At Hollowbrook Academy, every secret has a cost.
Everest Calloway has spent his entire life perfecting the act he allows the world to see. The winning captain, the swoon-worthy golden boy, the perfect son. Yet beneath his polished reputation and ruthless control, his past lingers closer than anyone expected.

Reid Wilder, on the other hand, has always lived in the shadows. Hidden, watched, and shaped by the cruelty of a house that was never meant to be his home. So when Meg crashes into their lives, both men already understand that showing affection is a weakness neither of them can afford.

Meg carries scars of her own, and with a handsome hacker in her back pocket, she is on a mission to uncover the answers she deserves. However, as buried choices surface and the truth behind Hollowbrook’s biggest scandal unfolds, Meg finds herself tangled in a web of lies and danger she wasn't ready for. Because before the rivalry, before the rescue, and before the blood on the stadium walls, there was a love story no one was supposed to see.

*This dark academy romance is a Why Choose trilogy, giving a happy ending to all. Some secrets were never meant to survive the light, and you'll need to check all of the trigger warnings to survive Meg's story.*

**PLEASE NOTE - the intended date for this release is 1st October, should the characters behave as planned!**

Book 2 in the Hollowbrook series brings us back to the beginning. This time we get Cody/Reid’s version of events, with the sprinkling in of Everest. Book 1 left me feeling slightly angry with Reid right up until the end then I was confused and felt like I clearly missed something. This book gave us all those missing pieces! And what a puzzle they created. Getting Cody’s backstory really made me angry FOR him this time instead of at him. Now that the story is all caught up with everyone I can’t wait to see how these 4 are going to come together and get their HEA. This book gave us everything I didn’t know we were missing from book 1 and I love the relationship that could be if only Everest would stop trying to be someone he’s not and Cody would be honest with how he’s feeling. While we got that growth towards the end I’m hoping it continues in book 3. Meg has been through so much, but this book showed so many similarities between Cody and Meg that I think they could be a nice support to each other. I can’t wait to see how this one ends.

Beta read review

If I could give this book 6 stars I would. This is a why choose dark romance and has trigger warnings so please check that you’re not going to be affected before reading.

Maddison has an amazing talent and she can easily give you goosebumps when you read her books. Having different character povs is brilliant in this book so you can actually see how everything is affecting the characters but also how it’s interpreted by the other character and for this book in particular it’s needed.

You will be drawn in from the prologue which has been beautifully written and the flow of the story is just as good.

I totally expected this book to have gone in a different way but I’m so glad we got this version
