Really invested in this one from start to finish. Liked the intermittent police interviews flashing us forward to keep you on your toes and found the inner workings of both of their minds interesting - had me guessing at what the truth was for a minute there. End message was poignant. Would recommend as a good free listen on audible.

This one popped up in my Audible recommendations, and the premise sounded right up my street, so I thought I’d give it a go.
I really liked the idea behind the story, and there were definitely moments that had me completely hooked. That said, there were also sections that dragged a little for me, which made the pacing feel a bit uneven at times.
The ending is where I felt it lost me slightly. It wrapped everything up quite quickly, and I think it would have benefited from spending a bit more time tying everything together. Even so, I enjoyed the concept and I’m glad I gave it a listen.

A little formulaic, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If you like revenge thrillers then this is a must if you already have Audible, since it is free at the time of writing this. The story is decent, but the performance is outstanding! I probably wouldn't pay for it. That's just me though.

I was intrigued by the storyline of The Tutor and really liked that I couldn’t quite decide who I was siding with throughout the book—Jack or Eloise. It definitely kept me questioning both characters and their version of events.

The writing is very detailed and almost poetic at times. While I can appreciate that style, I found the story a little slower paced than I was hoping for. I think that’s mostly personal preference, as I’m used to authors and thrillers that move along a bit faster.

Overall, I did enjoy the book and I’m glad I listened to it. I would recommend it to others, particularly if you enjoy slower-paced psychological stories with morally complicated characters, but it wasn’t one of my favourites. I’m glad it was included with my Audible membership.

A solid 3 stars for me.

2.5⭐️ I listened to this audiobook, and thought it was interesting how it had different effects that most audiobooks don’t have. However struggled with the music in the background toward the end of the chapters and the echoey effect during the police interviews.

“They tell you as if you needed telling, that the world is kinder to men with tidy reputations. They tell you as if you didn’t know, that naming a monster is not the same as unmaking him.”

Overall I thought this book had a lot of promise, and explored some really important aspects around abuse of power. But i didn’t get the thriller/suspense aspect. I also found myself confused at what was happening/having a hard time understanding how some of the “twists” came to be.

My three stars is the average of five which I would have awarded until the last few chapters, when it plummeted to one star. I was very impressed with the way the story unfolded: plausible characters, ambiguity about who was telling the truth, excellent dialogue, school music lessons and gifted students the perfect setting. Obviously I can't give away the denouement but, for me, it falls apart on so many levels I wonder what Ms Day was thinking - rush to deadline so wrap it up quickly? Sick of the hard work and can't be bothered any more? What a shame, it had me hooked and listening at every opportunity eager to find out what was really going on. Then the crash. Oh well. The narrators were excellent, acted their parts perfectly - very impressive.

"The Tutor" by Rosie Day was an entertaining listen with plenty of tension and an intriguing premise. I enjoyed the darker, unsettling atmosphere and the way the story slowly reveals more about the characters and their relationships. There were definitely moments that had me wondering where everything was headed.

I listened to this Audible original book as it was free and I had no credits left.

I really enjoyed this! The narrators were really good. I’ve seen some reviews mentioning that they didn’t think the narrators did a good job, but I wholeheartedly disagree.

The story was gripping and intriguing in a whodunnit kind of way. A few red herrings thrown in for good measure, and I really had myself questioning whose version of the truth was the real truth.

A lovely twist at the end, and I’d had a proper good time!

There's a few twists and turns and the prose is wonderful, great descriptions and the narration was fab too. There's not a lot of action really so it's more of a tense drama than a thriller but a good listen none the less.

This was a good, chill psychological thriller! I did NOT see that ending coming. A bit long in the middle but it does all tie in nicely at the end!
