Picture this: You stole the shoes your boss asked you to chuck, (her Valentine’s gift by the way) and her invite to an exclusive restaurant so you could pretend to be part of the crème de la crème of society for just one night. Only to end up at an intimate dinner that led to the best one night stand of your life. Well… with your boss’s man🥴.
That’s exactly what the FMC, Eriife, did 🌚. The man she slept with, Jay (our MMC), is one of the wealthiest men in the country. That one night led to some unexpected changes in their lives.
Six months later, their paths cross again. This time, he’s her boss he’s determined to have her.
The reckless FMC and an annoying billionaire MMC combo made me have high expectations. For a story with so much potential, the execution was disappointing.
The space used for repetitive inner monologues could’ve been used to tighten the pacing and develop parts of the story that mattered. The entire story would’ve benefited from tighter structuring and editing, which would’ve given the emotional moments a stronger impact.
The MMC’s backstory is a perfect example. When certain revelations came to light, they didn’t hit as hard as they should have.
The romance between the main characters didn’t quite land. I didn’t believe in their chemistry. There were some cute moments, but the relationship needed a stronger build up.
Another thing I struggled with was the decision to introduce the POV of a side character halfway through the book, which could’ve been left out. There was also the odd ‘almost thriller’ subplot that threw me off.
Also, when it came to the title and synopsis, I had to double check the meaning of Rebound because my understanding of that term and what happened in this book were two completely different things.
Overall, Rebound had a strong premise for an interesting billionaire romance but didn’t live up to its potential.

This book was a short, sharp read, but it contained so many plot holes, like what? It was also so repetitive. Personally, I don’t think it was properly constructed.
The whole instalove shindig was crazy. They were acting like they’d known each other forever when they literally had a one-night stand, didn’t speak for six months, and then randomly met again. 😭 There were cute moments, but the chemistry was almost nonexistent.
Also, “his knuckles turned white” is such a familiar idiom, but something about using it to describe a Black character completely took me out of the scene 😭
And then the ending???
Lmao, at least it made me laugh 😂
