Verona Falls University #11

The Riders and The Rebel

I ran to the one man I thought could save me… and became his greatest threat.
When I went to my best friend’s dad for protection, he took one look at me, bloodied and broken, and demanded;
“Who did this to you?”
Jack-the-blood McGrath gave me a safe place inside his MC, and time to heal, but it went wrong from the start. Because everywhere I turned, temptation drew me in…
Rook - the eager prospect who wants to be more than just my friend.
Ace - the one who rescues anything lost… including me.
And Ghost - always on the edge but seeing everything.
Then there’s, Jack…The man who warns me away, yet who looks at me like I’m already his.
I didn’t mean to come between them, but as loyalties splinter and fracture in the chaos I’ve caused, an old enemy slips in and steals me away.
Now I’m captive in a dark place, and I can only pray that the possession I saw in Jack’s gaze was the truth, because this time my life is on the line.
And these four men are my only hope at salvation.

Oh my gosh, I couldn't put this down. This series seriously has a hold on me. I love Camille. I loved seeing her relationships with the guys deepen. So close for things to work out, but that cliffhanger had me screaming! Immediately diving into book three.

**The Riders and the Rebel** is the second book in the *Verona Falls Riders* series by Marissa Farrar and S.R. Jones, and if you thought book one was intense, this sequel takes everything to a whole new level. Packed with danger, emotion, obsession, and sizzling chemistry, this dark why choose romance delivers all the angst, tension, and addictive drama I could ask for.

This is absolutely **not a standalone** and picks up immediately after the devastating cliffhanger at the end of book one. From the very first page, the story throws you straight back into the action, and the pace never slows down. I was completely hooked from the opening chapter and found it impossible to put down.

After being kidnapped, Camile finds herself trapped, isolated, and subjected to unimaginable cruelty. Watching her fight to survive was both heartbreaking and inspiring. What I loved most was that her rescue wasn't rushed. The authors allowed the storyline to unfold over several chapters, creating a realistic sense of urgency and danger. Every moment of her captivity felt raw, emotional, and believable, making her eventual rescue all the more impactful. Even in her darkest moments, Camile refuses to break. She's fierce, resilient, and determined, proving once again why she's one of my favorite heroines. As a mafia princess caught between multiple dangerous worlds, she deserves nothing less than the fierce devotion of the men willing to burn everything down to save her.

And those men? They completely stole the show.

Jack, the MC president, continues to battle his growing feelings for Camile. The guilt surrounding their connection weighs heavily on him, especially considering he's her best friend's father. But the more he fights his attraction, the more obvious it becomes that he's already in too deep. His possessiveness, jealousy, and constant internal struggle had me desperate for him to finally surrender to what everyone else can already see.

Ace remains gloriously unhinged. He's chaotic, dangerous, and absolutely obsessed with Camile in the most captivating way. Every scene he appeared in demanded attention, and his fierce loyalty made him impossible not to love.

Ghost continues to be the mystery of the group. Quiet, damaged, and emotionally guarded, he slowly starts lowering his walls throughout this book. Watching him become more involved with both Camile and the growing relationship dynamic was one of my favorite parts of the story. His emotional journey feels earned, making every small breakthrough incredibly rewarding.

Then there's Rook, the youngest of the group and arguably the sweetest. Beneath the biker exterior is a man with a huge heart who adores Camile completely. His willingness to risk everything for her made me fall for him even harder.

What makes this series so compelling is that the relationships never feel forced. The bond between Camile and her men continues to develop naturally as trust deepens and emotions grow stronger. Following the developments from book one, where Camile's relationship with Ace and Rook reached new heights, book two expands the dynamic further. Ghost becomes increasingly integrated into the group, while the tension between Camile and Jack reaches an entirely new level. Every interaction is loaded with anticipation, longing, and emotional intensity.

The chemistry between all of them is absolutely electric. The attraction is undeniable, the emotional connections are deepening, and the tension is almost unbearable at times. Every relationship development felt significant, adding layers to both the romance and the overall story.

Beyond the romance, the suspense and action kept me completely invested. The motorcycle club politics, mafia connections, danger, and emotional fallout all blend together perfectly to create a story that is dark, gripping, and impossible to predict.

And then there's that ending.

That cliffhanger absolutely wrecked me.

Just when I thought I had a handle on where the story was heading, the authors pulled the rug out from under me once again. I genuinely have no idea how everything is going to come together in the final book, but I need answers immediately. Ghost is still struggling with fully accepting what he wants, Jack continues fighting a losing battle against his feelings, and the future of this unconventional family hangs in the balance.

Overall, *The Riders and the Rebel* is a gripping, emotional, fast-paced read filled with danger, obsession, loyalty, and heart. Darker than the first book, it tackles some difficult themes, so I highly recommend checking the trigger warnings beforehand. If you're a fan of why choose romance, motorcycle club stories, morally grey heroes, age-gap romance, possessive antiheroes, mafia connections, emotional angst, and cliffhangers that leave you screaming for the next book, this series absolutely deserves a spot on your TBR.

A sinfully addictive, tension-filled ride that left me desperate for book three.

The Riders And The Rebel is book two in the Verona Falls Riders series by Marissa Farrar and SR Jones. This has all my favorites; a dark and sexy why choose romance, irresistible age gaps, four dangerous MC morally grey men, and a fierce mafia princess who deserves nothing less than everything!

This book literally picks up right where we left in book one. Camile has been kidnapped. Taken and utterly alone, tortured by her captor, she slowly loses hope of her men finding her. But this girl is fierce and strong and refuses to give up! Her four morally grey men. Jack, the prez of the MC, is still completely fighting his undeniable connection to her. Dealing with the guilt he is her best friend’s dad. Ace, this man is unhinged and absolutely crazy but completely obsessed with her. Ghost, the silent, damaged man who is so pulled towards her and for the first time is becoming open to this woman. And Rook, the young rookie, who has a heart of gold and adores her and will risk everything, including himself to find her. She’s the sunshine in all their lives. And what ensues is them going to find her and the aftermath. The chemistry and connection between them all is so strong! The bond between them all is growing closer, even the attractions. And the scenes are pure fire! So many scenes that will burn you so good!

And the end, OMG CRAZY cliffhanger. I don't even know how this is all going to end! Ghost is still struggling with giving in fully, Jack is completely fighting his feelings and I am so ready because once he gives in, holy hell is it going to be fire hot! Can these four finally come together and give her the love and family she deserves? Because this girl deserves absolutely everything. So sinfully addictive, deliciously dark, and so much tension, add this book and series now!

This book continues at full steam ahead with the storyline. Camile has been taken; now they have to find out who took her, where they have her, and why. Jack is still pretending it's because she's friends with his daughter, which is why he is so anxious to get her back. Ghost, who has feelings for her but doesn't tell her, feels guilty he wasn't watching the feed. Ace is chaos, the wild card; he wants his princess back, and he'll tear the people limb from limb when he finds who took her. Rook feels out of the loop as he is only a prospect; he's not involved in church.

Camile prays that the men realise she has been taken, that they will find her before things go badly for her. She can't believe who has taken her, and why they want her. But worse is when she finds out the hand he has had in her family's misery.

Camile realises that she should have heeded the men's advice. They had asked her to stay in the compound for her own safety, which she totally disregarded and is now in this predicament. She also realises that all four men mean something to her. Is it too late for her to have it all?

The story remains action-packed from the very start. Fast-paced and steamy. It follows love, loyalty, and honesty. But when things seem to settle down, there is another big cliffhanger at the end, leaving us chomping at the bit for the next book to be released.

This is book 2 in the series and cannot be read as a standalone as it starts at the exact point that book 1 ends. I would also strongly recommend you check the trigger warning first as it does have darker scenes than the previous book.

I was hooked from the first page! The book dives right into the action picking up from the cliffhanger in book 1 and it doesn’t let up throughout until it ends on a cliffhanger again!

****MINOR SPOILERS FOR BOOK 1 AHEAD****

Camile’s rescue after being kidnapped in book 1 was not rushed, it played out across several chapters, which I liked as it felt like a realistic timeline, it was tough reading the way events unfold but it was well written and I was gripped.

After Camile, Ace and Rook took their relationship to the next level in book 1, in book 2 we see Ghost become more included with them and also Camile and Jack share a very steamy encounter, though Jack is still reluctant to take anything further with the 2 of them, but his jealousy and obsession with her grows more.

And that cliff hanger, I cannot take it! I need book 3 like yesterday!

A gripping, steamy, emotional, fast paced read that keeps you hooked throughout. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is a fan of why choose, motorcycle club, darker/taboo tropes books.

So, I love the VERONA FALLS RIDERS TRILOGY so much. In reality I love everything by Marissa Farrar and SR Jones. THE RIDERS AND THE REBEL is sexy, steamy, intense, violent, murdery, witty, and . . . well . . . intoxicating—addictively so. This book is very well written, filled to the brim with delicious characters, and the story is really, really good—just mind that cliff . . . it’s one doozy of a drop this time.

MC’s versus Cartel

A great continuation of the Verona Falls Riders trilogy, with Camile having been rejected by Jack she finds herself kidnapped by Ledger who's determined she'll be his wife. But thanks to Ghost, her men know what's happened to her and are on a mission to rescue her.

But once she's back and safe with them they all struggle with their own triggers.

Ace acts like an overgrown puppy most of the time, saving everything from cats to snails, but when he loses it, he's lethal, a wildcard bouncing off the walls.
Rook is still a prospect, and after going off on his own is on cleaning duties, but Camile can't lose him after what they went through together.
Ghost is terrifying, stern and hardened; he likes to watch and kisses like an angel.
And Jack is still in denial over his feelings for her, though Camile is starting to get though to him.

Verona Falls university is full of mafia families with secrets, dark steamy why choose forbidden romance (RH), banter, obsessive MMCs, age-gap, best friend's dad, stalking, kidnapping, spicy dark romance, suspense and plenty of twists - please do read the triggers. I couldn't put this book down and now can't wait for the third in this trilogy.

Arc Review

Let me start with you need to start from the beginning of the Verona Falls Riders.
Sure we continue within Verona Falls but this is the extension from the University.

Not going to mince words, but this was “UNBELIEVABLE “. Yes, went there. We are left with quite a cliffhanger. Yep tease.

This has exceeded all the V.F.U. Reads. I know we went on a different charter, now with Jack and his old Jackal Riders MC, but I am speechless. The dynamics are electric and questionable. So far this has been emotionally unstable. This would be the cruelest of the Verona Falls reads.

What has been enforced by the characters will leave you speechless. Be prepared for the worst as there was nothing not left on the table.

A will note though, I’d highly recommend age approval here as this is no light read. Cannot wait for the next instalment - The Riders’ Reign.

Hands down, this will tear you apart.
Salivating muse too

Book is a lot slower than book 1, still ate it up in half a day with ABSOLUTELY zero shame! And of couse a cliff hanger to set you up for the nice 3 month wait!

I thinks she writes this so well, you get insight into peoples heads without it being to much or giving anything away… she cuts at just the right time for POV swaps so you don’t relive hours of time again for no gain.

I love how this author lets her FMC keep her back bone after she gets men. No crying in a corner and some man will save her! She commands 😍👀🫡
She will not be knocked back.

I LOVE ace’s little Unh*need moments because 😘🤌🏼 what woman doesn’t need a little of that in her life!

PS … I’m sorry… GHOST KNOWS WHAT JACK TASTES LIKE.., just gonna slip that in there and hope no one notices that one are we?! Ace and rook we knew but more … ⚔️ ??

The story races forward as Camile is kidnapped. Now the club must uncover who took her, where she is, and why. Jack hides his concern behind their friendship with his daughter, while Ghost battles guilt for missing the feed. Ace is ready to tear the kidnappers apart to get his princess back, and Rook feels sidelined as a prospect.
Camile prays the men find her in time. Shocked by her captor and their connection to her family’s pain, she realizes she should have listened and stayed safe in the compound. She also comes to understand how deeply she cares for all four men— but is it too late?
Action-packed, fast-paced, and steamy, this installment delivers love, loyalty, and honesty—only to end on a brutal cliffhanger that leaves you desperate for the next book.

This is another fab installment for the series and it definitely has to be read in order. This book picks up perfectly from where book one ended and it's so intense. Camile had been kidnapped and we find she's been tortured and treated abysmally :( She's slowly losing hope that Jack, Ghost, Rook and Ace won't find her. Thankfully, they do, but they're still struggling with their relationship. I cannot wait for the next book because Jack, Prez of the MC, is holding out and when he caves, I think it's going to be supernova hot ;P Expect to get caught up in the action, drama, suspense, emotions and steam in this fast paced read. I'm counting down until the next book comes out to see how things continue to unfold for Camile and her men. Good fun!

Oh wow. This book starts off in a heart wrenching way. Camile is facing the terrors of being taken and the men are desperate to find her. The beginning is filled with lots of trauma for our girl and even for one of our guys and I dont want to spoil it and I feel like if I give and more details I will definitely ruin some of the ride for you.
This book had me in a chokehold and I read it in one sitting. These men are still my favorite though one of them is still being a sully grump. However Ace, Rook and Ghost are still making my heart skip a beat. Especially sweet baby Rook.
Definitely continue this wild ride, but be warned this cliff hanger is a steep fall.

Book 2 in THE PHENOMENAL Verona Falls Rider's series is The Rider's And The Rebel. This Verona Falls world is absolutely brilliant and these Riders's fit seamlessly into it. New characters, new storyline, new everything to fall head over heels in love with and these authors do it magnificently! Camile, Ace, Jack, Ghost and Rook are utter perfection and watching these men protect, defend and love their woman is priceless. But she's fierce too so don't go into this thinking she won't grow into herself because she absolutely is and she's doing it with a vengeance! There's a cliffhanger and it's a biggie so be ready for that. I can't wait for The Riders's Reign! Well done Ladies!

'Now I’m captive in a dark place, and I can only pray that the possession I saw in Jack’s gaze was the truth, because this time my life is on the line.
And these four men are my only hope at salvation.'

The characters were very complex and compelling and complicated and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and exciting and well paced. World building was solidly drawn and impressive. All in all a great addition to the series. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend!

4.5 stars! I’m only not giving it 5 because i hate cliffhangers!!!!! (Not really…but I need the next book.

Rook=precious. He’s great book boyfriend material. What he endured to help Camile was awful.

Ace= I love his backstory and the connection to his saving of things. The snails scene was priceless! He’s the little crazy/absolutely protective character we love.

Ghost= I am so intrigued by Ghost. It don’t even know how to put him into words. He’s the strong silent type…but not. He’s dominating…but not. I need more.

And…Jack. Oh. My. God. Jack.

I asked the author on Facebook if it was September yet (the release for the final book). I need to know more!

Covers of Book one and two are simply gorgeous! After the gripping cliffhanger in book one I eagerly awaited this second book. It begins with intensity, an emotional abduction and pain. Camile is taken and Rook goes against everything to find her. He is betrayed although I find his abduction to be Camile’s saving grace.
Ace, Ghost and Jack are searching for any sign of Camile and now Rook.
Book has so much packed in there’s betrayal, heartache, intrigue, forgiveness, steaminess and love in addition to ending in an emotional cliffhanger.

Review for the trilogy
3 stars

Interesting enough to read the entire trilogy but it wasn't effortless.

The fmc seemed younger than she was and her growth was minimal. Her reasoning was more in line with a teenager at times and that was annoying.
The men thankfully all had separate voices. It felt like the men could have had more depth if we'd learned a little more about them. We never got to see Ace mid animal rescue or release, nor the reason he was so invested in it. We don't know what happened to Ghost nor did he experience PSTD. I can keep going but you get the picture.
I really disliked Vani, and honestly, I'm happy I skipped her books.

Anyway, okay read if you're not too picky.

So... this is just as amazing, if not more so, than the first book. It was so hard waiting for this to come out. Now that I have read it, I am aching for the next one so, so, so, so bad. The angst is there, and Camille, even with all she has gone through, is finding her own power and strength through it all. But man, that cliffhanger is brutal to the next level. Maybe even the worst I have ever had. I am anxiously awaiting the next book.

I was pulled back into Camile's story right away! It easily held me captive!
There was action, suspense, and danger. It was also a lot more emotional than I expected.
Camile was put threw so much. Not only her, but Rook too. It broke my heart.
However, I want to mention Camile's strength and resilience despite.
Of course there was some great spice too. The relationship growth is what I loved the most though.
Sadly, we are left on another cliffhanger. I'm crossing my fingers we will get book 3 soon!

Motorcycle why-choose

This is the 2nd book in the series. It picks up where it left off in the first book. Camille has been kidnapped and the guys need to find her. Camille relationship with Ace, Rook, and Ghost strat to change and grow. Jack is still holding him self back. But how long can that last.
Omg the cliffhanger was crazy. Can't wait for the next book and to see where this motorcycle world takes me next.

Loss of words, that cliffhanger has me in knots. Camile is in the club of her best friends dad. Jack and his men are protecting her but she ends up being taken by Ledger. When she is rescued she finds herself navigating through her feelings and new relationship with Ace and Rook but can’t stop the feelings developing for Ghost and Jack. But unexpected events occur and lead to more complicated situations. Then a bombshell cliffhanger. Holy smokes.

Camile's story continues from where book one, The Riders' Ruin, left off. Camile has been kidnapped, and her guys are desperate to find her. This why choose, reverse harem, dark romance takes some crazy twists and turns, and that cliffhanger ending is a big one. I can't wait to read the next book in the series to find out what happens next for Camile and the guys. Great storytelling and well developed characters make this a 5-star read. I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and man …I devoured it. I have loved every single Verona Falls book and this is no exception. It’s hard to choose the guy I like most but Ace and Ghost just do something for me. I love the story, the action and the way the guys take care of Camille. This author is on a must read automatically. I can’t wait for the next one.

This one was dark… we started where we left off in the first book and there was more and more fuckery happening… And we have marissa to thank for all the fuckery that was going on (or so rumours say).

I liked that we got to see more of the guys and them acknowledging (or trying to for some of them) their feelings. And i really need to know what happened at that hazing! And i wonder if we’ll get some MM action in the next book.

That cliffhanger as usual is absolutely diabolical and should be illegal, and i can’t wait what will happen in the next book!

Not impressed

I liked the direction the first book went and tried to hang on through this one but there was maybe 3 chapters total I liked about it. Camille annoyed me for most of this book and she was the character I liked the most in book 1. I will read book 3 to wrap it up but I'm very disappointed in putting the reading time into book 2.
