I work full-time as a zoo curator, so when I'm not running a zoo, I'm trying to tame the one I live in! I have two kids, and a husband who sometimes acts their age. I can usually be found jamming to Elvis Presley tunes, or diligently chipping away at my never-ending 'to be read' pile. I tend to gravitate toward anything paranormal. I love creatures who fly and characters who sprout fur or fangs. Sprinkle some romance and magic into the mix, and I'm a happy girl!

So, I have to admit-the first half of this book did drag a bit for me. There was so much that was unknown on the paranormal side of things that it made the story feel kind of plain and without focus. Once you pass the halfway point though, the picture starts to get clearer and things pick up.

As for the characters, Kara is my type of young woman (and not because we share the same name, albeit spelled differently). A bit of a loner, but strong in her beliefs and convictions, with a tortured past from which she's trying to move on. She's an easy character to like and feel for. Dominic runs hot then cold, mean then sweet and tender, cruel and evil then loving. Until you get pretty deep into the story, he makes it extremely hard to root for him. Cayden on the other hand is-as Kara's roommate Cassie adamantly observes-a guy that everyone would go nuts for. I have to heartily agree with that assessment.

Until I passed that halfway point and started to really find out the background pieces behind who Dominic and Cayden really are and what drove each of them, I was fully behind Cayden all the way. Once the height of the conflict comes and we see the outcome between Dominic and Kara...well, I could more easily understand and get on board with them.

A story about the battle between light and dark within us, and true love conquering all, The Devil's Wingman did frustrate me at first, but the ending did make up for most of that. Recommended for 18+ due to language and some mild sexual scenes.

The devils wingman

4.5 stars

This book was good, the first half was like a typical college settling in and having crushes...with a difference as there's little hints here and there. Moving on to the second half it really picks up pace and I had to finish it in the same sitting!

It's a story about good against evil, both I could easily have fell for! Cayden, he comes across as typical sporty college boy, but his so much more than that.... Dominic, his dark and mysterious in a good way, but if you think that's all there is to him your mistaken.

Kara, I took to our main lady straight away, she's not had an easy time but is back on track starting college again, I loved her first day, she has some very amusing inner thoughts. She's a complicated one, she's strong but sad and quiet but fun. You put her with Dominic and they fit perfectly....it's not that easy though.

Another characther that needs a mention is Mrs Dixon, she only has little cameo appearances but I loved her.

As I say the first half is easy reading with story/characther building, but hold on to your seat, the second half will have you melting, worrying, holding your breath, cooing to an unexpected conclusion.

Would I recommend this book, hell yes!

The Devil's Wingman - J M Davis 4 Stars

Kara is moving back to near to her home to finish her last year of university closer to her mum. She has never truly recovered from the loss of her dad and is still just surviving each day. Here at her new college she meets Cayden and Dominic, but things arn't what they seem. Kara is so intensely drawn to Dominic, but can it work out for them ?

I have dropped a star on this one purely because it took me quite a while to get into this book and I found the storyline and drama quite slow initially. However, once it got started I was hooked and I really really loved this book.

I am a big fan of supernatural reads and I like the difference and edge this book has. Whoa the ending blew me away, I love that it didn't end how I predicted it would.

The Devil’s Wingman is perfect, in every literal sense possible.

5 stars won’t even do the romance, the story, the characters, the writing any justice! This novel is definitely worth so, so much more!

EVERYTHING. EVERYONE. IN. THIS. NOVEL. IS. TOO. BEAUTIFUL.

J.M. Davis. Her. Writing. Is. Just. Too. Beautiful.

The way her characters come to life, the words they speak, the emotions they feel, it’s so real and almost as if you can feel their emotions!

“My fraying willpower makes it hard to walk away from you.”

The love, between the characters, is so sweet, so romantic and yet so devastatingly beautiful!

“If anything should happen to you that is the day my own heart will cease beating.”

This novel gave me the extremely-tragic-love vibe…like Titanic…and now I feel like the author has torn out my heart and then paste it back inside using glue or something!

“It’s hard to see you obsessing over him. I want you to love me, the way you love him.”

“I’ve never loved anyone like I love him.”

(IT’S LIKE THIS REALLY EMOTIONAL ROLLER-COASTER JOURNEY!?)

KARA – She will do anything to keep him in her life.

DOMINIC – He will do anything to keep her safe.

CAYDEN – He will do anything to give Kara happiness.

For those of you who read my reviews, it’s rare for me to write about authors who have extremely beautiful writings because firstly, it is rather rare to find them, and secondly, J.M. Davis really kick ass in that aspect.

Highly recommended for angel-human-devil romance lovers and for those who would love to get themselves in deep emotional feels!

~~I received this in exchange for my honest opinion~~

This is one of those books that when you put it down to do something else, you are thinking about it while doing that other thing. This review is harder to write because, I cannot convey what I am feeling to words. This is a great book, please don't misunderstand. The feels that I had with this book are strong. I think I went through several feels before this book was over. I was scared for Kara. I also felt sad for her. But the main thing that I didn't feel for her situation is pity. She has had a hard year, and pity is the last thing that she needs. When she feels the eyes of a dark and mysterious person, she is drawn to him. She doesn't understand it, and frankly she really doesn't want to. Then there is the other boy, Cayden, she is drawn to him as well, but not in the same regard as Dominic. When she understands who Dominic is, and what he is about, she still is drawn to him.

This book will make you look at good vs. evil in a whole new light. The battle that people have with addiction and with daily personal struggles is where sin comes in. But, when you read this book, there are things that I never expected to happen. First off, I was crying at the end of this book. Im not going to tell you why, you have to read to find out. But I know you will have at least 1 tear escape from your eyes. I am very happy at the way the book ended. I was grateful that there was some good that came out of everything.

If you haven't read J.M. Davis' book yet, then you need too!!

You know those books, where you read the blurb and you think; 'hey this sounds good', and you sorta get an idea what it’s about, but then you get to reading and it’s nothing like what you thought? Devil's Wingman did that for me. As I was reading, I kept thinking, didn’t see that coming, or had WTH moments. In case you’re wondering, that’s really good.

Kara is starting over her last semester of college, at a new school closer to home. She is that girl, the one that prefers to be alone, doesn’t want a bubbly roommate, isn’t willing to participate in any school functions. Just go to class, and get through the rest of her time.

Well that doesn’t work for her, she gets a bubbly roommate, who will have you laughing, and ends up friends with Cayden, a star baseball player, who has made it clear he is interested in Kara. But all Kara ends up seeing is the dark haired boy in her art class, Dominic. She doesn’t understand why her eyes are always drawn to him, but they are.

This is a good vs evil sort of love triangle. This story went way deeper then I was thinking it would. Very good character development, I was pleased with how this story ended up. I give this 4 MJ stars.

This book totally gave me a book hangover. I finished it 2 days ago and I am still thinking of it and hesitant to start a new book.

The storyline was a really different paranormal romance. This is my favorite genre to read and I have read many but this stands out because of the many emotions this book elicits. My emotions went from sad, to ecstatic, to terrified, to relieved, and many others in between.

The characters were well thought out and came to life in this book. I felt like I knew each of them and I think that is part of the reason why I am not ready to move on yet. Dominic had many sides to his character which had me completely torn (I don’t want to give it away but you will see when you read it! Torn in a good way). Cayden is awesome too and had me melting but also had me raising my eyebrow to figure out what was going on. Kara has a level head and is easily relatable. Because of this, I felt myself going through all the same emotions she was going through during the story.

This is a fantastic debut from J.M. Davis. I am definitely following her now and I am excited to read future works!!

I have to start by saying the I love the premise of this book. It takes the classic battle of good against evil and gives it a new spin and gave the concept of devil and angel on your shoulders a whole sexy new meaning.

Kara is a girl battling depression and loss. She is broken and reclusive and yet she manages to express herself beautifully in her art. Dominic is the ultimate sexy bad boy. He's got such evil in him and yet he is also fun and playful and you get pulled to him. Cayden is the gorgeous, safe and sweet angel and I couldn't help routing for him.

I have to say this story had a really slow start for me. Nothing really happened until halfway through. Although the story is layered in mystery, I really would have preferred a more developed paranormal layer. Also when the villain showed up, it lacked the bite and danger I was expecting.

Still this is a good romantic read. The intensity of Kara's struggles are done very well and the contrasts between Dominic and Cayden provided great entertainment. The author's writes beautifully and I'll happily read her again.

3.5 Lovebites

Do you believe in Heaven and Hell? The fight between Angels and Demons? What would you do if you were confronted by an agent from both sides? Kara is battling demons of her own; she is struggling with the loss of her father and just trying to get through each day. When on her first day at her new college she is mysteriously drawn to this young man it throws her for a loop. She hasn’t been interested in the opposite sex in a while. In just one day she meets a man who radiates light and goodness and another that pulls her into a vortex of darkness and mystery. Dominic knows he is no good for Kara but the light from her soul calls to him. When his demonic nature causes Kara to try and end her life twice he tries to stay away but Kara doesn’t make it easy. Cayden is an Angel and has loved Kara since before he even met her. While he tries to save her from herself he falls further in love with her even offering to make the ultimate sacrifice for her. Will love prove to be enough to redeem Dominic? Can Kara survive long enough to help Dominic become mortal? Or will Cayden convince Kara that loving him is the better choice? When you’re the Devil’s Wingman can you every really be redeemed?

****** Reviewed on behalf of Obsessed by Books *******

I love a paranormal read every now and again, and I found this to be a very different read. It is one of those books that at the beginning you will find it hard to get in to, but you need to keep going as it gets better and better.

Kara transfers to a different university due to the death of her father and the fact that she isn't coping at all. I feel that she is just living life as she has too, and that it is very hard for her to deal with the loss. On arriving at the university, she meets two very different men. Cayden and Dominic are the complete opposite from each other, you could say good and evil.

As I said it is a different take on the paranormal and PNR lovers should all read this one. I look forward to see the next book by this author.

Kara has had such a rough time after the loss of her father. She decides to come home and finish her last year of college. She meets two guys that couldn't be more different. There is so much more to Dominic and Cayden that what they appear to be which definitely complicates her relationship with them. She is so drawn to Dominic, but he has a dark side. I loved that Kara was just so normal throughout the story. It made it easy to connect with her. Her story is filled with passion and suspense and inspires the spectrum of emotions along the way.

I give The Devil's Wingman 4 hearts!

A must read!! Sexy men, dangerous situations, good and evil and above all else love! What girl can resist a devilishly sexy man who wants nothing but her? But can she dance to the right time to keep what she wants?
Kara has had it rough the past year with losing her dad and some other serious situation that's happened to her. She's in a new college now and can't seem to stay away from one man! But there's another that wants her as well!
Addicting story line one that you won't want to quit reading!

The Devil’s Wingman is a deliciously sexy play on the devil and angel that rest on your shoulders. Sin and temptation become a primal battleground of good vs. evil and the tantalizing gray space between.

Very interesting storyline but it kind of dragged in the beginning. The story got interesting as it went. But karas thoughts were stubborn and weak at first and I think stupid. Now kayden and Dominic characters are something and love them. I guess you would have to listen to give your own ratings. Narrator did a great job.
