Don't let the title scare you away. Despite its ties to Convergence, this is almost completely standalone. All you need to know is that the Golden Age Marvel family's universe has been stitched together with the Gotham by Gaslight universe. Everything past that is totally self-contained and very satisfying for fans of either.
The main Convergence mini was a bit of a mess, but the individual minis were fun. The contrast between the more cartoony Shazam and the gritty steampunk Batman was interesting and the story is a fun time waster.
I really didn't get steampunk from this. At all. I didn't get much of anything. All right, so it stars three children in a Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew like storyline, except that, hey, they can transform into superheroes. It's cute, but nothing amazing, and I didn't like that sort of storytelling when I was a kid, it's worse now that I'm an adult.
