Biography

MATT SHAW was born, quite by accident (his mother tripped, he shot out) September 30th 1980 in Winchester hospital where he was immediately placed on the baby ward and EBay. Some twelve years later (wandering the corridors of the hospital and playing with road kill when he was on day release), the listing closed and he remained unsold, he was booted out of the hospital to start his life as a writer and hobbit – beginning with writing screenplays and short stories for his own amusement before finally getting published when he was twenty-seven years and forty-five seconds old.

Once Published weekly in a lad's magazine with his photography work, Matt Shaw is also a published author and cartoonist. Has to be said, can be a bit of a flirt and definitely, without a shadow of a doubt, somewhat of a klutz.

Favourite books
"Roald Dahl's Collection of Short Stories"
Tim Burton's Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy
Anything, really, written by himself. Because he is that good.

V means 5. Very fitting ~ this deserves 5 stars!
I'm not sure if they would technically be short stories or novellas but at 438 pages each writer gets a nice chunk of pages to wag their tale and then dismember it . Each one was riveting and unique and highly recommendable!

The 8th ~ This one was probably my favorite from Matt Shaw. There is just something about a well told bully story. When done right (and this one was!!) they really pack a raw emotional punch. It's the reality of it all I think, that this kind of stuff does happen more than you think. It's a cautionary tale really, about cause and effect and retribution told Matt Shaw style so you know you're strapped in for one hell of a relentless ride.
Too bad bully's don't read...
I am trying to psych myself up to read one of his solo black cover books but I have to admit..I am a little skerred. I've heard things and I do think he might be a little insane. hahaha

Something in the Dark ~ This story was so thrilling and creepy! A real edge of your seat experience or in my case, foot of the bed. From the sometimes naked repair man to the made up words that almost sounded toddler cute. You really didn't know what the hell was going on till the end and HOLY SHIT that ending...
Michael Bray is quickly becoming one my of favorite new authors, his writing flows so well and he effortlessly creates that tension. I fancy him a King, it's not a faux pas to call a British person a King is it?? Do they even have a King over there...I don't even know, it would seem the Queen sports the pants though. Lol

Road to Darkness ~ This was my first taste of Tim Miller and I really enjoyed it. It was an action thriller. I really felt for the main character Tony, emasculated at home and at work, losing the struggle to make ends meet. Gets offered BIG EASY money, a job too good to be true he thinks. Yea, cause it is. I will definitely be seeking out more of Millers work and lucky for me I won't have to look too hard, there is a bunch of it!

The Customer is Always... ~ A 9 to 5 desk jockey who works in a cubicle already sounds pretty horrific enough, but when the main character nice guy Vincent receives a phone call from a disturbed and tortured man demanding his prematurely cancelled insurance policy be reinstated...it gets fugly and poor Vincent gets stuck in the middle. Damn corporate bastards.
Stuart Keane is also a King (there can be 2 Kings!!), and quickly becoming a new favorite as well.

Special Delivery ~ Another first for me is Kyle M. Scott and I have it on good ~ and insistent ~ authority that I NEED to delve deeper into this particular warped mind and I must concur! This was an amazing story. Poor pizza boy Jack, he would have been willing to do "almost" anything for his little lady love. What was great about this was the anticipation factor, Kyle built it up so methodically and just made the character so damn likable...you almost didn't want it to end because you knew it wasn't gonna be all kittens and butterflies.
Also it meant the end of this book....

Ya know, I am convinced now more than ever that books are far superior to movies. There are no low budgets, lousy actors, or cheesy effects in my minds eye. Pair me with a great story by a great writer and we can make sweet sweet cerebral cinema together that blows most blockbusters out of the water!
The ONLY issue I have is 'where do I go from here'??? The possibilities are overwhelming...
Remember that scene from My Stepmother is an Alien when Kim Basinger's character sticks her forearm in the middle of a book...she laughs, she cries, gets a jump scare, and within mere seconds she's finished the whole book! I wish I could do that, it would really free up some stressful decision making...but alas, I tried. It doesn't work.

Bring on VI only make it X instead!!

Next comes nightmares...

This book contained the work and warped minds of five different authors. Each short story stood out own it's own. Each one was completely different from the other and all just as terrifying and creepy.
This book offers a great opportunity to read the works of five authors in one cover.
A must-read for any horror enthusiast!

Great

What can u say about this book. You read one story and think the next can't be as good as this one. Then you read the next and boom it's better. Great collaboration of authors and a great read

Terrifying but brilliant

Here are five of the darkest stories you will ever read. Violent gory and shocking but every author manages to terrify you in a different setting and story. Not for this easily offended or the squeamish.

Ehh

This was just ok... I liked some didn't like others.
I skipped a lot of the ones that just didn't grasp my attention.
