4.5 ⭐️ A psychological thriller blended with dark romance 🔥 love this so much. Rude of the folks that just this rated low with absolutely zero explanation 🙄 Anyway...
Right from the start, I felt like I was watching a season of Law and Order.
The writing was incredibly descriptive! Love that style. Draws you into the story so that you can visualize being right there with them.
The FMC is portrayed as a young FBI agent of five years, who has been intrigued by a man's story who was accused of murdering his wife.
You kind of guess early on that the two of them will meet... and oh, boy did they meet! The tension and angst between them and the sneaky stalker romance move he makes... 🔥 IYKYK
I thought the pacing was great! Kept me interested, LOVED the relationship with the bestie 💕 The banter between the FMC and the partner was a nice touch.
And that spice... okay gurl... we see you! 👌👌👌
The suspense and reveal was what I would expect for a dark romance, wrapping up with an ending to make us swoon.
Now let's talk about why I didnt rate this 5 stars. I was all for the FMC falling for a mysterious, dark man, but I wanted her to be FIERCE! To wake up like that (read the book and you'll know) 😜 and react NOT how he (and I) was expecting was a small let down.
Wish the moment of her realizing it was him would have played out a bit differently. Felt like we could have kept that mystery just a little bit longer.
The last thing was the besties response to finding out what was going on, kind of surprising, to me anyways. If it would have been me as the bestie I wouldn't have been so 'nice' and definitely made some threats about drawing a line to protect her job. 💪
Overall, its a unique blended, spicy, story with touches of darkness, suspense, and romance.
