This Old House #4

Cinderella's Cowboy

Rate this book
Chad Anders doesn’t know why mousy Cynthia Henley trips all over her tongue when she’s around him. Nor does he understand his undeniable attraction to this good girl. Wild and sexy is his type, like the dream-girl he caught a glimpse of years earlier he’s never forgotten.

Cynthia’s superpower is invisibility, especially with men. It’s better for everyone that way. Besides, she’s got a cat. She’s okay. But when playboy-rancher Chad hires her, she’s got a chance to shine. Professionally, at least. Until she learns of his fascination with a mysterious dream-girl, who was actually nothing more than a shy teenager on an ill-advised dare all those years ago. Cynthia knows she’s no man’s dream-girl and never will be.

But there’s magic at the ball. Princesses glow in the starlight, princes appear out of nowhere, and, sometimes, they look a lot like cowboys…

3.5 Fairy Crush Comes True Stars
* * * 1/2 Spoiler Free
Take the framework of the Fairy Tale... switch the Charming Prince to ex-rodeo cowboy; have his Cinderella be a smart, capable woman who is saddled with twin step-sisters who are tied to the company she basically runs which is doing a fundraiser for said cowboy.

Both are interested in each other... but it takes a mangy stray kitten to eventually have them see the light and that they both are meant to be.....

This is a sweet, overcoming obstacles story and is linked to other books from the publisher.
Roxanne Snopek has not disappointed with this tale.

This is a quick read where the nice quiet good girl gets the handsome rich guy in the end. Not really a Cinderella retelling but there are similarities in the story lines and the hared working main character is often called Cinderella by her stepsisters simply because she puts in a lot of hours at work.
While not squeaky clean there isn't tons of sexual content (there is innuendo and talk of sex and skinny dipping but nothing close to a sex scene).
Short enough to be read in one sitting, I enjoyed this story.
Content: 2 or 3 swear words, some innuendo and talk of sex but no sex scene

Rating: 1 crappy “hero” was a ZERO Stars

Fairy tale re-tellings always interest me and the blurb to this one sounded so cute. A shy introvert of a heroine and a sexy cowboy sounded like a promising start. Sadly this one didn’t pan out liked I’d hoped.

The author managed to create ditzy, arrogant and overall clueless characters without a malicious bone in their bodies. That’s right, they were complete duds with hearts of gold. I still didn’t like any of them and found their low regard for the heroine demeaning and ridiculous. #Sorrynotsorry I wish Cyn would have grown a pair and instead of turning the other cheek and being a silent martyr in her own story, instead put her foot down and stood up for herself. I read it all the way through hoping this was going to happen only to be disappointed.

Cynthia Henley aka Cinderella is in business with her two step sisters. They are definitely the life of the party but when it comes to the administrative side of the business, well that falls under Cyn’s capable hands. Tired of always getting stuck micro managing the twins, Cyn is looking for a way to buy them out and finally start to run the business the way she wants too.

When her secret crush, Chad hires them for a charity event, Cyn knows this is her chance to really make a name for herself. But when the twins end up out of commission for the project, Chad will need to rely solely on Cyn to pull their shared vision to reality.

Like I mentioned before, the characters all were nice – Cyn even mentions that the twins are her best friends and that they all love each other – but I just couldn’t get over the fact that although they were nice to the heroine, smiling and being overly affectionate, they still took unfair advantage of her. They critiqued her all the time and I couldn’t believe they never saw how their “teasing” made Cyn feel. It was annoying to the extreme how clueless they were and how Cyn just sat back and took it without voicing any complaints. Even her step-mother (who again is described as a nice/good person) and her own father were two peas in a pod with their careless treatment of her and their special treatment of the twins by comparison.

Then there was the Zero of the story. Call me a prude but I hated the constant reminder of how attractive he found the twins compared to his supposed heroine. Did I really need it constantly shoved in my face that the twins were sexy, beautiful, and vivacious? Or how ordinary the heroine was compared to the amazing sexy can-do-no-wrong twins?!?! From the hero of the story? Nope. I really didn’t.

And I really hated how many times Cyn got overlooked by the supposed hero and how no one, not even Cyn, thought to ask or expect an apology for being abandoned, rejected or forgotten by him.

Also he suffers from foot in mouth syndrome.

“It’s amazing,” he continued. “You’re nothing like my usual type.”

“When I saw your stepsisters,” he said, “I was blinded. Temporarily. They probably have that effect on a lot of men.”

NOTE TO CHAD: PLEASE SHUT UP!

Would I recommend? Nope, sorry but I found this too aggravating to be able to recommend.

What a sweet and cute romance. Well written.

The heroine, Cynthia is called Cinderella by her Stepmother and two beautiful stepsisters. Cynthia has a business and her partners are her stepsisters (her stepmother invested the money but only if the stepsisters could be partners). But of course Cynthia does most of the work. Cynthia has always lived in the shadows of her sisters. In comes Chad, a wealthy cowboy who hires Cynthia to help with a his charity. Both are attracted to each other, but Cynthia believes he's just a typical playboy who can't be interested in her not with her step-sisters around. And so begins Chad's mission to win Cynthia's affection and love.

I really enjoyed Cynthia as a strong heroine. She was smart, sassy and very funny. Chad was so sweet in his attempts in wining Cynthia. Not always going about it in the right way, but his heart meant well. The romance was funny and sweet.

Enjoyable short read.

Cinderella’s Cowboy is the 4th and final book in the This Old House series and that makes me a tad sad as I don’t want to let go of all the wonderful, kind and sweet characters that played a part in all 4 books and made my life that extra bit joyful. I could so easily read more of these books if they featured the same characters. Yes, I want more, please.

A delightful contemporary Cinderella type story but with a little twist here and a little twist there.

Mousy, plain Cynthia and lady-killer, sexy rancher Chad aka Cinderella and Prince Charming, two beautiful stepsisters and not a wicked stepmother in sight, glass slippers, or a pumpkin though there is a ball, what kind, you’ll have to read this warm-hearted book to find out but I do suggest to start with book one.

Roxanne Snopek knows how to create heartwarming romances and always with a good sprinkling of humour.

Cinderella's Cowboy was a cute fairytale retelling. A hunky cowboy in need of an event planner. A workaholic designer and her two flighty but lovable stepsisters. A tiny wee kitten.

There really wasn't anything to dislike about it. Chad and Cynthia were nice. Hard working, dedicated, giving. Chad putting together a charity event to help at risk kids. Cynthia trying to befriend a tiny feral kitten. They're easy to like.

The romance is nice but slow moving though an awesome grand gesture at the end. Had me smiling and falling for the hero . I loved the grand gesture at the end. Made me smile and fall completely for the hero.

All in all. Cinderella's Cowboy was a sweet read. Short and entertaining. Though I can't say it's all that memorable it was still a nice way to spend an evening.

**My thanks to NetGalley and Tule Publishing, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is almost a Cinderella tale, however the step sisters are actually kind to our Cinderella and so is the step-mother.

Cynthia is a very hard working member of her family and doesn't go out and have much fun as she is usually working too hard. She is convinced that after a public humiliation that is put on youtube that her business will suffer, however it is a neighbour that comes to her rescue.

Chad Anders is a neighbour that uses Cynthia's business to help set up his new charity and to help with the big opening promotion night. Both have similarities in their lives that they did not see occurring and they are able to sympathise.

Chad really helps Cynthia and shows her that she is really the woman that he wants.

I’m honestly surprised at how much I liked this one. While this may be called Cinderella’s Cowboy, neither aspects play a very big role in the book, though, I feel like it was probably better off this way. This was just a nice, short book about two people falling in love.

I would have liked it at the end party if Cindy had stayed mad at Chad for a little while longer, is that too much to ask for?

Either way, I had a lovely time with this one.

Oh yeah, I don’t really understand who it was implying took the video so if anyone could let me know, that’d be swell.

I was given Cinderella's Cowboy in exchange for an honest review by Net Galley

Cynthia only ever got attention from men when they wanted to use her to get to her sisters. Chad Anders in no different only he wants to use her business to get what he wants, which is closer to her sisters. Her consolation will be she gets to prove her worth in business after all her crush will clearly come to nothing.

Chad is just sure it was one of Cynthia's sisters that he has been hunting for after seeing one of them streaking down a hotel hallway years before. His plan to get close to them back fires when all he can think about is the woman working her backside off to make his fundraiser a huge success.

I think I was expecting something steamy and sexy from the title and the blurb but instead all I got from the story line was a lot of 'oh poor me' pity party. Both Cynthia and Chad felt like second best to their older siblings and both truly want to stand out and I get that but should it have been made into a book? I don't know and overall I really just wasn't impressed with this story.

The premise was good, the execution, unfortunately less so.

We only got bare-bones glimpses of the backstory that was at the "heart" of the heroine's stutter whenever the hero was around and his strange fascination with her, never really delving into their "issues" that were also at the heart of their day-to-day interactions with pretty much everybody.
The characters themselves were one-dimensional at best, with everybody and their cat (literally) chomping off "air-time" of the two leads...At least the step-sisters could've been evil and given a little oomph to the proceedings.

Instead, we got a sweet, feel-good, bouncy little story with no real bite, and no real story.

Cinderella's Cowboy is a modern day Cinderella story with a twist! With 2 gorgeous stepsisters, Cynthia has always been the good girl, and always felt like a wall flower...quietly blending into the background. When Chad shows up to hire their company for his new charity organization, Cynthia couldn't be more eager to soar on the job...nor could she be more flustered around Chad. A man she assumes is a player, who she shouldn't want but does.

Chad is incredibly, unexpectedly attracted to Cynthia. When things get a bit chaotic on the job with Cynthia, she shines even brighter in Chad's eyes with the way she handles everything. He wants to get closer to her, but she is very resistant...how could he be interested in her?

Chad and Cynthia both have self esteem issues, they just show them in different ways. As they spend more time together the chemistry between them only increases. Will they trust in themselves and each other and take a chance together?

It took me a while to feel a connection to Cynthia...I would have liked more about her. I got the feeling she was quite young...I think she and her stepsisters still lived with their parents. I felt like I would have liked to know more about her background, past relationships, etc. to know what brought her to where she is today. I felt like I knew Chad better, he was more open and easier to read. I understood where he had been in life and where he is now. As a couple they definitely click, but it was more of a slow process.

I really enjoyed Cynthia's stepsisters and her relationship with them and her stepmother. Because this is a novella we didn't delve too deeply into this, but it worked well.

I loved all the tie ins to Cinderella from the stepsisters to the ball! Cinderella's Cowboy is an entertaining well paced read with a great message to have faith in yourself and don't be afraid to shine.

I'd recommend Cinderella's Cowboy to romance readers who are looking for a sweet, quick read.

Another great book from an author I always seem to enjoy. This Montana Born book concerns Cynthia Henley, who is nicknamed Cinderella by her beautiful, rich, spoiled twin stepsisters because she is always working hard. Her stepmother isn’t wicked and lent her the money to start up her own business but also wanted her daughters to be involved, too. The money is great but her stepsisters are not the most reliable of business partners! Cynthia is used to being invisible to men when her stepsisters are around and usually doesn’t mind but with Chad, things are definitely different.

Playboy rancher Chad Anders saw his dream girl many years ago but has never managed to actually identify her. He thinks it may be one of the twins and certainly doesn’t assume it may be Cynthia but he can’t deny he’s attracted to her and she’s working for him to organise and promote a charity launch that is very dear to his heart.

Will Cynthia find her own Prince Charming and Chad identify his dream girl? This humorous book is a great read that keeps you riveted to find out what happens. The characters are complex and revealed a little at a time, making them more believable. This is a great addition to the whole series and it is lovely to keep reading about some of the characters met in earlier books but it will still work as a stand alone, too. I really appreciate this series which doesn’t need to use any hints of erotica because the stories are so well written the author has no need to lower the tone of her books in that way. I highly recommend this book and the whole series to anyone who enjoys escaping into Montana for a great romantic read with strong characters and great plots.

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my opinion of the book, or the content of my review.

Cute book.

I'm not sure if I was missing something while reading this - I'm not sure if it's a novella for a larger series or something. I feel like a lot of the characters had things that happened in their background there were mostly glossed over and not explained very well and that could be the reason. Or not.

I saw it on NetGalley and wanted to read it because it sounded like a cute Cinderella like romance. It kinda of was - it is about Cynthia and Chad - she is a workaholic event organizer with two shallow step-sisters and he is a rich cowboy who wants to do charity work. She is a shy girl, he is a playboy, the works.

It is mostly about the romance, of course, but it also delves a little bit into Cynthia's characters and her overcoming her insecurities, ending with a nice, albeit cheesy speech.

It wasn't anything amazing - it is a short book so you don't get a lot of development of anything, but it did manage to be sweet and I kind of liked some bits of the romance. There were some bits that I skimmed over, though, because it just didn't grasp my attention very well. The characters just weren't compelling enough.

I would maybe recommend it to someone who really likes this author (I never read anything by her before) and wants a quick romance fix.

While this is book 4 in a series, it can be read as a stand-alone.

Cinderella's Cowboy is by far the least enjoyable book in the series. While I typically do not enjoy novellas, I did enjoy the first three books. Then we got to this one. The attempt to make it a Cinderella-ish retelling made it far too cheesy for my liking. There were also some continuity issues where it was tied to The Cowboy Next Door.

If you're looking for a steamy, well-written romance with interesting characters? This book is NOT worth the read. Extremely disappointed by the lack of a developed storyline and boring romantic leads. There was no chemistry between Cynthia and Chad. At all. I didn't understand their attraction. Also, though it wasn't quite insta-love, the 'romance' moved too quick to be believable. Also, there was no sex. Not even an ounce of steamy foreplay. There were a few kisses, of the vanilla variety. A very short cookie-cutter romance with no special appeal. Pass.

I do like retellings of Cinderella stories. This one was OK, but I want to write about the ending. It was perfect! The hero finds Cinderella's kitten and brings it back to her! Has there ever been a better ending to a romance?

This was a good story. I liked Cynthia and Chad and liked their story overall. This is the first story I've read by this author and I liked it enough that I may try more of her work in the future. This does alright as a standalone...it references some past events/people but most of it is explained well enough that there's little confusion.

Cynthia is the owner and main force behind her Graphic Design/PR/Event planning firm. Cynthia lost her mother at an early age and her father remarried, giving Cynthia a step-mother and 2 step-sisters that are fraternal twins (they're not evil but do tend heavily towards narcissism). Due to the startup capital for her business coming from her step-mother, Cynthia got pushed into taking on her step-sisters as "partners" even though their work ethic is dismal at best.

Chad is the owner of a ranch that he shares with his brother, Eric. Chad and Eric were raised by a single mother and didn't have much growing up. Eric went on to become a rodeo star and Chad has always felt a bit in Eric's shadow. Chad is a playboy and horrible flirt when the story begins.

Chad and Eric decide that they want to hold a charity event to raise money for disadvantaged kids. Chad found out about Cynthia's business and goes to see her about setting up the event along with all the trimmings (a website, brochures, etc..). Cynthia has had a crush on Chad for a while so she's very nervous when he hires her but is determined to do a great job. Shockingly enough, Chad seems interested in Cynthia at first and she thinks that her attraction to him may be returned. Unfortunately, there are some impediments to their relationship, first on the list is Chad.

The problem is that Chad is a player and flirts like its the air he breathes. He's attracted to Cynthia but thinks his "mystery girl" might be one of her step-sisters and isn't sure how to proceed. He tends to say the wrong thing and Cynthia tries to keep things professional so they don't sync enough to realize they could be very good together. I actually found it a bit frustrating that Chad kept flirting with other women...thankfully nothing happens with any of them. Cynthia and Chad are able to get on the same page but it does seem to go from confusion to couplehood and confessions of love very quickly. In the end with Chad and Cynthia doing well and heading towards a HEA together.

This was a good story. I liked Cynthia and thought she was a good heroine, even if she let people push her around at times. Chad was alright...his flirting was annoying but other than that, he was fine. The story was enjoyable overall. :)

Cynthia has a stepmother and two beautiful twin stepsisters, plus her family often calls her Cinderella – but that’s where the fairy tale and real life part ways. In reality her stepmom Joanie was a wonderful woman and Maddie and DeeDee were in no way evil stepsisters – beautiful, spoiled and careless yes, but then when you looked like they did it’s almost expected. During high school, the twins has sparked many a teenage boy’s fantasies. Cynthia was an average girl, in her opinion, with a stutter that showed up at the worst moments of her life. When she was nervous, like when delivering a speech that was caught on video and uploaded to Youtube, her stuttering often had disastrous results for her. So, no – even though Cyn was a beautiful woman by any man’s definition, she saw herself more like Cinderella than she might admit to her family.

As a teenager, Cynthia had had a hero-worship crush on rodeo star Eric Anders. The one time she stepped outside of her quiet, always the good girl image was at a pool party he attended. There were rumors for years after of skinny dipping by the twins at that party, but only one man had gotten a look at the naked girl with a towel over her head, darting around the corner of the building. A memory that would stay with him for years. Now, Cynthia cringed whenever she remembered that night, and a drunken dare and thanked her lucky stars that no one had seen her disgrace. Or so she believed.

Fast forward to the present day. Eric Anders is a happily married man now. Cynthia has her own business, along with the twins, although let’s just say that Cynthia ran her own business in spite of the twins. Her company specialized in event promotions, and with a few more good jobs she could finally pay off the loan her stepmother had given her and really make the business completely her own.

That possibility was standing in her office doorway. Handsome cowboy Chad Anders. Rancher, playboy and brother to ex-rodeo star Eric. He was looking to put on a pretty big event, the kick off of an organization that would put at risk kids to work refurbishing older homes, giving them job skills and a chance at success they might not otherwise have. He wanted everything her company had to offer in making this event a whopping success and had the money to spend on it. And he insisted on working very closely with Cynthia.

What a fun, enjoyable and laugh along with story this was. I adored Cynthia, and Chad’s reaction to the twins was so often priceless. It was easy to see the sparks between Chad and Cyn early on. Watching their love story unfold was such fun. I certainly could feel for Cynthia as she battled years of standing in the twin’s shadow – but Chad was determined to make her shine, and for that I loved that cowboy even more. And Frohike just stole my heart… don’t recognize that name? Read the novel, he plays a large, if underplayed part in this romance. I really loved the epilogue on this story, it truly put the cap on the whole story for me.

Looking for a feel good, charming fairy tale of a story to sink into? Then Cinderella’s Cowboy is exactly what you need. I’d highly recommend this one for anyone who simply enjoys a good, clean, love story. And who doesn’t love that, really? Pick this one up and read a modern day Cinderella tale, Prince and all.

Cinderella’s Cowboy by Roxanne Snopek hooked me from the very beginning and didn’t let up for three hours (that’s approximately how long it took me to finish this book from cover to cover in one sitting). Right away Cynthia’s humor and self-deprecating snark drew me in. I was barely off the first page before I was grinning—it was a great start to a fantastic book.

Technically speaking, like all of Ms. Snopek’s books, the writing was impeccable. I read an ARC obtained through NetGalley, so there were a few bumps and bruises at the beginning—mostly dealing with curiously absent hyphens mid-strungtogether-phrases (see what I did there?) and one or two fragment sentences, but nothing so big as to pull me out of the story. The narrative moved along at a quick pace and flowed seamlessly from the first word to the last.

I adored the characters especially. Cynthia was a no-nonsense sort of woman with a snarky sense of humor and just enough anxiety to make her downright adorable. In contrast, Chad was an all-too-sure-of-himself cowboy with a sexy swagger and charm dripping from his pecs. The two really couldn’t have been any more different, and yet, they worked. Cynthia threw Chad off balance in a way that brought him back down to earth. They were good for each other, and I loved the understated chemistry between the couple.

There were definitely some undertones of the original Cinderella story running through the book, but it wasn’t so blatant to call this an alternate version of the fairytale… more like a tip of the hat in that direction. It was fun to see the similarities between the two stories, but also the contrasts. Though let me tell you… the stepsisters were by far not my favorite people… maybe it’s because I have a little Cynthia in me, but I loathe people who are shallow and irresponsible—and boy those girls got under my skin!

Overall, I really enjoyed the story. My only wish is that the story had been a little longer. I sped through Cinderella’s Cowboy like it was an 8-second bull ride, and when it was over I desperately wanted more. I hesitate to say that I’d probably have loved the story more had the romance between Cynthia and Chad dragged on a little longer and been a little more steamy—but that’s mostly a personal preference.

If you’re looking into getting this book be aware that it can stand alone, but it’s better if you read it along with the series. There are numerous mentions of characters from previous books, and if you haven’t read them, these characters may come off rather 1-dimensional. Their stories weren’t necessarily delved into in this book, and they really weren’t meant to be (because they do have their own stories). If you read this book having missed the previous stories, you’ll probably still enjoy it, but maybe not to the degree that you could.

I urge you to pick up this book if you like contemporary romances filled with humor, clean romance, and sexy cowboys—you’re going to like this. It’s a quick read, and perfect to enjoy over a rainy weekend.

Let’s face it, some people are blessed with awesome, supportive siblings and some people just aren’t. While there’s nothing overtly wicked about Cynthia’s twin step-sisters, Maddie and DeeDee, there’s nothing particularly supportive about them either. And it’s not because they’re beautiful and vivacious and attention-seeking, because Cynthia doesn’t always mind hiding behind the glare of their glamour, but as two spoilt young women who have always been given everything they want, they make for terrible business partners. Her sisters might call her Cinderella as an occasional joke, but there’s no denying she does the bulk of the work at all times.

Which is fine, because if it had been up to Cynthia the business would have been hers alone, but her stepmother provided the loan then added the sibling strings and now Cynthia is stuck. Until she makes enough money to buy herself free. Which is why she can’t turn down the chance to work for Chad Anders, even if he has witnessed two of the most humiliating moments of Cynthia’s life – and knows all about her teenage crush on his older brother, Eric.

Speaking of siblings, I was so massively disappointed in Eric in this book. True, I had my doubts about him in the previous book of this series, but both he and Leda are awful here. He constantly lets poor Chad down, while Leda is just mean and very prickly. I really didn’t like either of them, but it hardly matters because their moments are minor and I really liked Cynthia and Chad.

Not only is Cynthia hard working and really good at what she does, she’s sweet too. The way she tries to tame the kitten is adorable, and I loved that although she has a stammer she never lets it hold her back. In fact it’s not really an issue at all, despite her frequent attacks of nerves. Things between her and Chad bounce between flirty fun and awkwardness, with a hint of sweetness throughout, despite the many and various interruptions from certain loved ones. The way their relationship lurches from friends to maybe more, to not even that, to somewhere in between certainly kept things interesting.

True, Chad doesn’t always treat (or rather think of) Cynthia the way he should – and wow, is his attempted declaration one of the most badly phrased I’ve ever read (Mr Darcy’s first proposal aside) – but I still liked him. He’s trying to do a good thing, despite zero help from his supposedly wonderful brother, and he’s also trying to track down his dream girl, even if he does it in a foolish way. Yet his humility, his fun and flirtatious ways and the way he looks after Cynthia are just lovely, and his second try was so much better than the first.

In all this is a lovely, quick read with an adorable romance and two great central characters. That epilogue certainly left me curious, though, and I’d love to read more about Maddie some time.

Cinderella’s Cowboy by Roxanne Snopek

Chad Anders doesn’t know why mousy Cynthia Henley trips all over her tongue with him. Nor does he understand his undeniable attraction to this good girl. Wild and sexy is his type, like the unforgettable dream-girl he caught a glimpse of years earlier.

Cynthia’s superpower is invisibility, especially with men. It’s better for everyone that way. Besides, she’s got a cat. She’s okay. But when playboy-rancher Chad Anders hires her, she’s got a chance to shine, professionally, at least. Until she learns of his fascination with a mysterious dream-girl, who’s nothing more than a shy, drunk teenager on an ill-advised dare. She’s no man’s dream-girl and never will be.

But there’s magic at the ball. Princesses glow in the starlight and princes appear out of nowhere. Sometimes, they look a lot like cowboys.

The final book in the series was truly full of lessons, love, banter, and fixing stereotypes. Cynthia is a hard working woman that tries to do the right thing. She has started a new company that is her passion. Unfortunately, her stepsisters have come along for the ride. She loved them and they loved her, they got along for the most part. They did call her Cinderella but that was because she worked all the time and they played. As a teenager, she had a crush on Eric Anders, big time rodeo champion until he got hurt and had to quit. There was also an event she wished she could forget the cured her of her teenage crush. Now his brother, playboy cowboy was asking for her help.
Chad Anders liked being footloose and fancy free when it came to women and they all knew it. He didn’t want to make the mistakes he saw growing up, people falling in love then being left behind. He wanted things easy and to live his live on his terms. Nothing and no one had ever made him doubt this until he meat Cynthia. She was intriguing to him, she didn’t faun all over him or seem the least bit interested. To her he was ‘Eric Anders brother’. After only a few moments with her he decides to change her mind. Then there were her stepsisters, Chad had been dreaming of them since high school. Who didn’t though, twin bombshells with reputations for liking to have fun. He figured he was due some and he could get some of his curiosity fed as well. Everything he is normally attracted to in a women is at his fingertips, but he can’t stop thinking about Cynthia. He wants to be with her, be near her, and talk only to her. He even wished the sisters would go away so he wouldn’t have to be pawed at by then, what is up with that? Cynthia turns his life upside down and she really has no clue she is doing anything.
The two opposites are drawn together against their protests and neither want to admit they want each other. I like books like this because the banter between the two is perfectly matched. They fight, argue, and under it all they find love. Defiantly read all four of these books because they are fantastic. **This can be read as a standalone though**

Roxanne Snopek has saved the best for last. Cinderella’s Cowboy, the fourth and final book in her This Old House Series is simply wonderful. Best part, it can be read as a standalone. This is the classic Cinderella fairy tale with a little twist.

Cynthia Henley isn’t your typical romance heroine, and I think that’s what makes this story that much more special. Cynthia is strong, independent and all about family.

Chad Anders is your typical cowboy hero. He’s known for one-night stands and just simply being a playboy. But there’s more to Chad than what people see. Chad was first introduced to readers in A Sweet Montana Christmas. I knew then I was going to fall for this cowboy. It’s true, Chad is charming and loves to flirt, but he’s also caring and has a softer side. Cynthia is definitely not the type of woman he usually goes for, but for some reason, he can’t get her out of his mind.

Chad hires Cynthia and her partners to create a brand for a charitable foundation established by his brother and himself. He also wants them to put together a fundraising event to raise money for a local organization. Due to the neglectful nature of her partners, who happen to be her self-absorbed, wealthy step-sisters, Chad and Cynthia end up working together very closely. Much to the dislike of Cynthia, who gets a bad case of stuttering when Chad makes her nervous, which he does quite often.

Cinderella’s Cowboy was a refreshing, totally sweet romance with wonderful characters. Roxanne has definitely saved the best book for last. In typical Roxanne Snopek fashion, she has once again brought tears to my eyes, with the wonderful strength and courage of Cynthia.

Let me start with the fact that I haven’t read the rest of this series (surprise, surprise) and I think that it somewhat impacted how much I understood about what was going on. There were some definite undertones in the relationships as well as some incidents from the previous books that come into play.

Now, having said that, I have to admit that I REALLY liked this story. Cynthia and Chad are fantastic. She’s got that right amount of grit and snark to keep me coming back. She’s been in the shadow of her step sisters for a long time – long enough that she’s forgotten what it might be like to shine. Having the attention of a sexy cowboy may just be what she needs …

And she helps bring the real Chad out. He’s at a point where he is starting to evaluate his life choices when Cynthia falls into his lap. She’s the perfect foil to what he’s used to – caring, hardworking, smart, and sexy but a little unsure of herself. She intrigues him, capturing his attention at a time when he needs something real in his romantic life.

Cinderella’s Cowboy is a short read, but very satisfying, with plenty of humor and snark, heat and sparks, and small town heart. If you’ve read the rest of the This Old House series I’m sure you are going to be a happy camper. If you haven’t, you can start here but since I know what fantastic books Ms. Snopek writes I recommend starting at the beginning – you won’t regret it and I think that you’ll enjoy this one all the more.

Cinderella's Cowboy has much to like. First is that it is Marietta’s modern version of this fairytale. I love visiting this Montana town and catching up with its residents. Then the different take on the family and Prince Charming is refreshing and original. I am glad that her Dad, though rather silent in the tale, is alive and well in this version. I also liked that he made a wonderful choice in his second wife. I have always wondered how Cinderella’s father could have been so dumb in choosing a horrible stepmother. Roxanne Snopek corrected that in this more acceptable version for me. I like the well-meaning but self-centered stepsisters too. Hoping now that Maddie has had an epiphany of sorts, she will receive her own story.

Even though it is a novella, I totally connected to Cynthia, her insecurities and her commitment to her business. I probably saw more symbolism in the small cat than I should have. Both Cynthia and the kitten were feeling invisible, unnecessary and unwanted by those around them. I shed a few tears over them and could not help but continue reading to see if they received the much needed happily ever after.

As for Chad, yeah I get that he felt that he was always in Eric’s shadow, but he is far from perfect. I think deep down I always felt that Prince Charming was a player. Ms. Snopek and I agree on that. Do I feel that this leopard changed his spots? Well, I guess I need to see what is up with Cynthia and Chad in maybe five years or so to believe it.

I received this book as an e-ARC free from Netgalley. Below is my review.

This is a solid 3 star book. I liked Chad, and had liked him since his brother Eric's book. There was something... wistful... about Chad then and that really comes out in this book a lot. Chad has lived all his life in his brother's shadow and yet Chad is very seriously not his brother. He is steadfast, tender, determined, sweet, and a bit angsty.

Cynthia is well... Cinderella. And here's where the book lost me. The benign neglect of her father coupled with the over-the-top aspects of her stepsisters and her stepmother's disinterest and eager grasping on her daughters' behalf just are so cliched. Cynthia's a drudge; she does all the work. You never even see her father work but he clearly runs a ranch. There was no sense of reality. It was like stepping into the fairy tale but instead of the handsome prince you get the also-ran guy.

If it weren't for Chad's sterling qualities, this book would have run completely off the rails. I'm glad this book had so much of Chad's thoughts and feelings in it or it would have become horridly maudlin.

As it is, our resident Cinderella has her wishes come true in the end and it's Leda (Eric's wife) who really makes it happen like some modern, straight-talking fairy godmother.
