I love a good Richard and Mary love story… and this one did not disappoint! Wow, Katelyn Rae, I love Fragile Reputation. You outdid yourself. Full of many possible outcomes, I couldn’t put this book down. Thank you for being true to your convictions in making this a low angst, clean love story that can be enjoyed by everyone. Can’t wait for your next book!!!

A Treat for Fans of Mary and the Colonel
Fragile Reputation is a Pride and Prejudice sequel written by the talented Katelyn Rae that once again explores the idea of Mary Bennet and Colonel Fitzwilliam falling in love—only this time, a year has passed since the events of P&P, and Mary and Richard meet at Pemberley, where their first impressions of each other prove to be somewhat misleading.
This time, the dynamic between Mary and Richard evolves from enemies to friends and then to lovers—and although that is my favorite romance trope, I didn't initially think it would suit Mary and the Colonel; however, as their interactions developed, I was completely won over by the idea. The plot was inspired by one of Mary’s famous quotes about Reputation, and a pivotal event in the story indeed ends up putting her reputation at risk. The moment the Colonel stepped forward publicly to protect her—and to secure what his heart secretly desired—was marvelous. Unfortunately, Richard fails to state the motive for his actions, leaving him in an awkward situation and Mary confused about his true feelings. What follows is a whirlwind of anguish for both, culminating in a deliciously perfect outcome.
The book is well-written, with only a few expressions that seem somewhat out of place for the Regency Era. The only thing I missed was the ball scene—given that the event was mentioned several times throughout the story—but the final chapter was extremely satisfying; the best ending scene for this couple so far.
Although A Red Coat remains my favorite book about Mary and Colonel Fitzwilliam, Fragile Reputation is a close second; I hope Katelyn continues to write great stories about this couple—they are my favorite pairing after Darcy and Elizabeth.

A Pride and Prejudice sequel where Mary Bennet has been living at Pemberley this past year. Colonel Fitzwilliam is back from the war after unexpectedly inheriting an estate. He and others arrive at Pemberley for a house party. Is it time that Mary found her happy ending.
