Bad boy drummer Aidan Burke of Dirty B takes center stage in New York Times bestselling author Emma Hart’s hotly anticipated follow-up to Dirty Past and Dirty Secret!

Aidan Burke is the perfect rebound guy for Jessie Law after she catches her asshole ex-boyfriend with his hands down some other girl’s pants. The world-famous drummer of Dirty B isn’t shy about his preference for no-strings-attached relationships, so when she meets him on a night out, she takes him up on his simple proposal: One night of fun. Hot sex. Zero expectations.

But Dirty B’s tour is over, and they’re back in South Carolina—which means running into Aidan more often than Jessie would like.

When Aidan saves Jessie from her ex-boyfriend by insisting the two are dating, the band’s manager convinces them to keep up the charade in the hopes of re-inventing Dirty B’s image as lovable bad boys, as opposed to d-bags. Now all Aidan and Jessie have to do is put on a very obvious, very public show to convince everyone their affection is real.

But pretending to be in a relationship is harder than it seems. Aidan’s hordes of jealous fans have no problem bombarding Jessie with threatening messages online—and worse. And things only get more complicated when Jessie realizes her feelings for Aidan may not be so fake after all. Can Jessie live with the risks? And is Aidan willing to let her?

"I agreed to be your girlfriend in public, and that didn't include your fuck buddy in private."

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Okay let's toss in another LOVE because I absolutely LOVED Dirty Lies, the third installment to The Burke Brothers. Emma Hart has been one of my favorite authors and in her newest book, Dirty Lies, proves again as to WHY I LOVE this author so much!! Dirty Lies was just sinfully hot, sexy and dirty!!!!

#DirtyLies

"FUCK. I fell in love with my LIE."

Okay so if you have read the previous two books of the series, which I say is a MUST in order to fully enjoy the series then you would understand my obsession with the Burke family. In the first two books of the series, we have watch these bad boy Burke brothers slowly be taken off the single market. First it was Conner and then Tate and now the bad boy drummer of Dirty B, Aidan is now a taken man.

#DL1

Aidan Burke is your quintessential bad boy rock star. He is twenty four years and never has a problem attracting the ladies. His reputation of bad boy screams dangerously hot and sexy. So when the band Dirty B, are back in their hometown taking a 3 month long vacation to relax and regroup, Aidan never thought running into a childhood friend would lead to one night of hot sex with zero expectations. After his one night with the sexy red-headed tattoo bombshell, Aiden didn't expect his run in with Jessie Law would mean more than one night when he saves her from an awkward situation with her ex-boyfriend.

"The relationship is fake, but my feelings sure are starting to feel real. Really fucking real."

Jessie Law knew she was in for some dirty trouble when she constantly found herself running into Aidan. When Aidan proposes that she should be his fake girlfriend to help improve his social and media image, she never thought a dirty lie could be the best thing she ever wanted and needed. And let's just say, sparks are igniting when these two are around each other. The sexual chemistry between Aidan and Jessie were so tangible and palpable that readers could probably hear the beating of their hearts as these two knew they were in for some dirty trouble as they fell deeper in love for each other. So what started off as a lie and fake relationship might end up the being the best thing that ever happened to them. Will Jessie Law be enough to tame and reel in this bad boy dirty talking drummer? Will Aidan Burke be the third brother to fall victim to LOVE?

" You...arranged...me. You took all of my ideas about you and you totally obliterated them, but while you did that, you slotted in all your quirks and the things that make you, you. Kinda like Tetris."

#DirtyLies1

So you wanna know the truth about what I really think of Dirty Lies by Emma Hart? So here it is, I LOVED IT. There is no lying about it, this book was sexy, hot, sinful, seductive and fun!!!! And how could you not love the deliciously dirty talking bad boy drummer of Dirty B. Ms. Hart did phenomenally job with this book and series. She has made readers like myself fall in love with The Burke Brothers. Dirty Lies was a perfect blend of sass, humor, fun, and dirty sexy yumminess!! So if you are fan of a hot bad boy and a fiery sassy red-headed heroine then I highly recommend you to read this book and series. And lastly, I can't wait for what Emma has in store for Ky... one more Burke brother to go.

So this book was disappointing.

About 40% of it was really awkwardly written. I mean the writing was awkward. As if the author was going through a writer's block. It was like Sheldon Cooper trying to give someone a hug. He can't figure out where to pit his arms and how much physical contact he should make and it's just... awkward. I couldn't understand why it was like that because I've read many Emma Hart books (15 to be exact). She's better than this.

Another problem I had was that the story was weak.

I have a theory (I have a lot of theories). It's that the author only wrote this book because she wanted to write about all 4 of the brothers. She had an idea about Connor's story and maybe even Tate's. But with Aidan, it was just so all of the guys would have their own book. Let me explain why I think so:

1. This is a really short book. And even then, the book was stretched. If that doesn't say lack of plot, I don't know what does.

2. The backstory and their "hatred" for each other is ridiculous. A grudge over something that happened in middle school? Really?

3. They barely even had a reason to not be together. The whole thing was stupid and there was no plot!

On top of that, there wasn't much chemistry between Aidan and Jessie until about half-way through the book. But that, too, got ruined when the weird writing came back near the 75% point. The big conversation they had near the end was pathetic (blame wierd writing).

And finally, the characters were seriously underdeveloped. The book began with Jessie not being that okay with swearing and then she was dropping f-bombs throughout the book.

Talking about f-bombs, whoever declared that it was necessary to put at least 5 of them on every page? Now, I have no problem with swearing. But cussing that makes no sense and is there for no reason other than because the author wants swearing in her book, that's unacceptable. Besides, there are a dozen characters in the book and all of them swear excessively. There's no originality. All the guys dirty mouths (hence the name, I guess) and all the girls are "strong independent women who take no shit". Which basically means that they they're rude and bitchy and do lots of cussing. Not to mention say that they're strong, independent and "not like other girls". Because, apparently, all the other females on the world are sluts.

So yeah, unoriginal, one-dimentional characters, bad writing, zero plot and not much else. Honestly, the only reason for the 2.5 stars is that some scenes were cute and because Aidan didn't write a song. And because it wasn't overdramatic like I thought it would be.

And... we're done! I'd avoid this book since there's not much to it.

“She might hate you now, but one night is all it takes to fall in love.”

Prepare to laugh, swoon, and fall in love in the latest offering from best selling British author, Emma Hart, and her southern rock stars, Dirty-B. Dirty Lies was a great read from the hilarious beginning, to the super sweet end. This book is full of highlights!!

Jessie was such an absolutely fantastic character. She had the usual wit and sass of a Hart Heroine, but Jessie also carried an air of fierceness, and I couldn't help but become attached to her. The banter she shared with family had me laughing on far more than one occasion, and I found myself really looking forward to the Law family scenes.

Then of course we have Mr. Aidan Burke... I can't help it. Rockers just do something to me, and the Dirty-B drummer was no exception. He was full of charm, humour, and downright sexiness! I loved getting to know him, and when he was surrounded by the rest of the Burke brothers and their ladies? Even better!!

Those Burke brothers sure have a way of working themselves into your heart! Jessie stood no chance (and neither will you!) as southern rocker boy, Aidan, turns a dirty lie into a beautiful promise. Another great addition to this series by Emma Hart.

“Of all the lies I’ve told, you’re my favorite one.”

“Falling in love is exactly like Tetris. Each piece that drops to the bottom of the board is a quick or idiosyncrasy or perfection of each person, color coded, shaped awkwardly. Sometimes they fit and sometimes they don’t. That’s the beauty of the game. In the end though, each piece is designed to fit perfectly. And when they fit–they fit.”

If ever there was a hate to love story, this is definitely one for the books. Jessie and Aidan’s story is such a fantastic read. What started out as a one-night stand, quickly turned into a lie; a relationship of convenience. At the time, it sounded like a good idea. Aidan pretending to be in a relationship with Jessie to get Jessie’ ex off her back; and Jessie pretending to be with Aidan to make the music exec’s happy. Sounds like a win-win, right? Well, it would be win-win, if these two liked each other. However, these two hate each other. I mean loathe one another. It’s amazing that these two even agreed to something like this! You had to know that this plan would backfire! You had to know that eventually the lines between fake and reality would blur and let me tell you, it sure was fun watching it all unfold.

Dirty Lies was a fun and entertaining read. It was well written and captivated me the entire time. I loved Aidan. He was sexy, funny, determined and boy did he have a mouth on him. But, there was so much more to him than meets the eye. There was this whole other side of him that was just begging to come out and it took being with Jessie to see the real Aidan; the Aidan that cared and made your heart swoon. With lines like these, any woman would be a goner: “I want to own every inch of your body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. I want to brand your skin every time I touch you, and I want you to be owned by me. Do you get that?” Or “ I want to kiss her just because I want to. Because I want my hands in her hair and my shirt twisted in her fingers, and, damn it all, I want my heart to fucking pound right alongside hers. I want to feel my body tremble with anticipation as she grazes her teeth along my lip. I want to feel the tingle of desperation as she moves closer and I hold her tighter and we loose ourselves in the kiss. I want to kiss her because I remember the distinctly sweet yet savage feeling of being lost in Jessie Law”. And Jessie….What a strong, sassy, stubborn, frustrating woman. I mean, she really dished it out and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. I loved that about her. She challenged the heck out of Aidan and didn’t let things come easy. She was smart and really protected her heart and in the end she turned out to be just what Aidan needed. And the chemistry between the two of them…..Yowza!!! I mean wow!! For two people that hated each other, they sure had some some page burning chemistry!

Dirty Lies was a fantastic read, from start to finish. It was a really great addition to The Burke Brothers series. Once again, Emma Hart has given me another great story, filled with just the right amount of angst, romance, drama and sexy times. She continues to knock my socks off with each book she writes and keeps me coming back for more. I can’t wait to see where she will take us next!

What happens when the greatest lie becomes the most beautiful truth?? You get the amazing journey of Aidan and Jessie.

The Burke Brothers are back and better than ever. Oh how I've missed these characters and am sad because there is only 1 more book to come. I know I am truly going to miss all these characters. Especially my little Mila, she is just too cute for words!!!!

"Sometimes lies are made to last."

Dirty Lies is the third book in the Burke Brothers Series by Emma Hart. And can I say that these Burke Brothers just keep getting better with each book that is released. Emma has created a cast of characters in this series that stick with you well after you have finished reading the book. I love that each of the characters are so relatable and you just can't help but fall in love with them and want to be in their circle of friends. I also loved the storyline of this book. It was funny, engaging and kept my attention all the way through. I really had a hard time putting this book down. I couldn't get enough of Aidan Burke ;)

In this book we get the story of Aidan and Jessie. This story leans towards a friends to lovers type story, because Jessie has known Aidan since they were young. I have to say that I think Jessie is my favorite heroine from this series so far. She wasn't the typical broken character. She comes from a good home, has a college education, a job and a take no prisoner attitude when it comes to life. She truly says it like it is and doesn't take crap from anyone, especially Aidan. These two are truly meant for each other. I thought they balanced each other out well. And what starts out as a lie turns into something truly wonderful. I thought the pace that Emma took these characters was great. We got to watch them slowly wake up and realize their feelings for each other. And the chemistry between them…can I just say that my panties melted and my ovaries burst on many occasions!!!! I will say that Aidan does come off as an arrogant jerk in the beginning, but there was something there that just sucked me in. I was in love with him by the end of the first chapter.

I loved how much Emma put the other characters in this story. We got to see a lot of Tate, Ella, Connor, Kye, Sophie, and Mila. Each of these characters play a huge part in this book. I have to say that Mila is still my favorite character in this series. That 2 year old could melt a frozen heart and I love how she keeps these Burke Boys in line!!!

Dirty Lies is a technically a stand alone book, but I truly believe to get the most out of this series and the Burke Brothers, you should these books in order. You will see that each of the characters are so intricately entwined in each others lives, that you'll want to start from the beginning to get to know all of them. As with the other books this book is told in Dual POV, which is always great in my opinion, because then you get to read about both sides of the story and what everyone is feeling and thinking.

So if you are looking for that Rockstar romance, with fantastic characters and an entertaining storyline, than this is the book for you. If you are a fan of Emma's then you don't want to miss this book. I know I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I want to see if Kye is like his twin brother Aidan.

These Burke Brothers are definitely under my skin :)

Aidan is by far, without a single doubt my favorite Burke Brother! Emma Hart just has this thing with words. Words that make you fall in love , laugh, cry and connect with these characters almost instantly. Her writing style is refreshing and her characters are so damn lovable. These Burke Boys will win your heart every.single.time guaranteed! Dirty Lies is a sexy, tantalizing, humorous, witty and a total swoon-worthy 5 star read!

Aidan Burke is Dirty B's drummer. He is sexy, hot, tatted and deemed a womanizer just like the rest of the band has in the past. But underneath all that rock star hotness is an incredibly sweet, caring, swoon worthy man that you will fall in love with. But Aidan has been told to tame the beast and what is the best way to make the paparazzi happy? Fake it till ya make it.

Jessie is a sassy, spunky, take no shit attitude kinda girl and I absolutely adore her just like I have all the other girls that have been introduced in the Burke Brother series. She is seriously one hardheaded girl and really refuses to let Aidan Burke truly into her life, EVER. These two are thrown together by a lie. What happens when the lie starts to become real?

This little dirty lie turns into an epic battle of two total opposites and you'll have a front row seat to this captivating action! This book is one you won't put down until you've read the very last page. Be ready ladies and gentlemen, hold on to your heart because Aidan Burke might just run away with it ! This is my most favorite book in this series yet and I can't wait for more!

I seriously love mama Burke she knows how to put her boys in their places, “and you! Sit your a** down, boy.” She moves her pointing finger to my bed, and I take three steps back and perch on it. “I raised you better than this. I raised all y’all better than this. I know this lifestyle and your . . . manager . . . sometimes makes you forget how to behave yourself, Aidan, but I’ll be damned if you’re gonna stand under my roof and talk about Jessie like that. A girl you’ve known almost your whole sorry life. I couldn’t give your father’s left testicle if you don’t like her or if y’all are still fighting from grade school. But if you’re gonna go through with this silly plan, you’re sure as hell gonna treat her like a lady and not a piece of trash. And that means takin’ off that goddamn T-shirt, pressin’ a shirt until it’s crisper than bacon on a Sunday mornin’, and watchin’ your mouth when you’re out with her.” Aidan doesn't care where he is when he wants his woman he wants his woman, “he’s also learned that beds aren’t necessary.” I perch her on the edge of the marble-topped island. “And that this house needs christening, and that should happen effing immediately.” I loved this book, there's only one more Burke brother to go before the series ends.

This book was a nice surprise because I really thought that this was going to end as a so-so read. The plot wasn't the most original one so that certainly didn't help with my doubts. But damn if I didn't enjoy this book! This may be the only Dirty B book that got a giggle from me. So far.

By the end of this book, it was easy to forget that what Aidan and Jessie started with was a fake relationship. These two were just so easy to read about and I loved how they just clicked. I don't know but I guess the fact that they went ahead with their so-called relationship with eyes wide open was key. I loved how it eventually developed even if they both were too stubborn to admit it at first. And yet, they managed to work it out. And I really thought that was a trip of a read!

Aiden and Jessie are a fun friends to lovers couple but the "lie" drags on a bit too long. Jessie's sister is funny. I was hoping for a bigger ending for these two. I'm disappointed there's been no engagements thus far.

I found it a little slow at the beginning, probably because Jessie drove me nuts. She was so angry and mean to Aidan. I do love the brotherly dynamic between Aidan and his brothers. There were quite a few funny moments that had me laughing out loud! I absolutely love this series though.

4 'Dirty B Diva' Stars!

Tate Burke? Who Tate Burke? Oh! I see, you talking about the eldest Burke brother. Well pfft, if you thought that Tate Burke was a hot piece of alpha male that would make you go weak in your knees then you haven't acquainted yourself with Aidan Burke.

Whoop whoop! Dirty B are back in Shelton Bay and Aidan Burke is about to wreck the best kind of havoc in Jessie Law's life. Now, Aidan and Jessie are not meeting each other for the first time. They've known each other since high school hating each other but now, years later they meet again and sparks fly! *cue Taylor Swift's track*

"Why, Aidan Burke, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you like me."
"Like you? Here's an idea, baby, shut your mouth for five minutes and let me just show you how much I like you."

Aidan isn't looking for happy-ever-afters and Jessie is on the hunt for a distraction after being cheated by her ex-boyfriend. These two meet in a club and then... BAM! Passion from the first look.

One night.
One proposition.
One lie.

One chance encounter and eye contact, both have the single most amazing night and even more amazing sex of their life. But it was just one wild wild night before they realized that what they had was not a one night thing.

"A real gentleman would absolutely haul his woman off his shoulder –and he'd smack her ass for good measure too."

Well, whoever said that romance was lost? Jessie wasn't ready to 'spanked' of her feet. Nope. She was perfectly content with what was between Aidan and her.
And well then there is Aidan. Behind all that bad boy persona lies an extremely sweet and caring man. He even saves Jessie from her good-for-nothing ex boyfriend when he shows up at her work begging for a second chance.

And then comes the proposition and begins the whole charade of dating.

"...of all the lies I've told, you're my favorite one."

And why not? It is after all a win-win situation for both of them. Aidan gets the label and paparazzi off his back and Jessie gets rid of her ex.

But all lies have a way of coming back and biting you in the ass, right? But what happens when that bite turn out to be a major love bite that both of them weren't exactly expecting?

When a Burke falls in love he falls HARD. Aidan's fans, the Dirty B Divas, are not happy with the bad boy being taken. They love Aidan and they 'gun' for Jessie. Oh what? You thought it was rainbows and sunshine? Think more along the lines of hate messages, egged cars and death threats... Yup. That's what you get for loving a Burke.

Like any trademark Emma Hart heroine, Jessie is feisty, independent and strong and butts heads with Aidan and faces the backlash with poise. Until she couldn't?

"Open your eyes... Then you know what you look like when you belong to me."
*swoon*

Will Aidan and Jessie's love be enough? Or will everything come crumbling down?

Please note: We had two reviewers read this book and their opinions differed. Our star rating is an approximate average of the two. That's books, right?

Another sexy home run for Emma Hart. The Burke Brothers do not disappoint—still sexy, dirty talkers, with magical fingers…among other parts!

Jessie's known the Burke boys before they became famous, and the one that has always stood out was Aidan, because of what he did to her. Jessie being Jessie has held on to that grudge since then. I loved how she didn't fangirl them when they came back into to town—instead she was just herself with them, especially Aidan.

Aidan, being the manwhore he is, has been warned to calm down and stop being in the ‘news’, so now he's back home, all he wants to do is just chill. And yet, when he sees Jessie he knows he won't be doing much chilling. Though, the one thing he wasn't expecting was to play the hero and come to Jessie's rescue when she's confronted by her ex-boyfriend. Something in him compelled him to be her hero...or so he thought.

I have to say that the interaction with Jessie and Aidan was hilarious at times but, more than anything, it was frustrating because how hard-headed Jessie was. She didn't like being the damsel in distress so she made sure she wasn't, yet Aidan couldn't help but being her "hero”—even when she made it clear she didn't need it. These two were like oil and water, and constantly at each other’s throats. I will also say that the chemistry between them is scorching hot and ‘I Hate You Sex’ is something I will have to find out about ;-)

Once again, Ms. Hart, another Burke Home Run! ~ Kara, 4.5 stars

~~~
Oh, Emma Hart, be still my heart… The boys from Dirty B are back! I’ve been anxiously awaiting Aidan’s story since the beginning with Dirty Secret. And, *sigh* Aidan didn’t disappoint.
Aidan is one sexy, swoony, hot, dirty-talking drummer. He’s looking forward to some downtime after being on tour for the past several months. He is out for some relaxation, fun times and one-night stands—no strings attached.
Well, that’s until he runs into Jessie Law at the bar and can’t keep his eyes off of her. Aidan finally manages to get through Jessie’s churlish charm and gets her to agree to one night of hot, no strings sex. The next morning, Aidan runs into Jessie again at her job and in an attempt to protect her from her pushy ex-boyfriend, Aidan pretends to be Jessie’s boyfriend. Unfortunately, Aidan’s declaration is said in front of some of the town’s biggest gossips, so the story spreads like wildfire.
The Dirty B boys have been trying to improve their image, and their manager convinces Aidan and Jessie to stick together—fake it for the cameras—merely a business relationship. Fake is all well and good until real feelings get involved. Will Aidan and Jessie “end it” as planned or will they fight to make it something “real”?
Dirty Lies, for me, was a bit of a challenge to get through. I really wanted to love it, and I did end up loving the last 25% or so, but the first 75% had me in fits. Let me tell you what I loved:
1) Mila. She’s wrapped her daddy and her uncles right around her chubby little finger and I can’t get enough of the adorable scene stealer.
2) The Dirty B boys. I love their brotherly relationships, how they love each other, support each other, nag each other. They’re brothers and they’ll be brothers through thick and thin.
3) The quiet moments between Aidan and Jessie. When they’re just doing random things and *ahem* sexy things, where they just let each other be, those moments are sweet and poignant.
But for all that I loved, there was a lot that I just really didn’t like…
1) Jessie as a whole. Her character, I think, was supposed to come across as sassy, bold, and take charge. Unfortunately, she was more bitchy, shrewish and bitter. And, where did she come from? She’s been friends with Sophie and Ella for years, and went to school with Aidan and Kye, but I don’t remember a mention of her name until this book.
2) Dropped story lines. Jessie’s ex and the manager stories never amounted to much.
3) The secret but not so secret “fake” relationship. There was missed opportunity after missed opportunity for Aidan and Jessie to have to “validate” their relationship.
I love Emma Hart and her writing. I am looking forward to Kye’s book due out early next year. I just think this was a bit of a miss in an otherwise excellent series. ~ Missy, 3 stars
Ah Aidan Burke, the next Burke Brother in line to settle down. Two people brought together in a web of lies, only to realise that the feelings they are lying about hold a lot more truth.
Dirty B are back home from their tour, ready to relax before heading back to LA to record another album. Although the entire town of Shelton Bay is excited to have their famous boy band back in town, Jessie is far from excited - she couldn't care less about the guys she grew up with and who annoyed her in high school. But when Aidan, one of the twins, saves her from her persistent ex, she is soon dragged into a lie where she is Aidan's girlfriend, on the order of Dirty B's manager, in order to tame the band's rock star image. Aidan has always let Jessie know that he wants her, but her determination to keep away from him can only protect her feelings for so long. Because as her feelings towards Aidan begin to change, Dirty B's passionate fans become aggressive towards her, and she's soon questioning whether she could live in the limelight like her best friends, all of whom are in relationships with a Burke brother. If Aidan wants the girl, he has to prove that a life with him is more than just being in the spotlight.
In the previous two books, Aidan has of course been an interesting character, but we've never seen that much of him - his twin Kye has had more of a focus than he has - so I didn't know what to expect from him book. And, just as the previous two installments, I really enjoyed delving into the life of another Burke brother.
I have to admit, Jessie's initial reasoning for not wanting to get involved with Aidan - that he threw a tennis ball at her face back in high school, only to proceed to ask her to senior prom and being publically rejected by Jessie - is a tad petty. Of course, it's understandable that someone who went to highschool with the brothers wouldn't be overly fussed by their fame. But to want to avoid Aidan all together because of something that happened in several years before is a bit of a stretch. Nevertheless, it didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying the story.
It was interesting to see how Jessie handled the online attacks by Dirty B fans, and it put focus on how online fandoms can be very harsh when their favourite bands/actors/etc get into relationships, especially with non-famous people. Emma did a really good job at showing why these threats, attacks and even real life abuse is so very wrong, and I think it's an important thing for fans to remember the next time they want to threaten someone online.
As always with companion novel series, it was great to see the continuation of Connor & Sofie, and Tate & Ella's stories as we also watch Aidan and Jessie's relationships unfold. Their relationship, by the way, is filled with a lot of arguing and tension, which is honestly some of the best relationships to read about. The pair slowly realise their growing feelings, and yet neither want to believe they are falling for the other.
Once again, Emma delivered a really great Dirty B romance, even setting up Kye's relationship for the next book. It was sweet, steamy and momentarily heartbreaking, but it was worth every smile, tear and giggle. New adult romance fans should definitely check out this series and fall in love with the Burke Brothers!
I absolutely loved the deliciously dirty talking Aidan Burke, and Jessie Law is the perfect girl for him because she refuses to allow him to control her, and she is more than happy to put Aidan in his place.
Every lie begins with truth.
Every legend was borne of reality.
All readers have probably seen the effects of a lie and the fact that it can instantly fester and spread is not unusual, and that is exactly what happens when Aidan forces Jessie to pretend to be his girlfriend. But what happens when small glimpses of the truth sneak into the lie - can the truth ever out power the lie or is there no way to push past the deceit solidified so much so that no one will believe anything but the fabrication?
The deceitfulness of lies and the mess they make is a huge topic of discussion in Dirty Lies...but another just as important issue is what crazy fans and online keyboard warriors do to the lives of the famous and those they love, and depending on how the celebrities are able to handle the chaos/gossip/altered facts determines whether or not they can be in a relationship and make it or watch it burn out due to lack of trust and understanding.
I love enemies to lovers’ storylines, especially when there’s a rich history between the hero and heroine. This is exactly the situation that Aidan and Jessie find themselves in when he steps in to help her and ends up setting social media on fire, which in turn, brings out Jessie’s bitch mode, which I adore, and sends them down a rather tumultuous path of secrets, lies, and hard truths.
The way Emma Hart plays out Aidan and Jessie’s fake relationship is brilliant because it’s completely realistic, and as the saying goes, there’s a thin line between love and hate, which definitely proves true for these two.
There are multiple layers to how Aidan and Jessie feel about each other and because Hart allows both of their perspectives to be heard, readers understand Jessie’s concerns, Aidan’s outlook, and the reasons they’re both denying how much they actual work.
Jessie Law is one of my favorite heroines because she doesn’t give a rat’s ass about what other people think about her and she has never been afraid to do her own thing. She’s a passionate woman who is easily wound up by Aidan, but she also knows how to give it right back to him.
Dirty Lies is a phenomenal read; it’s sexy, angsty, and dirty, which is a perfect combination - one that Emma Hart continues to master!
One more Burke boy to go!!
The third book in the Burke Brothers Series and we finally get Aidan's story! I've been wanting to see him fall for a girl for a while now, and I loved how Aidan's story went!
The boys are back in town for a break before heading back to L.A. to record, and now that Tate is behaving himself, the boys manager has made it clear that Kye and Aidan needed to be on their best behavior.. so what does Aidan do? He talks Jessie, the girl who he tormented in high school and very publicly denied his request to prom, into being his fake girlfriend. What could go wrong?
Jessie and Aidan get along like oil and water.. they just don't. Jessie is full of spit and fire and Aidan doesn't know how to handle her, but seeing her riled up is something he gets a kick out of. They agree to this public facade of being in love for the media, but their time together starts to make each of them doubt if this is really fake anymore.
Seeing Conner, Tate, and Kye get on Aidan when he is a jerk was quite hilarious. They put him in his place, and he definitely pouted like a little girl, but I think it helped him figure out how he really felt. Getting Jessie to believe him is another story.
Aidan is the epitome of an alpha male. He's dirty talking, and a cave man.. and Jessie refuses to let him control anything about her, so its quite hilarious to see them go back and forth when they argue. The tension between them is so hot, and their time along is extremely sexy. I loved these two together, they balance one another out!
Getting to see Aidan finally tie himself down was awesome. I have loved his characters in previous books in this series (all stand alones) so I was ecstatic to finally get his story. The way this book is written will have you guessing the whole way through if they can finally figure things out and move past the lie and truly have their own truth.
I highly recommend the Burke Brother Series by Emma Hart. Each brother has their own story and each one seems to get hotter and hotter. I love how you can pick up in the middle of the series and not have to guess what is going on, but if you're like me and have read all of them, getting to see how previous characters are doing is just a plus.
Dirty Lies is a hot and angst filled read that I devoured in one sitting. I am hopelessly in love with Aidan and his dirty talking mouth, and adore the girl who put him in his place!
I have received this book as a member of the XOXperts, XOXO After Dark’s official street team, in exchange for an honest review.
Aidan Burke you dirty taking, hot piece of Alpha male where have you been hiding all this time. How I Loved loved loved him. I was drawn in right away.
When Jessie Law after catches her ex-boyfriend with his hands in someone else’s cookie jar she hits the road. Ready to drink her sorrows away Jessie is out looking for, what we shall call him is, a distraction. Only the distraction that she is looking for is none other than Aidan.
When the famous drummer of Dirty B locks his eyes on Jessie across the room he sets in his plan to make her his, but just for the night. You see he isn’t looking for the happily ever after that everyone is raving about. The thing is that Jessie and Aidan have a past. Not a good past. Seems he was a jerk even in high school. But with one look at the wild looking Burke boy she decides it’s a one night thing. Actually she is the one who insists that they don’t even talk while doing the mambo.
What she isn’t ready for is to be swept out of her spank and waiting for more. But when the dust is all settled and every piece of clothing is back in place Aidan saves Jessie yet again when her douche bag of an ex shows up at her job asking for another chance.
Pfft. Like that is going to happen with Aidan on the case. When Aidan finally gets Jessie alone he tries to get her to go away with the charade of them dating. I mean they have already done the naked tango why can’t they just pretend to be dating. It’s a win win for both of them. She gets rid of her ex he gets rid of the powers that be forcing him to clean up his whorish ways.
But what happens when their fake relationship reaches the thrones of all of Aidan’s fans. Well they gun for Jessie. I mean they don’t send her roses and will wishes, they send her death threats and voodoo dolls. Which makes this so much better. Not only does Jessie meet Aidan head to head she stands up and never lets his get away with anything. I loved their banter.
Except what happens when Jessie’s lies start to become the truth. What will happen when Aidan is forced with cleaning up those dirty lies!
This was my favorite of the series.
I absolutely adore this author. Every time she has a new book out, I get super excited. She has a serious passion for writing and you can tell when you sit down to read her books... well more life devour them in one breath. Her books flow so well and are written so flawlessly with heroes we swoon for and heroines we can't help but root for. This newest series by her is has become a fast favorite of mine for this year and definitely something I will reread in the near future.
This book is probably my favorite one in this series to date. This is the third book in the Burke Brothers series but can be read as a standalone (but why do that when there are more of these men to totally fall in love with before Aidan's story). This book was sexy, sweet, beautiful, and had a perfect love story that will take you through all the emotions but have you totally smiling by the end. It will make you laugh, cry, smile, swoon, fall in love, and want to possibly throw your kindle at times.
This is Aidan and Jessie's story. Full of passion and intensity, these two will take you on the ride of your lives. Their story was super intense and kept me on the edge of my seat. Aidan will make you swoon and melt your panties. And Jessie, well she may make you want to shake her a time or two but you can't help but find yourself rooting for her. I loved the chemistry between these two and the fact that they had history. I love me some rockers and Aidan.... no words are really needed for him.
I highly recommend this book!
This my first book that I have read by Emma Hart. And I promise is wasn’t intentional either. And it won’t be my last.
First off I must say you can definitely read this book as a standalone in the series and not be lost at all. However, there are previous characters in this book so if you do not want to know how those characters ended up where they are, do not read this. Otherwise, you are good to go.
“Every lie beings with the truth. Every legend was borne of reality.”
I really enjoyed reading about Jessie and Aiden. These two are obviously from the same area and went to the same school. And yes, they had their fair share of run-ins, but neither saw the other as anything more than just that – classmates.
The dynamics between these two is amazing. They are like oil and water yet they both know how to set a spark in the other. They challenge each other in ways no one else has. They don’t put up with the other’s bull either. And they hide nothing – what you see is what you get. Except the lie they are telling the world…..and themselves.
“I fell in love with my lie.”
I truly loved watching this entire relationship blossom. The interactions between Jessie and Aiden had me laughing so hard at times. And seeing them both with their families, it just really made the story so much more real.
Emma really know how to make a story feel very real and true to life. I enjoyed reading about the other brothers and it makes me want to go back and read their books to see how they got to where they are.
Great series and I am looking forward to reading more of this series and more from this author.
Dirty Lies is the 3rd book in the Burke Brothers series by Emma Hart. The brothers make up a rock band and each book tells the HEA of a different brother. The first book remains my favorite, but this one was not bad.
This is Aidan’s story. He is known for trouble making and one night stands. The last thing he expects to happen is to fall into bed with his old love/hate friend Jessie. After news of their tryst gets out, Aidan’s manager suggests a steady relationship is good for his image and the band’s music sales. Aidan proposes a pretend relationship to keep the press off his back and a terrible Ex off Jessie’s back. Things begin getting complicated when their friendship turns to more.
“Every lie begins with truth. Every legend was borne of reality. Think about that before you let her get in the car with your brother.”
The plot is not much more than the title suggests---there is this ongoing premise of the lie. Jessie and Aidan fight. They make up. At some point, things change.
“Fuck. I’ve fallen in love with my lie.”
My favorite parts of the book were when the whole Burke family is together. Connor, Tate, baby Mila, Momma. All those scenes were priceless. I loved catching up with the other couples. Jessie and Aidan seemed destined for each other, but I wasn’t feeling much more than s3xual chemistry with them.
I do enjoy the series and I enjoy this author. Of the tree books so far, this one is probably my least favorite. Easy read and perfect for a quick little something on a rainy day!
It's the lies you have to watch out for. They usually find a way of becoming your truth. It's a chance that Aidan is willing to take while Jessie is more hesitant about it.
When you're associated with the Dirty B's, you also know the logic behind fooling the media. It helps the boys look good while promoting their music. Unfortunately, it's not always so good for the other party. This particular lie was supposed to benefit both of them, help Aidan look good in the media while getting Jessie's ex-boyfriend off of her back. It was supposed to be easy.
This story is easily my favorite in the series. Aidan and Jessie are perfect for each other. They both have a snarky, take no shit attitude. They fight like crazy, yet can have each other laughing again in no time. While the dislike they have for each other has stemmed from when they were younger, once you get to really know someone you see them for who they really are, not who they portray themselves to be.
I could honestly read their story non-stop. If this was a book that never ended, I'd be happy. They just clicked for me. I love couples like this, that bicker back and forth and hate everything about each other while loving it all the same. Emma Hart makes writing look easy, like it just flows so seamlessly from her fingertips and creates the stories that we love so much. She's an author I automatically one-click, no matter what the story is about. She's just that good.
I received an ARC of this book from InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book's blog tour promotions.
I have to admit that I was actually hesitant to read this book. I read both Dirty Past and Dirty Secret, and while I enjoyed both books, there were some issues there that stopped me from being a hundred percent sold out. Dirty Secret had a very interesting story line, but I just could get myself to like the heroine. Dirty Past was a bit better, but I was kind of disappointed in the resolution of the issues at the end. I decided to soldier on and read Dirty Lies because it still sounded really good, and I kind of like this particular Burke brother.
It turns out that continuing this series was a very good decision on my part. The main characters just had this chemistry that I didn't find in Book 1. I also liked the characters individually. Of course, Tate is still my favorite Burke, but Aidan is a close second. I also think that Jessie was the best heroine, so far.
If you haven't read the first two books, it's fine. You can still enjoy this book without feeling like you've missed out on a lot of details. However, it's more enjoyable to read the previous books before you read this because you will get to see Aidan as a band member, a brother, and a friend. Dirty Lies is a good book to read, especially if you like rockstars and musically-inclined heroes.
Audiobook provided by publisher for review. No remuneration was exchanged and all opinions presented herein are my own except as noted.
I thought there was some great descriptive, nearly poetic, language in this audiobook and for a short work of erotic fiction using the fake-relationship meme, there was a fairly high level of character and relationship development. The use of crude erotic language is limited and respect is shown for the women involved.
I was a disturbed at first by the way Aidan pursued a drunken Jessie in a bar. I had recently read a post about unwanted sexual touching being presented in romance as okay when it is not.
But, he did improve his behavior, and never used the “c” word; during the course of the book, Aidan does a lot of growing up and becomes a better guy.
Jessie’s internal monologue was very intelligent. She is actually a smarter character than Aidan. The author brings up some important issues like stalking, fame, paparazzi and internet harassment too.
I liked Lidia Dornet’s narration of Jessie’s voice. It is not too twangy when she speaks her own words or Aidan’s. Iggy Toma sounds like he just came back from the red-neckiest of red-neck events and, furthermore, chewing a piece of hay. I really disliked the way he voiced women, other than Aidan’s mother. Ugh!
I liked this more than I had the first book in the series and I would recommend it to someone looking for a good, steamy, rock and roll/country audiobook.
I'm really enjoying this series. Once again Mila stole the show :) She is such a vibrant character and so entwined with each of the Burke's that I really enjoy her character in this series and how she affects each of the boys. I'm a sucker for fake-out stories, I didn't see that coming as the main story arc for this book so I was happy. I really enjoyed the banter between Jesse & Aiden. I especially like how she is "Jesse" and constantly reminds people. I like that the brothers are all so close that they are in each other business. I was a bit surprised we didn't see more of the girls, and I don't remember Jesse being mentioned as one of Sofie's friends in the first book. I'm not complaning, I'm glad they are friends because I enjoy when past characters are involved in the continuing series. This book definitely had it's sexy time but it seemed short to me. It seemed like the book moved so fast, granted that could just be me wrapped up in a good book but this book felt different from the first two. I'm really liking this series and I can't wait for Kai's turn. One thing is I don't feel like we really wrapped up Jesse's situation with her ex, that seemed like the story just petered out. I'm still good and the epilogues in this series are entertaining. Kai here I come :)
A HUGE fan of the Burke Brothers Series by Emma Hart, I was excited to have the opportunity to read Aidan's book! The boys of Dirty B have personalities that will make you laugh out loud, shake you head at the silliness and cover your mouth as you gasp in shock. This book was a 3.5 star read for me and I highly recommend this series to everyone.
Aidan Burke is the last in the band to be "paired off" aside from his twin brother. Looking to stay out of trouble at the suggestion of his manager for his womanizing ways, he does the unthinkable, makes a deal with an old friend from high-school. Asking Jesse to pretend to be in a relationship with him so that he can be in the good graces of the paparazzi seems like an easy feat for Jesse, especially if it keeps her cheating ex-boyfriend from sniffing around. Jesse didn't think about what it would mean to be linked to one of Dirty B's members, the hate messages, swarms of fangirls and the tabloids. She also doesn't expect to begin to develop feelings for the man-whore that is Aidan Burke, until he starts to show her the real man behind the musical phenominom.
What will happen between these two? Can they actually take a fake relationship and turn it into a real one? Can Jesse live with the publicity that comes with being AIdan's girl? You will have to read to find out and I CANNOT wait to read the next book in this series.
