The Ties That Bind kicks off with the exact vibe of a real estate file that looks innocent until you realise it has more red flags than a bargain‑bin romance novel. One minute Bill Simon is reviewing documents, the next he’s basically starring in a cartel‑funded episode of Law & Order: “Family Edition.”

This is a gripping legal thriller which kept me on the edge of my seat throughout! When Bill marries Sharon he knew he was marrying into an influential and powerful legal dynasty. Eager to succeed at his new firm, Green & DeWitt, Bill’s first case is a complex real estate transaction with ties to the Green family empire. Bill’s routine due diligence leads him to discovering offshore accounts, shell companies, and falsified property records. Things turn more dangerous when he uncovers connections to political corruption, cartel money, and a network of powerful men, all of whom want their secrets to remain so. Shockingly he realises the conspiracy reaches his father-in-law’s inner circle.
Meanwhile, Sharon fights to protect her family’s public image, but uncovers a sinister connection between her family and the drug cartel. As the legitimacy of her father’s enterprises is called into question, Sharon wants answers about the empire she grew up in. Bill and Sharon find themselves having to choose between the truth, their ambition, and loyalty. I was thoroughly engaged in this latest book The Ties that Bind by James Rosenberg. Rosenberg’s books have vivid character development as well as a compelling storyline. The main characters Bill and Sharon are both smart and very supportive of each other. This book explores corporate corruption and differs in approach from his previous books. Rather than focusing on a trial, this book focuses on what happened to gather the evidence needed for a grand jury hearing. The tension created in the plot grows continuously from the outset. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and look forward to the sequel.

I enjoyed this book from start to finish. It started off with action and hooked me. Lies, deceit, betrayal, and secrets are all in here and keep you waiting to see what you will uncover next. The chapters are from different perspectives but it never took away from the story. I can't remember off the top of my head exactly how many chapters there were but I know it was above 30. Don't let that deter you though! Each chapter either packed a punch or was a filler that led into what was going to happen. The chapters were also fairly short but the story kept moving without a hitch.

Ummmm, what?!? So, first time reader of James Rosenberg and wow been awhile since my heart raced that much over something “clean” lol. I have never read a legal/financial thriller before so this was an all-new experience for me and I gotta say I cannot wait for book two in this series to see what will happen next. Fast paced but well-developed story that keeps you in suspense and on edge from start to finish. Bill thought marrying Sharon and entering the Green family dynasty was the best thing that ever happened to him. Everything starts to crack and then shatter once he is given a case that makes everything become clearer and less innocent. The deeper he goes the more his wife Sharon learns about her family the more the binds dig. I am still just sitting here in shock about what I just finished reading with my mind spinning. Now the wait for book two.

WOW! i LOVED this story! It is full of action and suspense! The way the story is told from different perspectives keeps the thrill high and kept me turning pages late into the night! I enjoyed getting to know how each character played into the drama and how they would react. Lorenzo threw me off as he is more than the surface lawyer. No other info is given on how he acquired all his new secrets. Other than that…Famtastic! I look forward to more in this series!

A fantastic, fast-paced thriller!
I loved how quickly I became immersed in the story and nervous about the welfare of the main characters. Given the author's deep experience in the law, I can imagine that aspects of the story have happened in real life.

The Ties That Bind is book 1 of the "The Legacy Of Lies" series by James Rosenberg. I haven't read a legal thriller in a long time, so I was super excited to read this. Im not gonna lie, I absolutely ate up every word at max speed. I finished this on just a couple days because of how genuinely entertaining this book is. I absolutely cannot wait for more of this series!

The author did an incredible job of balancing the legal aspect of the narrative with the more tense, haunting conspiracies at work in the cartel's moves and the connections their actions had to the protagonist’s family. The level of world-building was phenomenal, allowing chapters to alternate between the protagonist and other characters, giving readers a more immersive experience as they delved into this narrative.

What I particularly enjoyed was the way the story kept building tension. Just when I thought I had a handle on what was happening, another secret or complication surfaced. The combination of courtroom drama, corruption, cartels, and deadly consequences gave the story plenty of suspense and kept me turning the pages.
I also appreciated that this wasn't simply a story about solving a crime. At its heart, it is about loyalty, family, power, and the ties that can bind people together—or put them in terrible danger. The characters are forced to make difficult choices, and I found myself wondering who could actually be trusted.

This story is by an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up. This is an adventure thriller story that has twists and turns that left me sitting on the edge of my seat. One of the things that stand out the most about this author is their ability to use details that make me want to know more about not only the characters but what would happen next. I also enjoyed how I was pulled into the story from the beginning and kept engaged to the end. This is a story about Bill. He thought that marrying into a legal dynasty would be the thing that made him feel like he belonged. When he takes a real estate case that should have been simple but he soon finds out it is anything but. Bill and his wife soon become trapped between truth and loyalty. What happens is something you don’t want to miss. I enjoyed all the characters in this story. They are connectable, engaging and had me wanting to know what would happen next. I enjoyed watching the growth of the story which made it entertaining to read. This is a fast paced, hard to put down story that I found easy to read. I enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it.

Even though this is my first read from this author, Mr. Rosenberg proves he has a talent for crafting characters who felt real, and very determined … and he didn’t hesitate to push them to their limits.
We meet and follow Bill, who’s a newlywed lawyer eager to prove himself at his prestigious new firm, and Sharon, his intelligent and supportive wife who has a family legacy to uphold. What starts as a seemingly straightforward real estate deal quickly unravels into a web of corporate corruption, moral compromise, and personal risk.
Mr. Rosenberg weaves through the story an exploration of loyalty - both in marriage and in the professional world - while showing how ambition can sometimes collide with integrity … which added an extra layer to the compelling mix of suspense, heart, and legal realism.

I went into this book expecting a legal thriller, but the whole thing turned into a much bigger mess of secrets, money, and family drama. I really enjoy this genre, and man, when you find a book that hits different, you tell everyone! So here I am telling you about this doozy. There is so much going on but not in an overwhelming way. I felt like I kept getting juked from left to right because I didn’t know what was going to happen next. Sharon’s side of the story also adds a lot because she’s stuck trying to protect her family while realizing she may not actually know the people closest to her. The tension gets better as Bill and Sharon have to figure out who they can trust especially when loyalty starts coming at a pretty steep price. If you like thrillers where the danger comes from powerful people who have plenty to lose, this one gives you a lot to dig into. It is absolutely captivating and engaging from the first page to the very last. I’d recommend it for anyone who enjoys high-stakes investigations and that uncomfortable feeling that every answer is probably going to lead to an even bigger problem.

The Ties that Bind: A Legal Thriller of Corruption, Cartels by James Rosenberg. This is my favorite genre and it did not disappoint. I loved this book so much I read it in 2 days. Its the story of Bill who has married a lady named Sharon who is from a very well known and wealthy family. Bill thinks he's hit the jackpot because he truly love Sharon and this family is just an added bonus. What he finds out is the family is one card shy of a full deck. Its a crap show with all kinds of drama. When he takes over their legal paperwork he finds all kinds of red flags and most of those flags are leading back to the mafia. Sharon's family is tied deeply to the mob and they are looking to get away from them. Sharon is shocked and as she and Bill dig deeper into it they find more and more corruption. While they are investigating they are trying to figure out how to get away from the mafia without ruining the family name or worse dying. The more information they find the more dangerous it gets. Will they be able to get out alive and with Sharon's family in tact? Such a great legal thriller!

This story begins with the wedding of Bill and Sharon where a guest, Victor Torres a client of her father, Walter Green. As the story continues, Bill and Sharon are both working in companies associated with her father, Bill, a lawyer, has been assigned to look into deed transactions while Sharon, a senior executive at Sports world, have discovered separately information pointing to a specific cartel. As their search continues, it implicates Sharon's father's involvement with the Torres Cartel.
Read along and find out what happens once the two of them agree to work with Julia and Lorenzo, both lawyer's as they prepared a case to bring before a grand jury. Discover what steps Victor is willing to take to prevent them from accomplishing that task. Hear the testimony that is presented at the grand jury and what event happens that causes an uproar.
The story is well worth the reading and keeping your interest right till the end. Don't miss out!

The Ties that Bind is a suspenseful legal thriller that had me second-guessing which characters were truthful and which were protecting their secrets at all costs. When Bill married Sharon, he never thought that the family dynasty he was marrying into would be as secretive and explosive as it ends up being. Bill just wanted to join Sharon's family business and establish himself as a valuable asset on their legal team; little did he know about the family's deep connections to the cartel and other dangerous entities. Does Sharon know about her family's proclivities, or is she as innocent as she appears is a deep question that Bill is going to have to find the answer to on his own. This story had me pondering what I would do if I were in Bill's shoes and had to weigh my morals against the good of my marriage and the risks to my job, as well as my life. What a great read this was; such an exciting story from beginning to end.

This book really gripped me and hooked me from chapter one. The characters were very relatable which give it a feeling of being real, and very determined, we got to know and understand them on a different level, and they each were pushed to their limits. This legal thriller unfortunately was not for me. I felt like it took a long time to get going, and I didn’t feel particularly connected to either Bill or Sharon. I think I would have liked more about them and their background. I will say that there were several aspects to the novel that were not my cup of tea, so that could have gone some way to explain why I didn't enjoy this.
That being said, the writing was solid, and Rosenberg clearly knows his craft. I think I will give more of his work a go, but don't think this one is for me. I did think that the pace of the story picked up quite a bit towards the middle, which was good, and it was quite gripping at times, but overall I just don’t think this was my jam.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a thriller that focuses on the crimes hidden under the shiny veneer of the corporate world, and how family ties can sometimes draw us into situations we are not prepared for.

At no point did I feel like the story was moving along in a repetitive way, and there was always some detail that piqued my curiosity. I liked that the characters had believable motivations, as that made their decisions feel natural. The book is an easy read and strikes a good balance between suspense and moments of reflection. After finishing it, I kept thinking about various aspects of the story for quite a while. I think it’s an excellent choice. Everything is full of difficult decisions and unexpected consequences. The story conveys a constant sense of risk that keeps the reader engaged. When I closed the book, I was left with the impression that I’d spent my time well.

The Ties That Bind by James Rosenberg is a legal thriller that is full of suspense. When Bill Simon married Sharon Green, he had no idea what he was getting into. Sharon’s father was in deep to a drug cartel and Sharon didn’t have a clue. Through their jobs, both Bill and Sharon discover that Sharon’s father is involved in corruption and that his wealth comes from the Cortez cartel. As they both come to terms with the evidence they uncover, they make decisions that can tear the family apart. I found the relationship between Bill and Sharon to be the bright light. Their love and trust in one another never wavered as they watched the family that they love fall apart. This book is full of suspense, and you will enjoy it from the first page to the last.

This read was a really gripping legal thriller that pulled me in from the start! I loved the mix of family drama, corruption, cartels, and dangerous secrets, and the story kept me curious about what would be uncovered next. Bill and Sharon make a great team as they try to separate truth from family loyalty, and the twists and tension kept the pages turning. I especially enjoyed how the legal and real estate side of the story blended with the darker conspiracy elements, giving the book plenty of suspense without losing the personal side of the characters. Overall, this was an exciting, fast-moving read with plenty of intrigue, secrets, and unexpected connections. I definitely enjoyed the ride!

I'm a sucker for a good mystery/thriller and this one definitely hit the spot. The story grabs you right from the beginning. Like many of James' books, there are many twists and turns that keep you hooked. I particularly liked how several of the characters got more and more layered as the story developed. At the beginning, I thought I knew how it was going to pan out...I was totally wrong! The descriptions in the background painted a full story and one that made you feel like you were right there. I'm glad this book is a trilogy-- can't wait to find out what is next in store for the characters.

If it's possible, things are in more of an "uproar" after the first book??? There was so many untoward, vile , evilness going on, that I found it difficult to imagine reading more to this story- because it's book one!!!
Now I know I must endeavor to see more resolution, restitution, and closure. There is so much unfinished business left with the family, cops, perpetrators, and associates. There must be justice in a more complete form. I will pursue this until the end!!!

This is a great legal thriller. It has the perfect timing in the book. It doesn’t go too fast or too slow. It’s interesting to see how bill and Sharon come to their own conclusions and form their own opinions. It keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat throughout the book but is very close to reality and you can see yourself hearing about this happening to someone you know. This was well spent time reading this book.

Amazing… what a beautiful balance of trauma. If you love a duel pov this is the one ! There is nothing better than having all the answers from each pov as a story evolves. Literally from the first chapter it sink’s its teeth in to you. It was a fast pace thriller with an amazing author who understands the law, which for me gave the story more depth and merit. I’m so absolutely looking forward to reading more of James work.

I really enjoyed this story; it had great world development and character development. The story never becomes predictable, which is nice, as a lot of stories of this type can get repetitive. This author found so many ways to keep drawing you in and making you want to know more, making you crave the connections that follow. I personally can not wait to read more by this author.
