What do you think?

Reverence
Devin
I was a prick, but I never hurt anyone that didn’t deserve it.
Well … until Nina.
I was a very smart man who made a very bad decision, but the mistakes I was paying for were not just my own.
My behavior toward her, no matter how unforgivable, had always been about protecting her—from me, from my wife, and from the long line of mistakes I would never be able to rectify.
Nina was finally done with me, and I knew it was for the best. I could finally keep her safe from depraved people like me. I needed her as far removed from the situation as possible. I tried to force myself to be content with her decision to move on … until I found out whom she was moving on with.
Nina
My unyielding love for a corrupt man might have cost me the affection of someone worthy.
With Aiden, I had finally discovered a version of myself I could tolerate; then he dropped a one word bomb that ruined my new sense of self. Instead of listening to my voice of reason, I blocked it out, until it became a scream that refused to be ignored.
Now, I would give anything to quiet that voice.
If you are not a fan of cursing, erotic and extremely explicit sex, cheating, immoral behavior, dysfunction or sexual scenarios that may make you feel uncomfortable this is not the series for you. FILTHY EROTIC ROMANCE
Book 2 of 3. (less)

★★★★★! Reverence, part 2 of 3! One woman caught between the man of her past & man in her present! But who the better suitor?
“If this man was my knight, I had no doubt he was hiding the dark horse he rode in on.”
Novellas in The Excess series should be read in order:
Part 1: Opulence
Part 2: Reverence
Part 3: Hindrance
In Opulence (part 1) divorce’ and entrepreneur Nina Scott broke up her a-hole fuck-buddy, investment banker Devin McIntyre. Her path soon crossed with bar owner Aiden, and they began dating. Story followed Nina and Aiden while she worked on severing all business and personal ties with Devin.
Reverence (part 2) opens up to part 1’s shocking ending. Told mostly from Devin’s POV it provides a rare glimpse into the enigma that is Devin and only serves to make me pine for him more. Meanwhile Nina is getting to know Aiden and his kinky side as well as some secrets which only conflicts me further as both Devin and Aiden are compelling, intriguing and worthy contenders…. But I still have my favorite…
Nine words to describe Nina Scott: Reflective, evasive, blunt, smart, successful, despondent, confused, romantic and blasé.
Nine words to describe Devin McIntyre: Enigmatic, elusive, kinky, cocky, jaded, non-committal, secretive, closed off and selfish.
“Devin was magnetic, raw, hungry, beautiful and ambitious. Power emulated from his intense deep blue gaze to his fingertips.”
Eight words to describe Aiden: Charming, engaging, complex, focused, uncompromising, kinky, possessive and observant.
“The man was brilliant, beautiful, talented beyond words, and had a cock that could silence a porn star.”
Reverence (part 2) is an eye-opener, but as one question is answered a new one arises. Story is an addictive page-turner and I loved every moment of it! It ends with a shocking yet welcome cliffy that only underscores how much I enjoy this series and don’t want it to end. Still looking forward to part 3, Hindrance for the conclusion of the story.
Brilliant plot! Excellent story-telling! Two to-die-for kinky heroes! Compelling heroine! Off-the-charts sex!

The whore in me celebrated my luck in finding two men capable of sating my appetite.
Well book two packed a punch in the STEAM department!! This was Erotica at its BEST!!!! I was 100% TEAM AIDEN in book one, but now after having read this, I'm seeing Devin in a different light. I honestly can't decide between them, and neither can Nina it seems.
In "Opulence" we were only given little bits of Devin through Nina's POV and we were missing quite a bit of information on him. In "Reverence", we get alternating chapters in Devin's POV, and so we see what was really going on in his mind during the beginning of their relationship and where his heart has always been since the very first day he met Nina. I see Devin as a potential threat to Nina's new relationship with sexy Aiden!!
The sex in this one goes beyond panty melting HOT!! Honestly I'm thinking Nina's vagina should be out of commission for at least a month after the insanely wild and rough sex she was having with Aiden. I loved getting to see the DOMINANT side of Aiden and Nina was enjoying every dirty thing he was doing to her body. At one point there is even a bit of breath play and I think Nina is just a bit fucked up to be enjoying something like that being that she had never done it before and also since she hardly knows Aiden. That's a huge amount of trust to place on someone you just met!!!
It appears Nina is a nympho because she seems to be horny 24/7, and she's not looking for true love at the moment. Aiden confesses he definitely doesn't want to have a serious relationship. He's in this thing with Nina while they're still having fun, however long that may be. That kind of put a little damper on my feelings for him. I am hoping it's all an act on his part to protect his heart from being broken.
At the end of book one, Nina got some shocking news when she learned what Aiden's last name was. In this one she's trying to dig into his past and we learn some interesting things. There's a big confrontation towards the end of the book and let's just say I was shocked during the last scene!!
I love both of these men and I honestly can't decide which team to stay on, so for now, I think I'll just be on both teams. I can't wait to see which man Nina ends up with in the final book. I'd love it if somehow she could have them both.
Here's to hoping book three will provide us with Aiden's POV!! Maybe it will help me to choose between these two delicious men!!

Reverence is the second installment in Angelica Chase’s The Excess novella series. For me, it was even better than the first. I felt like I connected more with the characters- one specifically, and that ending. It was perfect and has me dying for the final installment. I need to know where this story is going!
What a treat it was to get Devin’s POV throughout this novella. When reading Opulence, I wasn’t sure if I was the biggest Devin fan. There was something about him I liked, but he also rubbed me the wrong way. I think most readers will have a hard time choosing between Devin and Aiden after reading this. Aiden is a likable guy, but this girl is 100% Team Devin. Getting his perspective was exactly what I needed.
What I will say about Aiden is the sexiness/steaminess with this man is off the charts hot. He is the less complicated of the two. He’s the safer choice and probably the better choice for Nina in a lot of ways.
Nina is a character who wasn’t easy for me to connect to in the first novella. In this story she seemed much more relatable and likable to me. It made all the difference. I can’t wait to see what decisions she makes and how things will turn out for her.
These novellas aren’t only steamy and sexy, they’re also very well written and there is something going on that is leaving you guessing and wanting more. There is a bit of mystery, some secrets you know are being kept. I’m looking forward to the next one so I can see how all this pans out!!!

Hot, Hot, Hot!
This story just keeps getting better! This second installment in 'The Excess' series is told in dual POV, alternating between Nina and Devin. In just over a hundred pages, Ms. Chase takes this story and turns it upside down. I had to completely reevaluate how I felt about everything taking place.
I thought Devin was an uncaring jerk that shamelessly used Nina without truly feeling for her. I was wrong. Hearing his side of the story forced me to see him in a more human light. Yes, he screwed up in a big way, but he really did love her.
I usually hate it when people try to blame the wife for the husband's infidelity. However, in this case, I'm tempted to do exactly that. What a wretched bitch his wife was! After meeting her, I felt bad for the poor guy. Putting Nina in her crosshairs was probably the cruelest thing Devin did. I guess misery loves company!
As Nina suspected, there was more to Aiden and Devin's connection than a shared last name. I suspect there is still more to come, but the mystery is beginning to unravel. There is no love lost between these two.
This time around, it was Aiden that disappointed me. Just as Nina and him are growing increasingly intimate, he goes and flakes out on her. I know he was shocked to find out that Devin was the ex that had crushed her, but can you say "overreaction". I was a little put off by his drama queen antics.
Right now, I am torn between these two sexy men. At the end of book 1, I never would've thought that Devin would be a contender in my mind, but he is. I could not put this book down. And that ending...Holy hell! I'm diving into the third book immediately.

Oh Snap, shit just got real ... Reverence is told from the POV of Nina and Devin, while Nina is trying to live into now with Aiden. He manages to give her everything she needs, exactly when she needs him too... but he still remains a big mystery and while her heart is still reeling with the effects of Devin she can't help but get sucked into all that is Aiden.

Devin can't help but relive the past, wondering the what ifs, it's a dangerous game, but when he lost Nina all that was once important to him paled in comparison.

Her new agenda. Do better, be better, and make better choices. But a new agenda comes with coming to terms with reality, the good and the bad and the heartbreaker ...

Reverence is the second book in the Excess series, continuing the tale of Nina and her attempts of taking control over her life. And while she has been fortunate to find two men at two different points in their her life able to sate the fire that burns in her, it causes lingering feelings even if it makes her a fool. When confronted and challenged she throws down just as hard, but in the end it may cost her everything. This was a very interesting addition, we got to get Devin and Nina's past mess and get to see each man in a different light. As a reader I too am torn, the team I joined in the beginning is no longer the team I am on now, caught in-between, both wanting and waiting, wondering where it will all go from here. The stories have been consistent in giving us that false sense of security up to the very end, then out of no where the rug is pulled right from under us wondering what next. A delicious enticing addition indeed!

"Reverence" is the second installment in “The Excess” series by Angelica Chase and picks up right where the first installment "Opulence" ends. While book1 is told only in Nina’s POV, this one is told in dual POV – Nina and Devin’s and I have to say I loved being in Devin’s head. Reading this installment your opinion about him will definitely change.
Through his eyes we get to know a sweet Nina, when they first met. A naïve woman in some way who just wanted to be accepted. We also get to find out more about Devin, his relationship with his wife and how he truly feels for Nina.
“I had a new agenda: Get my life back, and if the gods saw fit, get Nina back as well.”
After the shocking revelation from the first installment, Nina wants to find out the truth about Devin and Aiden, if they are related or not. Her gut is telling they are so she hires someone to look into it. In the meantime all she wants is to forget about Devin and her old life, to move on and spend more time with the man who managed to intrigue her as much as Devin, Aiden.
Aiden is a sweet guy, but he can be sexy and dominant as well. And let me tell you, he was sexy as fuck in this installment. He’s a man who knows what he wants and he is ready to do anything to have Nina in his life.
“I’m not worried about who’s had you or who you’ve had. What matters now is I want you. I want you and I want to give you what you need. Fuck the rest of it. It will all fall into place the way it’s supposed to.”
But more than that he’s good for Nina, he’s the safe choice for her. And she knows it. With him she can be anyone she wants, she can be real.
“I wanted you from the minute I saw you, Aiden.(…) When I’m with you, I feel more like me.”
This installment was better than the first IMO. More captivating, steamier and more addictive. Like I mentioned before, you will see Devin in a different light. I liked how he's portrayed in this installment and I really felt for him. Nina was more likeable and relatable in this installment as well. She’s not perfect. Not at all! She was flaws and even insecurities. I liked her personality very much. She’s a strong, powerful woman, but at times she felt a little confused. Frankly I don’t know if she knows what she really wants. (or more exactly who she wants)
The sex scenes in this installment are off the charts hot. This author knows really well how to write one.
Overall, this was a great, steamy, sexy and captivating installment that left me wanting more expecially after that last scene. Can't wait to read the third and final installment in the series!

Genre: Erotic Romance
Type: Book 2 of 3 from The Excess series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

After being dismissed by Nina Scott, Devin McIntyre started to reevaluate his relationships and life. Nina on the other hand, was happy with the prospect of a relationship with Aiden, even though some questions were not fully answered.
After the ending of Opulence, I was anxious to start this book and I’m glad it didn’t disappoint.
I was on the fence with Nina in previous book. I do like her now that I got to see more of her vulnerabilities. I have to say I envy her, not only for her wealth but most importantly the men in her life. Damn… lol!
I also like Devin a lot more in this book. I love that we got his POV and learned more about his background and history with Nina. I love that we learned of his true feelings of things that’s happening around him.

I absolutely love Aiden. I thought I won’t get much of him in this book, but I’m so glad I was wrong. He showed a different side of him and he was not who he portrayed himself to be.
I was quite worried in the first 50% of the book because I felt it was slower than what I like. But damn did it picked up after that! The sex scenes were intense and left me all needy hahah!
The ending was highly intriguing, making me speculate what it might be all about. I’m looking forward to the conclusion of the series in Hindrance

4.5 "Possess me" STARS
"Some things are to be lived in the moment only, they can't be captured."
Well, I must say, Ms. Chase is fast becoming one of my fave authors! There are so many serials out there today, but the best ones are the ones where the author can keep the momentum of the story, the development of the characters and not only sustain the feels of the story but kick it up a notch.
Angelica does this effortlessly as shown by her Awakening Series and now with the Excess Series. This is just as captivating and tantalizing as the first!
This second installment picks up where the first left off but with a twist, it’s now in Nina and Devin’s POV. With this we get more insight into what drives Devin and how he feels about Nina...

and how he feels about his wife.
Through his eyes, he takes us down memory lane with glimpses into his relationship with Nina and how it came to be the way it is now. Of course, among these are some sexy, deviant and demanding moments…
It's apparent that Devin's in a predicament and he's looking for a way out.
Like Devin, Nina is stuck too. She's paralyzed between two men - Aiden and Devin –
…much like most readers might be. Seriously, how could we not vacillate between two sexy, demanding and commanding men?
“The man (Aiden) was brilliant, beautiful, talented beyond words, and had a cock that could silence a porn star.”

“Devin was magnetic, raw, hungry, beautiful and ambitious.”
We learn more about Devin and Aiden although many pieces of the puzzle are still missing so that we can’t get a clear picture. And there are still unanswered questions about other things including what Taylor is up to. Ms. Chase, might we get a series on Taylor? Please?
Sorry, got sidetracked because there are so many interesting things going on! Also, Aiden makes an observation that sets Nina on alert and explains a lot about her for me.
There is no cliffhanger in this one, per se, but there is a climatic ending….
Whether your Team Aiden or Team Devin, it will rock your world! In fact, this book might have some of you switching sides or like me, it only served to solidify my preference. I don't know all there is to know and don't care, all I know is anything Aiden has me hot and bothered...
If you’ve not read Opulence yet and you love great writing and filthy erotica, you should read it now and then jump right into this one! I’m really eager to see how this ends.

4.5 Erotic All-consuming Stars!
Gah! This book was everything book one, Opulence, WASN'T for me! I freaking loved it! I was one of the few readers that just didn't connect much with the short first installment. But, that's quickly amended here. *** If you've not yet read Opulence, stop now as this review will have plot spoilers for that book.
Reverence picks up right on the heels of Opulence. Nina and Aiden are just getting started in their budding romance. Romance? I'm not sure I'd call Aiden a romantic in this book. Holy smokes, was he such a Dominant, rock her world, sex god in book one? Yes? I must've forgotten then! Because he was simply delish here!
The man was brilliant, beautiful, talented beyond words, and had a cock that would silence a porn star.
Nina has zero issue accepting the fact that she loves sex. Hard, balls-to-the-wall fucking. And Aiden appears to be just the man for the job. This ain't no Harlequin romance, boys and girls!
What made me totally fall for this book and not-as-much Opulence was the depth of the story. We finally start to understand who Devin is. We really didn't get much information about him in book one, other than that he's a cheat. Well, beware, friends, you'll probably start to turn #TeamDevin here. This book alternates between Nina's POV and Devin's so we FINALLY get his side of their love story. And a love story it is!

Angelica Chase has built an erotic tale of one lonely rich woman and two insanely sexy Dominant men. One she loves but can't trust. One she's painfully attracted to and can SEE herself falling in love with. Maybe she can finally move forward from Devin and find happiness in Aiden. He seems to know exactly what she needs sexually and their relationship is growing stronger by the day. Can it be in the cards for them? Or will unfinished business with Devin keep creeping in?
Yes, you've probably noticed I didn't mention the cliffy at the end of Opulence. I won't. You'll find out soon enough. Reverence is book two in the serial novella Excess Series. Each book releases a few weeks apart. This book also ends in the MOTHER of a cliffy. Gah. I think this one is killing me more than the first. That last scene?
Cannot wait for the final installment of the Excess Series, Hinderance.

It's official. I'm completely addicted to this series. Who thought I'd ever say that about a love triangle, and yet here I am, absolutely devouring these books and never wanting them to end.
Reverence gives us the one thing I've been craving and that's Devin's POV, and I just knew it was going to pack a punch. If anything is true about these books is that looks are definitely deceiving and nothing is ever as it seems. Devin is the epitome of this, because beneath the cold and ruthless man that he was in book 1, Reverence reveals the wounded heart beneath the cold exterior of the man. Anyone that may have had doubts about him in the first book, I guarantee they will all fade in the blink of an eye in this one.
We already know that Devin's wife is one conniving bitch, and it was strongly reaffirmed here. There's this inevitable sense of doom that keeps circling Devin and Nina's relationship and yet you can't help but still continue to root for them...especially with the turn of events and the revelations that Reverence brought.
Nina is firmly stuck in the middle between two men. One that's toxic for her and everything that she doesn't need but still craves with every fiber of her being, and one that's his polar opposite and everything that she needs. The problem seems to arise in the figuring out of her wants and needs.
Aiden is everything that Nina needs in her life; he's not married, he clearly wants her; and his intensity is more than satisfying in the bedroom.
But there's also a connection between the two men that Nina never saw coming that may be the downfall to them all.
This yet another review that's almost impossible to write without giving anything away and this series is definitely one you want to go into knowing as little as possible. What I can tell you, is each book is better than the last and there was not one dull moment. I tend to struggle with serials/trilogies with the same couples since I usually tend to get bored. This is especially true with the 2nd book in a trilogy. It's always that feeling of the story being stretched out or thinking that it could have easily been accomplished in two books. Shockingly, that was not the case for me here. I never found myself bored or feeling any part of this story is filler. You can truly see why this story needed to be split into the three parts that it was and it's all the better because of it. Yes, those cliffhangers are painful but with every book in the series already being released, that's not a problem at all. I loved it. And even though my poor cold and black heart still isn't sure how it will handle this love triangle business, I'm eagerly anticipating the conclusion to this erotically charged trilogy.

The whore in me celebrated my luck in finding two men capable of sating my appetite.

It's official. I'm completely addicted to this series. Who thought I'd ever say that about a love triangle, and yet here I am, absolutely devouring these books and never wanting them to end.
Kissing her was my undoing. Just a kiss in the middle of the harbor had ruined me. Her pussy would cripple me.

I am loving this little series! In this second instalment I was shocked to find that I am falling for Devin! I hated him in Opulence and never in a million years did I think I would have a difficult decision to make as to which man to root for.
Aiden turned it up a notch in the bedroom, he seems to know what Nina needs and is able to read her like a book. Nina however is still confused as to the shocking discovery she made at the end of book 1, so is determined to learn a little bit more about her new man.
Lots of intrigue going on here, lots of steam and a few twists. Unlike part one where we have Nina and Aidens POV, this is more focused on Devin and I loved learning his though process and the reasons he was so horrible to Nina.
Another HUGE cliffhanger, I can't wait to find out the conclusion, I can't read fast enough!!
This is part two in a three part novella serial, and ends on an almighty cliffhanger. Told in dual POV, Nina and Devin.

Angelica Chase has delivered...again! She has created one hell of a ride in just two short installments. Reading her work introduces her unique style of powerful intimacy and steamy control wrapped in mystery and genius writing.
Reverence picks up after the jaw dropping name reveal that hit Nina in the heart. Again, the reader is thrust into a world of confusion. A new look into the world of the devil Devin and his disguise seems to lose some of it's malevolence. Is he a pawn or is he a player?
Oh, and so much more Aiden...the breath of new life and current owner of Nina's desires may just have more to him than the music! Smart, sassy, driven and in complete control of his life...he sees Nina...he gets Nina...he wants Nina...but who is Nina?
Who is this pillar of wealth? Never fitting into the opulent scene...her doing? Perhaps a greater force has kept her from the darkness of high society. Perhaps she has been conditioned in her wealth...used to get ahead...made to take what her libido craved...
Nothing is what it seems. No one is who you think. The mystery of the tale is so completely genius. Pure "reverence" for Angelica Chase and her ability to capture a reader with her complex characters, unpredictable plot, and perfectly executed erotica. I want ...no I NEED more...no doubt that this author is about to blow me away!

Reverence begins with the continuation of the cliffy from volume one's ending. Nina is unsure how to completely process this information but is determined to uncover just how complicated this connection could be. The triangle between Nina, Devin and Aiden continues to escalate. In this volume, we get much more from Devin’s POV and it only adds to the tension and as to who is the best man for Nina.
“My behavior toward her, though unforgivable in some aspects, had always been about protecting her, from me, from my wife and from a long line of mistakes I’d never be able to correct.”
With Devin’s intentions becoming apparently sincere to the reader, Nina is still unconvinced and continues to view Aiden as relationship potential, as he seems to be everything she needs and has been searching for.
“It’s preference, he said simply, and it’s what you need. I can satisfy that desire thoroughly and as often as you need it. It struck me then, I was a fucking fiend and he knew it. I felt a small shift in power then. Was I really capable of giving it to him?”
“About your sexual preference? I studied it. I actually did my thesis on sexual behavior.”
The sex is off the charts hot between Devin and Nina and Aiden and Nina. They are both domineering men in the bedroom and are not afraid to take command of Nina.
“I felt his tongue trace the contours of my backside before he buried his thick tongue inside, fucking my pussy with it. He licked me from top to bottom to top as I gripped my pillow, writhing in agony. Suddenly, I was turned over and forced to watch him as he shed his clothes.”
The author’s writing style flows well and I enjoyed reading the various POVs, including Nina’s inner thoughts.
Eagerly looking forward to reading Book 3 to find out what the hell happens!! Also want more of Taylor! What kind of naughty things is she up to??? Please let

As we continue on with part two of the Excess Series we dive deeper into the characters. What motivates them, moves them and ultimately we get to see who they are as characters. Angelica Chase took us on a journey with her Awakening Series and has us all on our knees begging for more with Excess.
Nina is trying to balance out her life, the wealth hasn’t given her everything she thought it would and the man that she had fallen in love with was giving her nothing. Her life took a turn when she met Aiden though. He was sweet, real and didn’t seem to be hiding from her. But Aiden sees something in her that only one man before had been able to draw out. And that man is Devin.
Getting inside of Devin’s head had me completely captivated. I wanted to know his motives – why he acted the way he did. Why was he preying on Nina, why was he not willing to let her go? Was it a need to possess her or was it something more? Although we get small answers, we are left with bigger questions as we end part two and await part three of this series.
I am in love with this series. From the writing, to the characters – from page one until the very last word. I am loving the pace that the author is revealing the bits and pieces, nothing is rushed or overdone. When she decides to turn up the heat, be prepared to get burned. The flashbacks to the early days of Devin were laced with sweet moments where we see a far different version of the man we got in book one. But then we see pure sexual heat with Aiden as he pushes Nina and gives her exactly what she wants. But there is still so much mystery lurking between these characters and I am dying to find out what the hell is going on!
If you are looking for a steam read that that will not only hold your attention but is sharply written, you need to pick up this series and read this author’s work. Ms. Chase has won this reader over and there is no doubt that I will be consuming anything she wants to write.

"She was my talisman, my charm, my fresh air."

"I think I might have bagged a set of brothers."

That is how previous book ended. Now I am going to tell you a secret.

What did I like about this book?
It was written in dual POV
It introduces us to different side of Devin. His thoughts about Nina.
"She was finally done with me. The pain creeping through my chest as subtle as a heavily swung axe told me I was far from done with her."
"And just like that, this prick fell in love."
Devin's relationship with his wife.
" 'I was just thinking about your pretty little head.'
'Oh', she said cautiously.
'Yes, I was picturing it under the guillotine.' "
The book took us time-traveling. It give us some informations about Devin and Nina's first meeting, also we see how their relationship was slowly building over the years.
So,
Aiden or Devin

5 I'm Sitting In The Deep Freeze Stars!!
This book picks up where the last left off. Told in Devin's and Nina's POV.
We get lots of answers but not all the answers. There are still things left unanswered.
We get a lot of answers about Devin and why he's the way he is. We also get his feelings for Nina and his wife.
I loved how when we were in Devins mind we also took a trip to the past. How him and Nina came crashing together.
I can't say much! Just know that Aiden and Devin are both hot as fuck and you will not be able to make yourself root for just one of them. lol Both bring out Nina's inner slut! Lmao!
I'm off to read the next book! I need to know wtf is going to happen! The shit hit the fan in this one and left you hanging on a damn cliff!!

After reading book 1 I needed some time because the content isn't for everybody's stomach.
Today I decided that it was time for book 2 and crap now I like Devin because part of this book is written from his POV and so we learn new things about his marriage and his relationship with Nina.
I couldn’t let her walk away. I needed to let her go. The realist in me knew it was for the best. I was forcefully married, she was newly divorced and had trust issues. We were a ticking time bomb, and yet as I watched her beautiful frame disappearing from my line of sight, everything in me screamed for her to stop.
But there are also new things about Aiden & Nina.
“Not exactly the reaction I’m used to when I declare that I’m a permanent bachelor.” “It doesn’t bother me. I just got out of that nightmare. I’m relieved you are this way. I won’t ever marry again, Aiden.” I felt a shiver down my spine as I said the words, more certain than ever of the truth of them.
And now Nina has to choose between two men...

Nina got on my nerves in this book. With the help of Aiden she learns that she likes to be dominated. I don't think that her sexual preferences should reflect on her life. I think her major problem is that she has to learn how to respect her self before she is ready for a commitment.
I like reading books by this author, even though the content of this one is debatable, so I will also read book 3 :)

HOOOOLY Shit cakes..I'm in love with Ms. Chase. She isn't aware of it yet. But it's Game. On. time! I'm on a team..he's my weakness and I love him. Again we haven't met but we are soulmates! #aiden can't wait for next one..like impatiently annoying even myself!

Wow! Angelica Chase knows how to write stories that pull you in and don't let go. I've read some reviews of this book that had people loving Devin. After reading Opulence, I didn't really understand how that could be. Devin was a scum bag in the first book and I was for sure team Aiden. Now I'm so confused. Thanks for that Ms. Chase.
At the end of book one, Nina has ended things with Devin. She's decided to pursue things with Aiden only to find out both men have something in common. In this book we get a closer look at who Devin is and why he's behaved the way he has. With the dual POVs between Nina and Devin, I feel like I understand him more and I have to say I like him better than I originally did. He's made it so hard for me to stay team Aiden.
Oh, but Aiden. I still like him, a lot! Aiden is available and isn't looking for love, which is good because Nina isn't looking to love anyone else right now. l really enjoyed his dominant side in this book and so did Nina. *wink, wink* I didn't see that coming, so it was a pleasant panty melting surprise. Ugh, how is a girl supposed to choose?! Can I have both??
I understand Nina's love for Devin now, but he's not available. It's unfair for him to think she should wait around on him, so he's okay with her moving on. That is until he sees who she's moved on with. The shit is about to hit the fan. That ending left me needing to pick up book three right away to figure out who she chooses, but more importantly who I'm going to choose.

Nina is still stuck between her two men but it looks like she may be leaning a bit more toward the unattached of the two. She spends time doing some recon and dealing with Devin’s crazy wife. Nina definitely struggles with her decision between the two men but with that ending scene I think there’s definitely a front runner going into book three.

With this book came quite a few chapters from Devin’s POV. This was exciting because we didn’t get to see much of him in the first book. Most of the chapters from his POV involved flashbacks which were awesome, because we got to see the beginning of Devin and Nina and we got to see him interact with his wife.

This book had tons of Aiden in it! He sort of had this transformation from a mostly laid back guy to a more domineering man. I was definitely liking this meaner side to Aiden. The ending of this book left me reeling and I immediately jumped into the next.

We inhaled this series in one go! We couldn’t put it down.
This is a SPOILER FREE REVIEW for the COMPLETE EXCESS SERIES

“Your misery makes you beautiful.”
We were lucky; we read this trilogy in one hit so avoided the waiting after a couple of cliffies. This story does not do what it says on the proverbial tin. It had twist, turns and a few errr wtf moments. It was erotic suspense with various levels of kink. The covers drew us in and the synopsis sounded promising so we jumped straight into the unknown.
‘And I was once again alone. Who exactly was I crying for?’
The writing was addictive and flawless which meant we were hooked from the onset. It had a dark sinister tone with off the charts passion, suspense and deception. The characters were hard to get a grip on but we have a feeling that this was intentional as they mocked us, shocked us and grabbed our attention.
“Don’t make me this monster, because for her, I will be.”
Sexy and thrilling the story developed but all along we could hear the Author’s voice in the background whispering for us not to get settled and comfortable. Part reason being the unnecessary Author warning which in some eyes could be viewed as an inadvertent spoiler.
“Some things are to be lived in the moment only, they can’t be captured.”
The Excess series explores the moment your past catches up with your present dressed in many guises. It explores a love that is not tied up into a neat little red heart. Rather it’s overwhelmingly chaotic and dangerous. Ugly and punishing. Devin, Aiden and Nina’s story is an intricate web of sexual desires and intrigue. This is not fluffy rainbow erotica. This is filthy, dirty lies.
“Man is not what he thinks he is, he is what he hides.” – Andre Malraux

Book 2 in The Excess series gives us quite a spin on the events from the first book, and my head is spinning!
These books need to be read in order, so make sure you read Opulence (my review) before picking this one up because the Nina/Devin/Aiden rollercoaster is really gearing up now!
This book is told in the dual POV of Nina and Devin, and damn my fickle heart, I’m falling for the bastard! I wasn’t expecting his POV, and when we get a clear picture of what his life is really like, everything suddenly looks incredibly different. And as he reflects back on his time with Nina, we can see the connection between them, and I began to understand why Nina is as obsessed with him as she is.
In the meantime, Nina and Aiden are getting to know each other better (REALLY better!). I fell in instant love with Aiden in the last book, his humour, lightness and seemingly carefree ways provided a nice balance for Nina. But there is a whole other side to Aiden that is starting to be revealed. He is still carefree and playful, living his life just the way he wants it, and there is something really attractive about that. But there is a lot more to him that starts to emerge as he and Nina start to open up to each other more.
This book is super hot! Between Nina and Aiden exploring each other anywhere, everywhere, and anyhow, and Devin’s reminiscing, there is sex a-plenty, and it’s sizzling! There are strong elements of submission and domination, but nothing overly disturbing.
Of course, the drama all comes to a head, and Nina finds herself torn between the two men – although not in the ‘traditional’ love triangle sense. It’s all very well done, and I am really enjoying watching it all fall into place.
The characters and their backstories are revealed slowly, and I love not really knowing the whole story. It keeps things interesting, and puts a different spin on the entire situation every time something new is revealed. There is more brewing though, and my mind is spinning with possibilities!
Once again, the story is fast-paced, exciting, intriguing and oh-so-sexy. There’s a bit more emotion in this one than the first, and I’m thoroughly invested in these characters, and their story. I particularly liked seeing Nina taking control of her life a bit more in this one. The book ends with a stunning moment, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

If this man was my knight, I had no doubt he was hiding the dark horse he rode in on.
