Never thought this story would be so dark

The Grimms truly lived up to their name, eh? The beginning of this tale is as grim and dark as it gets. But I realize that the reason why this is a timeless tale is that first, it tells us that the presence of mind can truly take you to places, and second, good people always get the HEA.

I won't consider reading this to my younger niblings. Maybe when they get a bit older and understand the themes of the story, I might consider.

The story Hansel and Gretel is about a brother and sister who live with their father and cruel stepmother. Their cruel stepmother sends them into the woods to try to get rid of them, but they find their way home. Their father sends their cruel stepmother away forever.

The copy of this book is old; it was my mother’s when she was a little girl. The pages in the book have turned yellow. Each page of the story has the same layout. The pictures are on the top with the reading on the bottom of the page. The text is big and bold. The pictures are bold and detailed. This would be a good story to read to children to show them there may be hard times in life but everything will work on in the long run. You could talk to the student about how the children from the made it in the forests by helping each other.
