Ben Ami Eliahu enjoys a life that was both hard earned and well deserved. The path that brought him here, well, it was an interesting one to say the least.
Born to parents of Indian origin, Ben Ami grew to be an intelligent child and attended schools for gifted children. However, like many smart young adults, his intelligence was perhaps better suited outside of a schoolhouse and during his 10th grade year he made the decision to drop out of highschool. He served his 3 years of compulsory service in the Israeli military and before leaving to explore the world.
Over the course of 4 years, Ben Ami worked and travelled his way across Jordan, Egypt, Japan, India, Holland, Canada, the U.S. and many other countries. He eventually returned home but left for the great city of Tel-Aviv shortly thereafter. It was here that he really began to invest his time and energy in his writing, inspiration coming from what he observed during his daily life.
Eventually, Ben Ami became a programmer, a job that changed his life. And not because he was great at what he did. In fact, he was a terrible programmer. But it did lead him to discover that he was an excellent manager and so he began his climb up the corporate ladder. A few years and some promotions later, Ben Ami found himself suffocated and unhappy with the office life.
What’d he do? What anyone else would do! He packed up and moved to a forest cabin in India. It was here in this cabin that Snowflake River: A Voyage Into the Great Spirit was brought to life.
Ben Ami Eliahu has since returned home to run his family’s vineyard. When he’s not adoring his wife (his self proclaimed key to a happy marriage), or spending time with his two daughters and cowardly dog, you can usually find him up before the sun, writing and working on the next story.

The story begins with Minister of Health Hadassa Samter confidentially investigating the Body Cooling Phenomenon outbreak.
In the next chapter, readers meet tenth grader Omer Lemm in the principal’s office, called to task for failing exams.
“The principal’s voice echoed through the office.
‘Aspire! You should aspire to be the best! To succeed! To excel…’
She fell silent. It seemed as though she wanted to continue, but something made her change her mind and jot something down in her notebook.”
Instantaneously readers will connect to Omer. Together with his classmate Noa, his teacher Joel Kramer, and Kramer’s former instructor, Professor Peretez, Omer becomes the unlikely protagonist in this fantasy story that speaks volumes about our world with its conflicting good and evil.
The author constructs the story on many levels, with excellent characterizations, realistic dialogue, and a plot that holds credible as it explores a different dimensional world. The writing style is both exploratory and poetic, adding so much to reader enjoyment.
Readers will find themselves alongside Omer caring about him, worrying about him, as they root for him every step of the way until the story’s conclusion. This book expands readers’ imagination, bringing them along a unique journey, while giving them much to ponder when they read the very last words, making it one that will stay with them.

Snowflake River begins with a Minister of Health investigating Body Cooling Phenomenon (BCP), a deadly disease marked by a decline in body temperature plus hallucinations, a compulsion to buy, buy, buy, and eventual death. The affected population? Mostly young people in financially powerful countries.
The heroes? Two teenagers who are assigned a school project that takes them on an out-of-this-world adventure to find the cause of BCP. It’s inspiring that the teens are the ones to take on the corruption and greed in the world and learn how things mysteriously interconnect.
The villain? The evil corporate power who is raping the spiritual realm of “spiritglow,” causing harm to the Great Spirit, using this powerful force in commercials to make those watching TV become dramatically attached to the object shown. But this misuse of “spiritglow” also causes BCP and may lead to the destruction of humanity.
Aided by professors, the two teens, neurotic, fearful Omer (who has contracted BCP) and Noa, a disabled but striking, red-headed girl, unravel the secrets of an ancient tablet engraved with a symbol of spiral lines that leads to the source of all consciousness. Omer bravely risks his life, entering an alternate universe to battle those stealing “spiritglow,” descending into a river of collective awareness and “snowflakes” that are memories of all of existence. Through the loving aid of ancient nature spirits and Noa, he survives and returns to a better world.
The story has many fantastical elements and will be a page-turner for anyone into science fiction or the metaphysical.
Spellbinding fiction with a message – a warning and a glimmer of hope in a time when power, money and technology are at odds with the survival of humanity.
In Snowflake River, a deadly and mysterious illness has been hitting across the world, mostly in prosperous nations affecting their young with strange body temperature dropping conditions. In the story, mysterious people are researching the disease, but two young kids seem to stumble upon a strange place that could lead to information on just what is affecting the planet.
The kids, Omer and Noa were my favorite part of the story, with Noa’s fearlessness and sense of adventure keeping Omer going strong throughout their adventure. The story is intriguing and the budding friendship of Omer and Noa makes it that much more interesting to explore.

The Great Spirit – the common spirit of all humankind – is in danger. It is bleeding. And the consequences can already be felt: a strange, ominous, body-cooling phenomenon is spreading throughout the world, causing a significant decrease in people’s body temperatures.
Snowflake River is a lovely take on the struggle between good and evil. I enjoyed the easy flow of the book. However, the writing, at times, felt somewhat elementary and unnecessarily detailed. The characters made the story for me. I found myself more involved in what each person thought, felt and did because each felt so real to me. The story made me think about the things we do when we're searching for answers.

Sensitively written, I enjoyed this book immensely. As the Great Spirit bleeds, so do people. This book touches on the destruction of nature and our huge part in it. Greed and the almighty dollar play a part in it too.
