Going into this book I thought the author would talk more about his mental health struggles. Instead, it was more of an autobiography of all the most memorable and impactful moments of his life that shaped him as a person and as a Christian. I loved the casual tone and writing style as it felt like as I read it that I was sitting at Finkle's dining room table listening to him tell his life story over a cup of coffee. I hold some different theological views than Finkle, but still he inspired awe in me over the extreme mercies God has also shown me. This is a quick, maybe 2 hour read, that I think would encourage anyone who loves to read about God moving in the lives of other Believers.

I am happy to call Jack Finkle my friend and recommend his book. I am glad to say I believe Jack is a born again, saved from hell soul, having trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A great preacher long ago said, we are born with a black dog inside us but when one is converted there is a new white dog inside us, and these two fight every day. Which one wins the fight? The one we feed the most. Jack wrote this book to warn the reader not to listen to the Devil, because he is a liar! Jack is an OVERCOMER today, for as Paul the Apostle said: "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." (1 Corinthians 10:13) When worries and fears overwhelm you, diligently look for God's way to escape!

The Extreme Mercy of Jesus Christ is a very honest and personal memoir about faith, family, pain, forgiveness, and the difficult experiences that shaped Jack Finkle's life. I appreciated how openly the author shared both his struggles and his mistakes instead of trying to make his story look perfect. His journey shows that faith does not mean life will always be easy, but that hope and mercy can still be found during the hardest moments. I especially connected with the themes of forgiveness and learning to let go of bitterness. The book is emotional, thought-provoking, and deeply centered on the author's relationship with Jesus Christ. I would recommend it to readers who enjoy Christian memoirs and real-life stories about faith, struggle, and restoration.

A raw, honest testimony that meets you in the dark
The Extreme Mercy of Jesus Christ isn't a polished, distant memoir it's Jack Finkle opening up his life completely, from childhood wonder to the depths of depression and despair that once pushed him to the edge.
What struck me most: this isn't a story about someone who had it all figured out. It's about someone in real crisis, and the mercy that reached him anyway, even when hope felt gone.
If you've ever doubted, hurt, or felt too far gone for grace, this book will speak to you. Not preachy just real. A beautifully honest, deeply moving read. Highly recommend.

Overall the book was good. At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it but a few chapters in it got better. The ups and downs of the author are real. The struggles he faced are things people go through all the time but a lot won’t confess to it. They won’t admit that they need help like he did. The reality of God showing up when we need Him the most was emphasized making this book not only relatable but encouraging as well.

This is a beautiful well written testimony to the grace and power of God and the lengths He will go to reach us in our darkness.
