Finished it in four days!!! I couldn't wait to see what adventures awaited at the next fork in the road. Serious fun, but also serious subject matter that I thought about long after I read it. If you are a solo traveler who enjoys mingling with locals off the beaten track, then this book is for you. If instead, you are a tourist who does tours, then you'll see what you've been missing! A great read.

Globalocity: The Adventures of Raymond was far more than a travel adventure it was a journey through cultures, ideas, and self-discovery. Raymond's travels across India, China, Africa, and beyond kept me turning the pages because every destination introduced fascinating people, unexpected situations, and meaningful conversations.
What I enjoyed most was how the story balances humor, adventure, and deeper themes. It's not just about seeing new places; it's about challenging perspectives, questioning beliefs, and discovering what truly matters. The mix of colorful characters from gurus and historians to scientists and hackers makes every chapter feel fresh and unpredictable.
The writing flows naturally and paints vivid pictures of each location, making it easy to imagine traveling alongside Raymond. I also appreciated that beneath the entertaining adventure, the novel explores family, identity, philosophy, and the complexity of different cultures without feeling preachy.
If you enjoy books that combine world travel, thoughtful storytelling, memorable characters, and a touch of mystery, I highly recommend this one. It left me thinking long after I finished the final chapter, and it's one of those stories that reminds you how much there is to learn from the world and from yourself.

FIVE STARS. "Globalocity: The Adventures of Raymond by David Leberknight is an adventure story about world exploration with a funny and witty twist. Raymond wants to travel the world. He sets off on an extraordinary adventure to New York City and India. He might even stop in Brazil, if the mood strikes him. Along the way he meets incredible people and learns a lot about the world's culture, people's prejudices, and how they view Americans. The story is relaxed and told in a carefree manner, but there are a number of sub plots woven into the story that tackle deeper issues like religion, philosophy, and politics. The story even asks questions about life itself. So prepare for an epic adventure, and make sure to fasten your seat belt.
Globalocity is a fun, engaging read that I couldn't put down. Once I started, I had to finish it and know how Raymond's ride ended. Leberknight did an excellent job of creating memorable characters that rocked their world, even the new, strange and unique cultures that they were visiting. I also really enjoyed the sub plots within this story. So while most of the story was laid back and cool, the subplots gave it an added dimension, or a depth that the story really needed.
