He came into my life in the most unconventional way, turning my world upside down when I least expected it. He was my dark knight amidst the chaos that was my life. His persistence in conquering me tested my resistance, and at one point, I thought I had prevailed. However, the immediate turn of events left me shocked and alone. He left me when I wasn’t ready to walk away. For months, I searched for him, stalking the internet for any news of him, hoping that one day I would get to see him again. Nevertheless, he was great at covering his tracks, and I was left resorting to tactics I hadn’t considered before. I simply wanted another chance. He had wanted me once. He could want me again, couldn’t he? He left a gaping hole in my life, and I knew nothing could ever fix it, except him. I was will-ing to put myself out there for him to relish, criticize, and devour at his will. The heart wants what it wants, and it wanted Hugo Xavier.

If the first book in this series was a bit slow-moving, 'Unhinged' certainly made up for it. From the first page to the last, I was completely taken with this story. There was never a dull moment. This book put me through the ringer over and over again.
Reading this story was painful. It was heart-breaking. It was infuriating. It was sexy as hell and also emotionally devastating. I could not pull myself away, even as Isobel and Hugo engaged in some incredibly hurtful and cruel behavior toward one another.
There were so many times when I pitied Isobel and despised Hugo. Some of the things he said and did to hurt her were just unforgivable. All the while, I felt conflicted because she did betray their agreement and wounded him deeply.
At the same time, I felt frustrated with Hugo's inability or unwillingness to see his hypocrisy. After all, he continued his promiscuous lifestyle during their time together and didn't miss a beat afterward either. Yet, any time she so much as talks with another male, he gets all crazy and possessive. Turnabout is fair play in my book.
If you're a sucker like me and love the angsty stories that rip your heart out, this is a fantastic story. There is plenty of turmoil and conflict to keep your head spinning. This pair has passion in spades, with just as much stubbornness. I spent a lot of time fighting back my tears as these two tore each other to shreds...and I loved every minute!
Like the first book, this one does have a fair amount of editing oversights. Luckily, they didn't detract much from the book. However, it is surprising to me to find so many errors in a book by such a well-known author. I'm more forgiving of this when it is a debut author, etc.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this forbidden love story. This definitely isn't your conventional, feel-good romance, but it had me staying up late into the night to read just a little bit more. It completely shredded my heart, but I loved it. If you're a masochist like me when it comes to your books, this one will deliver. Be prepared to feel with this one.
My usual rant and spoilers, when I just can't hold it the fury, to follow:
I just don't know what to say about this. She misses Hugo and is obsessed with him. He is fucking all other women and she is not having sex with her boyfriend. She and Damon take a break and she runs into Hugo and Begs him for a few minutes. He begrudgingly tells her to come over where he says if she wants him she has to have a three way with another women. Then he proceeds to fuck this other women IN FRONT OF HER. She goes to leave but ends up having sex with him in the bathroom (WTF is wrong with you, stupid desperate moron). She tells him she loves him and he calls her names. Then she stays the night, the next day they part for good.... Until she sees him again at a party she goes to with HIS BEST FREIND. He takes her out of there and they have sex. He also calls her a whore and a lying cunt at some point. Yup, mr. Romance. Then later they get together for a romantic weekend which is supposed to be the 'last' but at the end she wants one more night. Guess what? Yup, he fucks the other woman AGAIN and of course RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER. She is starting to accept this and says she is okay with sharing him with other women if he needs it. Puke. Most pathetic, spineless heroine I have read in a while. Horrible self esteem, no dignity whatsoever. I mean how can you respect someone like that??? And HIM! Omg, what a POS. Seriously? He has feelings for her? Cares about her? I don't care what your lifestyle was before, you don't fuck other women in front of her. Even though she accepts it because of her love for him she doesn't want it. It's uncomfortable reading about it. You would think he would change but no! He keeps these women in all his homes apparently. I was so disgusted with all these characters. I will say the writing was good, the overall plot with the father and the flowers at the end and the mystery of the story is what draws you back in. Having said that, the heroine is so weak and pathetic and the 'hero' is a fucking pig and a scumbag. 3 stars for the writing
He screwed another women while she was watching...and she went ahead and reenacted the same...that's madness!!! I also have an issue with Isobel's two separate lives...that one with Hugo and that with her family. It's like two different lives and not connected. I mean...she leaves Athens and switches on like a light bulb to a sex siren...arghhh...am pulling my hair here someone make me understand!!! Finally I remember in the first book they were supposed to have met well before in London....I though this second book will unravel this mystery but zero...nothing.!! Plus there was entirely too much sex in this book....it tended to skim through it. I will definitely read the third book and hopefully get answers to my questions.

Damn you back and forth bullshit! Damn you even more because I love how you keep me on my toes and make me want to rip my hair out. I'm always rolling my eyes and wanting to throw my kindle against the wall! But I have to have more. Yes, gimme. Gimme. Gimme.
What kind of danger is Isobel in? Is Louise really dead or is she stalking Iso to lay claim on Hugo once and for all? Is it one of his other lady lovers getting overly possessive, trying to eliminate competition to have Hugo all for herself? Whatever it is, I want to know soon. So please Pamela Ann, don't keep us waiting long.
Second chances are rare and when extended the proverbial olive branch, one should grasp it with both hands and not screw it up...a concept that Isobel is sorely unfamiliar with in her young years. There is definitely a thin line between love and hate and Hugo is completely caught up in Isobel's line. Hugo's cryptic reasons for pushing Isobel away besides her betrayal just don't add up. Hugo is supposedly all powerful, wealthy and wanted but can't protect himself and Isobel from whatever darkness awaits them if they stay together? I just don't buy it! Something's gotta give as this short trilogy is about to come to an end.
ANOTHER BOOK I LOVE TO HATE BUT HATE TO LOVE ... ISOBEL FRUSTRATES ME BECAUSE SHES WEAK WHEN IT COMES TO HUGO. EVEN WHEN HE FLAUNTS WOMEN IN FRONT OF HER & HAS SEX WITH THEM SHE TURNS TO MUSH ... THIS BOOK GIVES A BIT OF INSIGHT TO THE RICH PLAYBOY LIFESTYLE & AS MUCH AS I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SHAKE SOME SENSE IN BOTH CHARACTERS, THE ENDING HAS ME STARVED WITH WANTING MORE ... GRRRRRR. STILL LOVED THE BOOK
This is the continuation of Isobel and the notorious playboy Hugo Xavier roller coaster romance tale. Isobel had ultimately betrayed Hugo and now is left to face the consequences. Hugo has a hard time forgiving and forgetting especially when the same problem keeps showing up. Great follow-up to first book. Eagerly anticipating the final book.
Unhinged is book two in The Encounter Trilogy. This book starts off where book one leaves us. The story continues with hot scenes and edge of your seat what's going to happen next!! The book leaves you on a cliffhanger waiting for book #3. I can't wait for more!!
I'm hooked on this series and I do like paying a lot of money for so small a book. But this plot has me stuck and I have to get to the end. I'm pretty sure I know who is after Isobel but I need the whole story. Anyway love the books and I don't like giving the story away. So just order and read it will be worth it.
I devoured this second book in the Encounter Trilogy by Pamela Ann. As I said after I read the first book, she was a new author to me but I have quickly fallen madly in love with her beautiful prose and she is now in my favorites list and a one-click for me! I plowed thru this book like no body's business and have already downloaded the 3rd book, Vanquished. I am hoping that Hugo and Isobel will get their HEA because they have had to go thru a lot of trials and tribulations. My heart has broken 💔 for them several times. I love the dual POVs, especially when we get to see what Hugo is thinking. Sometimes he comes across so harsh, it's nice to know what his thoughts are. And they can be so sweet. But the mystery is building up at the end of this book, and it leaves you wanting answers. Definitely more than 5 stars if I could give more!!!
Will Isobel get the ending she wants? Sometimes love doesn't seem to be enough. I'm afraid you will have to read the last book to find out. All I can say is that this second book of the series still kept me engrossed. Trying hard not to read the end of book three to find out what happens!
Once again the chemistry between Hugo and Isobel were off the charts hot. It’s truly upsetting to read how well they get along yet see that he feels there’s no way they could be together. Of course the bigger question is who could’ve sent the flowers, and was it related to Hugo’s ex-lover?
After being let go by Hugo, Isobel, realizes it's Hugo she's in love with and wants. Still in a relationship with her boyfriend of 4 years, Isobel has resorted to cyber stalking Hugo, just to see what he's doing. Isobel has a reality check when she sees Hugo in London, and the fireworks were unleashed. Isobel, tells Hugo that she loves him as Hugo tries to deny his feelings for her. They give themselves one night of no sex, just cuddling and talking. At the end things are still left unsaid, but it's clear that they need to move forward without each other. Can Isobel move on? Will Isobel father try to sell her again to someone else? Will Hugo let her move on? Will Hugo let go of the past and try to love again? Will Hugo past secrets haunt him forever? Read Unhinged to find out!!!
Sordid and trashy with Neither main character likable.
Hugo - immoral filthy repulsive irredeemable sleaze who doesn't deserve any woman.
Isobel - pathetic loser, constantly belittling and humiliating herself by allowing Mr Scumbag to sleep around with multiple females (including 3somes with her there too, just because she would do anything for him (vomit).
Hopefully Hugo gets blown up in the last book, he is one of the most unredeemable, unlikable, sordid male characters I have ever had the misfortune to read.
This book lacks depth of characters and story line. It is boring and is lacking excitement. Pamela Ann has been one of my favorite authors but her recent novels have been nothing but a disappointment and waste of money.
A little upset by this, I thought perhaps we'd get an inkling of the ex story but no, a tease, an annoying tease!!!!!!!! grrrrrrrrawwwwrrrrr... otherwise it was a good book, I just wished for more
