Stick Shift Daddy

Amoura Wright doesn’t know who I am.
She doesn’t care.
And that defiance just became my new obsession.

I walked into her garage expecting a business meeting.
Instead, a five-foot-five storm in grease-stained jeans verbally destroyed me before I could say my own name.

One fake date to shut up my family.
One red dress that should be illegal on her body.

Now the whole world thinks she’s mine, and I’m done pretending she isn’t.

I’ll fund her empire.
I’ll burn every enemy coming for her.
I’ll pin her against the hood of my car and show her exactly who she belongs to—slow, deep, and relentless.

?She built her world with her own two hands.
I’m about to wreck it in the best way possible.

Read on for possessive obsession, fake dating that turns real, a mouthy Black mechanic queen, and a man who’ll risk everything to keep what’s his. HEA guaranteed!

Their first encounter was electrifying. Amoura was having a bad day and when Rhys comes in for the meeting she takes him for another narcissist male and reads him good not knowing he was the potential investor. To make up for the encounter he suggests she attends a gala as his date, and it starts their path in this compelling story. Will the mechanic and F1 racer find their path to happiness.

Boss Lady ..Not

Amoura is a talented mechanical engineer who graduated from MIT with accolades and owns her own car garage business. In a male-dominated industry, she is constantly proving herself and refusing to let others define her knowledge in mechanical engineering or her character. Rhys enters as an investor wanting to help her business grow, but he brings his own challenges with his infamous Formula 1 reputation and status.

Overall, I enjoyed the premise and the supporting cast. The social media, paparazzi, and ex-girlfriend jealousy added plenty of drama and kept the story engaging ..BUT..

My biggest nit-pick is when authors build up a strong, confident heroine only to tear her down with self-doubt. Vulnerability adds depth, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of the character’s core personality. Amoura’s downward character shift changed how I experienced the rest of the story. I thought I was getting an inspiring story about a woman rising in a male-dominated industry, but her character became frustrating and ultimately disappointing for me.
