We all know that there are massive volumes of fitness related science and technical knowledge available to fitness professionals, physical education professionals, sports coaches, and parents. If you are in the industry on a daily basis, then you also know how easy it can be to get sucked into arguments about who is "right" and which training science is the best. We're not going to do that. The intention here is to provide some insight into what makes training science matter. Of course, it would be a disservice to discuss the science of training without also considering what is most fascinating about the youth fitness industry, the art of coaching. It’s here where the proverbial rubber meets the road, and it’s here where all that we know is either multiplied into something that can change a child and help him or her become a better athlete and better person or totally negated by an inability to relay the complexities in meaningful and effective ways. It’s there, in that nether region between what is “cast in stone” and those for whom the stone must be translated, that I have faith you will find my thoughts helpful and impactful.
