One Liner: An emotional second-chance romance with an intriguing premise, but the romance never quite convinced me.

This romantic suspense follows a former couple whose teenage pregnancy led them to keep the baby a secret from their families before placing the child for adoption. Years later, their now-grown child unexpectedly reenters their lives and needs protection, forcing the two of them back together and reopening old wounds.

The premise had a lot of emotional potential, especially with the complicated family dynamics and the difficult decisions the characters made as teenagers. However, I found the execution uneven.

One of my biggest distractions was the FMC's name constantly switching between Bex and Becky. While they're technically the same person, the frequent interchangeability pulled me out of the story more than once.

Since I haven't read the previous books in the series, I also struggled to keep track of the large cast of recurring characters. It's probably rewarding for longtime readers, but as someone jumping in mid-series, there were so many siblings and side characters that it became difficult to remember who was who.

The story spends much more time exploring the FMC's and MMC's relationships with their child and their respective families than rebuilding the romance between them. While those emotional reunions were meaningful, the romantic relationship itself felt underdeveloped. By the time they were back together, it seemed to happen because the plot required it rather than because I'd seen them truly work through their past and rebuild the trust they had lost.

Overall, this is a heartfelt story with strong family themes and an emotional second-chance setup, but I wanted more focus on convincing me that the romance had genuinely earned its happy ending.

And finally it's here! I've been eagerly awaiting Bex and Logan's story for the last few books on Naomi's Salinger Security world.

Wet have had hints of their shared history for a while now and all these intrigued me and I expected a belter of a story and , oh boy! This did not disappoint!

So Logan and Bex had been together in their teens and we know from previous books that a teenage pregnancy leading to an adoption was hard for them to deal with and they separate.

Now they are in the same place, they've grown up but they still have feelings for each other and are now open to reconnect.

But that baby they had is now a teenager, Dominic with attitude who seeks them out needing their help. His parents are gone in and he has young siblings to care for and keep safe.

I really love the way Naomi says is so much about her characters motivations and strengths with just a few well written words.

Both Bex and Logan are strong and very likeable so I was routing for them from the start to finish!

Through in the Salingers and the family they build around to them and this crew is as force to be reckoned with! And not is that need as peril comes close to Dominic, Bex and Logan.

There are many great family touches running through this story. We see a family pulling together despite their disappointment and hurt. And I fall more in love with this family with every book!

Thank you Naomi for another wonderful read.

Wow such a great book! Absolutely loved it. Especially with the addition of the kids.

When their 15 year old adopted out son turns up on Logan's doorstep, he and Bex from Salinger Security aren't prepared for their life to change.

The drama and danger that Dom brings with him and the kids is a great incentive to read this book. They added a depth to the story as well as a more focal interest. The intensity of the action as well as the added intensity to their relationship and also from her family shows the layers of story that went into it.

Very well done, I felt I got involved in the story and wanted to get to the end to find out how it all goes. Bex and Logan were a great couple who loved dearly and wanted the kids to be safe and happy. But their chemistry really works and they are hot for each other that really sells the book.

Such a brilliant well done book and I highly recommend it.

Bex and Logan

Let me start by saying Naomi McKay has a way of telling a story that will keep you glued to the book. Rebecca "Bex" Salinger has been friends with Logan Evans since kindergarten. He is also Bex's twin brother Mason's best friend. They spent almost all their time together. Logan didn't have the best home life growing up. The Salingers considered him part of the family. Even when Bex and Logan had a difficult decision to make as teenagers, they still loved each other. Fast forward 10 years and Bex and Logan finally decided to take their relationship to the next level. Events take a wild turn and things get more chaotic by the minute. This story was a heart pounding journey from start to finish. Will Bex and Logan be able to figure things out and get the HEA they deserve? Get this book and find out. Sorry, no spoilers.

At last! The story of Bex and Logan that I feel I have been waiting ages for! I love the whole Salinger series, the relationships between the family members are always an absolute joy to read about, they are so believable in the way that they fight, they tease, they wind each other up, but ultimately they love, and are completely loyal to one another. Bex and Logan are a great couple, independent, well rounded characters who have loved one another since their childhood, but needed to part to find their own ways. At last the time has come for them to look towards a future together but this path is fraught with danger, and suspense, making for a page-turning tale. I highly recommend this book and eagerly await the next instalment.

Logan and Rebecca were together through their school years. While still teenagers with an unexpected pregnancy, their lives drastically changed and they went their separate ways.
Fast forward 15 years, he's a doctor and she's been a Ranger now with her family's security company. Their teen son turns up at Logan's place with a toddler and a baby. He's on the run from the killers who killed his mum and stepdad.
I was really invested in this story and the drama that came with it. These two want a second chance at love with an instant family but someone is still out to tie up loose ends. Bullets were flying in the heart stopping moments wondering if they will have their happily ever after.

How can you not love Bex and Logan! Their story was amazing and had me tearing up. All the trauma they had to deal with from a young age was just the beginning for them until many years later when the child they adopted out turns up on their doorstep with his siblings and has to be in hiding. The entire story had me on tenterhooks and I fell in love with Domenic and his siblings. The Salinger family is fun to spend time with and when danger lurks for one they all rally and do what family does; support one another in any way they can. Loved the whole story and I am so glad that Bex and Logan were able to have their second chance at love and family. Naomi Mckay has done it again.

Logan & Bex had me hooked & wondering as to why as I started the book. Was super angry with Bex's reasoning for her decision. I loved how despite the baggage they both still loved so strongly. The Salinger family are an absolute joy to read whether they are bantering, loving, being angry or handling security issues. I love the dynamics the family has. Dom & the kids tug at your heart strings & kept me on edge as their relationship developed. Fabulous read to enjoy!

Naomi McKay takes romantic suspense to a new level with The Doctor. Bex and Logan work together to help their orphan son and his siblings by keeping them safe and trying to find out who is after them, while struggling with a wide range of emotions that put them on a roller coaster ride of feelings. I loved how the story was weaved together as this second chance love fought to overcome odds that would keep most couples apart.

Absolutely loved this book. Bex and Logan were supposed to last forever but after they gave up their baby she pushed him away so he could follow his dream of becoming a doctor now years later that love hasn't gone away for either of them. When their son shows up looking for safety will this final bring them their happy forever?

Naomi write stories to dive in too, emotional and romantic suspense. This story is both, it touched me deep and i could not put it down. The friendships and family is a grounding and loving backup when you are in a difficult position, but also if you keep secrets. Danger and love is a great combination for reading.

High-stakes protection, totally HEA worthy

Naomi McKay delivers another absolute hit in the Salinger Security series. This is a definitely HEA. The found-family dynamic of Salinger Security shines so brightly here, and the balance between heart-pounding danger and scorching heat is spot on.

This series is so amazing. I have been waiting for Bex and Logan's story. I was not disappointed! This can be read as a stand-alone but, do yourself a favour, and read them all! The characters are all so real and family oriented. I loved getting to know Dom, Landon, and Victoria.

Sometimes the healing journey takes the long way, such is the case with Logan and Bex. Giving up a child is a devastating choice and finding your way back from that can seem impossible until you’re literally given a second chance. Family drama, danger, lies, a second chance romance and a second chance at the life you’ve always dreamed of round out this emotional read. Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and review her work.
