What Darkness Demands #1

What the Blood Takes

One bite saved my life. Now the vampire who gave it to me refuses to let me go.

I should have died in that rain-soaked alley.

Instead, I wake inside a guarded estate with a silver scar on my throat, a stranger’s blood in my veins, and an invisible tether pulling me toward the most dangerous man I have ever met.

Ezekiel Deveraux is an ancient vampire with flawless control and enough power to make monsters fear the dark. He claims the bite was the only way to save me. He claims keeping me close is the only way to protect me.

But every locked door and silent guard says the same thing.

I am not his guest. I am his captive.

The bond between us punishes distance with agony and rewards his touch with a hunger I cannot trust. The farther I run, the harder my body fights to return to him. The closer I get, the less certain I am where the bond ends and my own desire begins.

Outside Ezekiel’s walls, the vampire who left me for dead is hunting the only mortal who escaped him. Inside, my protector watches me with a restraint that feels more dangerous than hunger.

To survive, I need the vampire who stole my freedom.

To escape, I may have to sever a bond that could destroy us both.

And if Ezekiel has his way, I will never leave his side.

A dark vampire paranormal romance featuring a possessive immortal protector, forced proximity, a life-saving bite, blood-bond obsession, dangerous desire, and an open-door romance.

Less than expected

The premise of this series seemed so interesting but fell far short of that line. Repetitive descriptions (word for word), relevant backstory completely skipped over (Callie somehow magically knows who Jareth is in the library after only being there for 1 day), and while the world building was interesting, there was not enough information to make any sense of the story. I, unfortunately, had to add this to my DNF list. So disappointed.

I couldn't finish it

It didn't have any character development and she is so stubborn and preferred to believe the vamp who tried to killed her over Ezekiel, and the other characters are never around. I have too much expectations on this I guess
