I really enjoyed watching Enemy travel through her kingdom and realize it's not as she thought it was. People are struggling, bad things are happening and not everyone loves her. I also liked that the book showed the messier, political side of ruling.
I loved the dragons and that they could speak!
Enemy was facing a lot of shit on her journey. There really was A LOT going on and I sometimes felt really bad for her. Slavers, attacks, sirens, dragons, a huge reveal about her father's death that I didn't see coming. But for most part, a lot of things came together way too easily for her. There was always a way out somehow.
My main critique is that Emeny goes through so much without much emotional processing on the page. I wanted to feel her fear, her guilt, her grief, her relief, but a lot of it is more "told" than "felt."
Therefore the way she changed by the end wasn't really relatable to me. She really gone madddd, like really mad. I even agreed with her awful mother when she said she didn't recognize her anymore. I really struggled to connect with her end-personality.
Writing-wise, the sentences are often very long and layered, which sometimes made it a bit hard to follow. There's some editing work to do before the official release.
Overall it's a good first release and I really hope for the kingdom that their new queen will be more of the kind side again :)

The book was fast paced and a lot happened in a short period of time and there always seemed to be a way out for Emeny, I would have loved for more focus on Emeny's feelings as she changed throughout the book but did enjoy the mystery of not knowing sometimes
I loved the formatting of the PDF version and thought the chapter art was amazing! You can tell the author has put a lot of effort into the book and it is going to be an amazing debut
I also loved the diversity of the book - some descriptions could have been in more detail to hammer this across
The author is also amazing, I reached out to point out some spelling and grammer mistakes and she was so kind and thankful

I absolutely loved reading this! The story is a wonderful read, and I was completely captivated by emeny and her growth throughout the book. This book is beautiful, and language guide and time guide and all that is a fantastic touch that really enhances the experience.
However, the pacing felt a bit slow at times. I also wished the author used more "showing" rather than "telling" to describe the events. Because of the heavy exposition, I found myself feeling confused during several parts of the story. I noticed a few spelling mistakes, though I am sure these can be easily fixed during the final editing process before official publication.
Overall, despite these minor issues, it is a lovely book with fantastic character development. I highly recommend it!

I received The Crown’s Golden Fury as an ARC.
Emeny’s story was interesting and enjoyable to read. I did feel the story could have had more struggle, certain aspects could have been explored more. There was alot of character introduced at the beginning which felt a bit overwhelming.
