exactly what was in those books! :P

I hope you’re proud of me, mom *waves at his mom*
Okay please don’t disown me, pretty please?

Like…this series is a mind-numbing, sex filled, clichéd, cheesy af and most importantly, sexist af book but I guess that’s what it was supposed to be, right? So job well done!

But I guess this works on me in the way it shouldn’t. It makes me laugh my head off with the kind of sex scenes they have. Especially all the forced naivety shown by Carter about him hurting the baby in Cherry’s womb bcz his d*ick is frigging 10 inches? I mean we got it that he's big. Like big, big. Got it!

And that had me laugh out loud so bad that my boss turned around and looked at me all angry and I laughed some more! Yeah so this is what I will be getting fired for, probably! Thanks, Sade! :P

I’ll admit that the writing is half way decent and funnily, believe it or not, it does have a half-baked story line that even tries to maintain some suspense. I didn’t really want to hurl the book but it was nothing good either. But all that macho guy act from Carter just cracks me up! :P

I had thought to use so many innuendos in this review but I am holding onto them for the final part. Off to it then! :D

Check out this and my other reviews at My Blog

I am going to review here for all 3 parts in this serial.

Parts 1 and 2 ending in Cliffhangers.

Normally I avoid the "serial" as to be quite honest they tend to grate on my nerves.

But this popped up on my KU when I was browsing for something to try so thought I would give it a go.

All in, it was an ok 3 stars.

It never really got too deep (I would have maybe liked more of a back story for the hero) other than the hints we just got.

I had to be honest with being uncomfortable with the age difference when they talked about their past, as she was 16 and he was 26, although the story is all set in the present with the heroine at 24 and the hero at 34.

I can see where the author wanted to go with Carter making him all OTT possessive, but tbh, it did not work, there is a fine line between Alpha and comically Neanderthal I feel, and it strayed to much into the latter here. It was hard to take him seriously.

Over all, it was a bit predictable, a bit cheesy but an enjoyable enough series that I am glad I got through KU as opposed to having to buy the trilogy.

3.5 stars.

Though this series isn't a favorite of mine, it still kept me entertained for the most part. It was a delight to read about Carter's over the top possessiveness over Layla, so if you love an obsessive caveman alpha hero I bet you'll enjoy this book like I did.

Short, sweet, sexy and filled with outrageously hot steamy scenes, Alexa Riley is indeed an author to look out for! If you're in the mood for a light, smut-filled series without much emphasis on the plot/story line BUT will leave you breathless and panting for more, then you're in the right page.

Note: First two books in this three-part serial ends in a cliffhanger. This one has an epilogue and we get to see Carter and Layla's future together. Safe and definitely no cheating/no other women involved whatsoever. The 4th book is about Saint and Jeanette's story, which I'll take pleasure in reading soon.

Book Description

"Carter has spent years protecting her from this man, but now Layla has fallen right into his hands. With his world crashing down around him, Carter won't stop until he gets the vengeance he deserves. But will he succeed in saving the only person he has ever loved?"

Well holy Shizz that was freaking epic! Carter and Saint are so protective over the women they love and it's great to see. Carter and his asshole ways will make you fall for him harder than ever.

I loved every single bit about this book, the revenge, the love, the sadness and the happiness and then getting to experience daddy Carter was something else, he's adorable omg.

Alexa Riley did amazing with volume for, it had everything I wanted and MORE, especially the sex, that was incredibly HOT! I can't wait to read the next book, volume 4

Review for Taking the Fall Volume 1-3 by Alexa Riley

Oh, Alexa Riley, what you do to me with your author greatness. Taking the Fall is a serial about an overly obsessed alpha and the object of his love and obsession. His Cherry.

Lord Carter is hot on an epic kind of way. And his fierceness over Layla is panty melting. There is a perfect balance of smut and storyline in this book that completely sucks you in. The characters are completely consuming and you instantly root for them to have a HEA.

Of course, the author is a sadist and just when you think things are going right she gives you a cliffhanger that leaves you dying for the next volume. I’m writing this review for all three at one time in order to avoid any spoilers. I’ll be honest, I’ve been lucky enough to read Riley’s books prior to release, but with this one I bought volumes one and two to read at my leisure. (Even bloggers like to have a ‘me’ book every so often.) Well, I finished #2 and sent the author an OMG ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! message and because she took pity on me I found #3 in my email the next day. Definitely made this book whore happy. (Yep spoiled. Thanks Alexa!)

Let me just tell you, after the holy crap did that just happen feeling I was left with at the end of #2 the omg this is perfect feeling that #3 gave was amazing. Everything about this serial is a must read now. Riley’s best work to-date. I am so ready to read Saint’s story!!

4 1/2 stars, This was a great conclusion to this series. Carter is just as possessive, and jealous in this volume as the others and we also see his sweeter, softer side. Layla is his world as long as she is safe, happy, and with him Carter is happy. Everything is tied up nicely with all the questions answered. We get a really sweet epilogue showing us years down the road, and then again many, many years down the road which gives a really cute glimpse into the kids lives. This is a great quick hot series/volume that I highly recommend. On to Volume 4, which is about the friends of Carter and Layla.

Carter is out for revenge, he gave eight years of his life waiting for revenge. With his woman by his side he is wanting to end this but he doesn't expect the end to be close and a shift in plan.

Great read, this is a couple I just cant get enough of.

Mushy gushy Alpha-Male story.

Here is the thing, these books are over the top, unrealistic and downright jaw dropping at some points. I mean seriously, the man wont let her walk around in yoga pants outside the house because "no one can see whats mine". That kind of shit would piss me off in real life, but we read books because that is the fun of it. Sure, he is crazy overprotective of Cherry and sure, he is super territorial - but that is honestly some of the best stuff to read.

We all know what were getting when we read Alexa Riley - and she delivers perfectly every time!

On to the next!

Volume #3 is even hotter and steamier as Carter and Cherry face their past and the man who has been trying to take it all away. Carter’s vengeance knows no bounds and he won’t stop until both of them gain their freedom. Having Cherry all to himself is what he yearns for, but when she’s taken by her father he realizes this won’t end until he does something about it. This series has it all, a growling and hot alpha-male, dangerous suspense, and the hottest steamy scenes you’ll ever encounter. A simmering ending with a much needed HEA!

2.75 stars for all 3 books in the series.. Fun books w/ a j/p dominant H who doesn't abuse the h. The author has a nice writing style.
I liked both H/h. I wish the author developed them more. Just not enough substance to the story. A shame b/c the bones were there. Plus the sex was hot.

Taking the Fall: Vol 3 wraps up Carter and Layla’s story. I’ve been enjoying this series quite a bit, though at times Carter can be too caveman-ish for my liking. But he has already proven that he truly cares for Layla so I just rolled my eyes and read on. For me, the ending of their story was predictable and not so predictable, both.

Layla’s crime lord of a father hired Carter as her bodyguard when she was 16. They’ve been attracted to each-other ever since, though Carter is quite a bit older than her. He wanted her but knew she’s too young to take this to the next level. Knowing that she feels the same didn’t help, but Carter was biding his time to make her his. One night changes it all. Something happens and throws Carter in jail 8 yrs. for manslaughter. The details of that night would escape Layla completely but no one told her exactly what happened. Not even Carter. When she finally escapes her a$$hole of a sire, 4 yrs. into Carter’s jail time, Layla goes to see him in hopes that he still feels the same about ‘them’. Unfortunately, she returns brokenhearted, as Carter acts as if he didn’t care any longer.

4 more yrs. passes by and Layla is trying to move forward with her life, though she can’t forger Carter no matter what. She might’ve thought that he doesn’t care for her at all, yet she had no idea that Carter’s been keeping tabs on her thru his friend Saint all along. Incidentally, it was also the time of his release and the moment he’s out, his first line was ‘Where is she’? *swoon* Carter then finds Layla’s apartment and sweeps her off her feet for a night. All night long he stayed with her, proving that he cares. That he never wanted anyone but her in all these years. Truth be told, he hasn’t been with any woman ever since he met Layla all those years ago! But in the daylight, Layla finds herself all alone yet again, as Carter has vanished without telling her where he’s going.

3 more months pass without any sign of Carter. In the meantime, Saint has been seeing Layla’s BFF Jeannette. While Layla is the introvert type, Jeannette is all wild, one-night-stand type. But Saint thought he got her well as whatever they had seemed much deeper than a fling. It all changes when Layla finds out she’s pregnant and he blows his cover in shock. To show her support, Jeannette dumps his a$$ because of that betrayal. After that, Saint makes sure Carter knows about the pregnancy.

Layla wasn’t amused. She wouldn’t give Carter a chance, until he explains that he has been making arrangements to take revenge on her father; the bastard who made his ‘Cherry’ suffer. He also wants revenge for the murder of his parents a long time ago, that was Layla’s father’s handiwork for sure. To prove his devotion he finally begins opening up about that fateful night, when Layla was beaten by her father’s man so badly that she lost a part of her memory in the trauma. She and Carter were planning to elope and this was Layla’s father’s warning to them both. Carter killed a man to save her, and we all know what happened after that.

Carter had already thought of everything. He knew he’d need a heavily secured place to keep Layla safe while he goes about his business. Both she and Jeannette are moved into this warehouse that’s sure to have been more secured that Pentagon... until Layla’s daddy dearest returns and finds a way to blackmail her out of there.

Vol. 3 takes off right where the previous installment left off. Layla and Jeannette are kidnapped and thrown in another ramshackle warehouse where her father’s base is. They’re forced to witness some crap stuff, including Layla’s mother’s debasement. She is now a junkie with no hope and prostitutes herself in exchange of the powder, all thanks to her father. Layla was surprised to see but somehow, not shocked at her miserable existence. But then, both her parents have always been cold and distant, so I wasn’t surprised.

Saint and Carter find a way to rescue them, while Layla’s father escapes. Though Saint finds himself in Jeannett’s good graces again, unfortunately, the trouble doesn’t die down with this. Layla had an on and off boyfriend for a while named Jason. He was your typical good-boy type, but they had no chemistry. Since Layla had never gotten over Carter, it was a doomed relationship right from the start. I didn’t think that Jason was anything else other than how he was portrayed because he was a minor secondary character... until he wasn’t. This really surprised me when he turns out to be Layla’s father’s spy. Layla was the holder of all her father’s account since he was hiding away. It’s also the reason why he kidnapped her, or so he tells Carter later on, to get her signature to withdraw money. After Jason makes another attempt to kidnap Layla to give him the access to that money, things starts moving real fast. Carter decides he can’t take any more chances with Layla and their baby’s life.

There were some pretty good scenes, alongside some HOT sex scenes. However, must admit that Layla-Carter’s relationship was becoming a bit too cheesy for my liking. I’m glad that this didn’t drag on, though I’m sure (and I hope) we’ll see more of them in Saint-Jeannette’s story, Falling In: Vol 4. 3.5 stars.

PS: I like having glimpses into the future of our H/h, reading updates, even then ‘18yrs. later’ is a bit of a stretch. Still it was funny to see Carter going caveman-ish about their daughter Mary, who has just turned 18. Apparently, Jeannette and Saint’s son seems to have an interest in her... umm, I think you get the picture. ;)

Mmmm espero averiguarlo

What an explosive finale! At least for the hottest couple, Carter and Layla, though luckily we have a new, too-hot-to-handle story with Saint and Jeanette in coming in part 4. Will they be any dirtier? Hopefully, we'll soon find out. In the meantime, I devoured this part full of violence, ugly villains, love in doubt and more Carter to drool over.

With a mafia atmosphere, the plot plunges the couple into the dangerous and murky waters of their past. Layla's parents play a major role in the action, planting seeds of doubt and trying to destroy their daughter's faith in Carter. Keeping the pace fast and the tone feisty and naughty, the author delivers lots of scenes that are fun, surprising, with a sort of caveman romance and undoubtedly the dirtiest you've ever read.

I liked the mix of criminal vendetta and lustful feasts of the flesh. I even had a laugh when Carter was trying to restrain his unstoppable need for Layla and she wouldn't accept less than his fullest collaboration ;o)

The overall feeling of the story might be over the top and hormonal, yet it's good fun and entertainment, and it also has a romantic side that throws a party at the end. I hadn't expected such a well-rounded resolution. It really covers everything from family to the future and I enjoyed it as much as the outrageously explicit sex scenes.

Now, it's only a question of waiting for part 4. I think Jeanette is keeping cool secrets that will make Saint's eyes pop out!

Jesus I love this series. way to end on a high note! Hot, demanding and super growly, Alexa gives you the climax you’ve been waiting for. Carter is still a force to be reckoned with, and Layla’s only grown stronger with each page. Even though she idiotically believes her father’s lies to lure her out of the safe house, once she realizes that shit’s going down, she woman’s up and manipulates that situation to her benefit. WELL DONE, LAYLA.

While Layla’s getting rougher, Carter’s getting a little softer around the edges – well, only when it comes to Layla. He’s still the dominant alpha man that you’ve grown to love in this series. He’ll do anything to keep Layla and the baby safe. ANYTHING. Jeanette and Saint are back in the picture and I was super happy to see their relationship grow too.

There’s suspense and hot fucking and even a little bit of sentiment. We’re not talking about a literary masterpiece here, but it’s not supposed to be. This is a fun, quick read that will get your juices flowing. I loved it!
