At twenty-three, Ella Ackerman thinks she has it all together. The interior design firm that she’s built from the ground up is thriving. She’s still dating Kyle, her high school sweetheart. She’s living in the greatest city in the world and has a great group of friends surrounding her. Everything seems to be going her way. Then Ella’s world is turned upside down when, out of the blue, Kyle dumps her.
Enter Cara, Ella’s best friend, who is determined to drag Ella—kicking and screaming if needed—out of the doldrums she’s fallen into after the break-up. When Cara convinces Ella to tag along one wild night to an underground fight scene, Ella soon finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Rescue comes in the form of blue eyes and rugged sex appeal.
Grayson Alexander is a millionaire by day and underground street fighter by night. After their chance meeting at the fight club, Grayson makes Ella a proposition that’s almost too irresistible to refuse—be the lead designer for his new, upscale restaurant. It’s the sort of job that could make or break Ella’s career. But as Ella is drawn more and more into Grayson’s dangerous world, she discovers the greatest risk is the one to her heart.
First time author does a great job of setting up the rest of the series with this novella! I love that there's a fight club element in here, because who doesn't love them some fight club??!? It's a cliffy but it just makes you want to pick up the next one to get some answers. There's a little grammar and spelling issue but it didn't take me too much out of the story.
I loved this book! I can't wait for the next book! D.K. Lawson knows how to keep sexual tension between the two main characters. I was hot and bothered.
Ella is dragged to an underground fight club by her best friend where she meets one of the fighters, Grayson, in embarrassing circumstances. She meets up with him again at a nightclub only to find out that he owns it, along with many other enterprises. Their sexual tension is palpable. He proposes a business arrangement - remodel his newest restaurant and pursue a sexual relationship. Ella is not the one-night-stand kind of girl, so she accepts the interior design job without the sex. Grayson respects her wishes until he sees Ella with another guy and he's obsessively jealous. Every chance he gets, he tries to seduce her. Will they finally give in to their attraction?
This was a short, HOT read that I loved! If you are into Alpha men going head to head with an alpha chick, this book is for you! I loved that our heroine was strong and independent but still not afraid to let her guard down just long enough to let her man slip past her defenses. The sex was hot! I would love to see the author write a book about her bestie! He was yummy!
It was very short; 58 pages, I think. It was just okay. It needs further editing. There are missing and repeated words and it flops back and forth between past and present tense. In the same sentence. Repeatedly.
The story itself feels like some woman's wet dream. Ella has recently broken up with her long term boyfriend and her friend Cara is trying to find her a rebound guy. Cara drags Ella to a "Fight Club" place one evening and Ella drools over one of the fighters, Grayson. Ella falls in the parking lot and Cara doesn't notice and keeps walking. Grayson helps her up and walks her to where Cara parked. And, it's insta-lust.
Grayson walks away, but then approaches her at a night club and asks her decorate one of his restaurants. He also tells her he intends to pursue her and she demures because she doesn't want to sleep with a business associate. So, Grayson knows her name. He knows what she does for a living. And he knows her cell phone number. He also knows where she lives. Despite the fact that she only introduced herself as "Ella" in the parking lot after the fight.
So, Grayson goes out with other women because he's a player and he's rich. He seems to actually follow Ella to a bar with his date one night. It's very odd. Creepy and stalkerish. I can't figure out why they like each other. Seems like just lust. Just, "Eh"...

This book had it all intrigue, passion and an intense plot line that drew you into the storyline. The vivid writing style just adds to the intensity of the plot and characters written by the author. Our hero Grayson is a typical Alpha male battling demons from his past in order to secure his future. Our heroine Ella has her own demons when it comes to love that she too must overcome in order for her to truly be free.
I have only 2 problems with this book. Problem number 1 - I read it as a standalone and well just don't. In order to truly appreciate D.K. Lawson' storytelling you need to read the first book in the series. I say this as I could tell reading fighting love that there was so much back story that I was missing. It didn't effect my enjoyment of the book or the quality of the writing but reading the previous book fighting attraction could only enhance my reading experience. Problem number 2 it just finishes so abruptly, leaving my hanging on a massive cliff hanger I need to know what happens next in Grayson and Ella's story.
What an incredible debut for Lawsan. Fighting Attraction was super sexy, action packed, and just plain fun. Grayson is quickly making his way to the top of my book boyfriend list. As for the other characters, they were very well developed and all extremely likable. Our leading lady Ella finds herself on the other end of being dumped when she meets the mysterious Grayson...from that moment on he consumes her every thought. Although she knows his reputation with women, and is determined not to wind up as his next conquest, she finds herself fighting the attraction she has for him. Just as things really get exciting...Lawsan leaves us longing for the next book.
