thank you to the author for sending me a gifted copy! I really enjoyed this story!
If Squid Games and The Hunger Games had a baby it would be this book. I thought the trials were very unique and well thought out, designed with the sole intention of pushing people past their limits and asking what they are willing to do to survive. I think this book makes people confront some ugly truths about life and survival, while also questioning how much autonomy we truly have.
My one qualm with this book is that the main character is a little hard to route for. I do think that was the intention, she is mechanical, meticulous, and very intelligent; at times she even lacked basic empathy or emotion. I think that was a choice and definitely intentional, but it does make it hard to route for her.
Overall though I loved this book, a very fun and quick read that makes you a little uneasy!
This book completely pulled me in from the beginning. The world is dark, intense, and unsettling in the best possible way, and there are so many layers to the story that I already feel like a reread would make me notice things I missed the first time.
What really stood out to me were the trials. They were creative, brutal, unpredictable, and genuinely had me wondering what was going to happen next. There’s this constant tension running through the story that makes it incredibly hard to put down.
If you love dystopian stories like The Hunger Games, Maze Runner, Divergent or Squid Game, this absolutely needs to be on your list. It has that same dangerous, survival-driven energy, but there is so much more happening underneath the surface. The darker themes, deeper meaning, emotional moments, and feminine rage gave the story so much weight.
It’s twisted. It’s immersive. It’s entertaining as hell. And just when you think you understand what kind of story you’re reading, it gives you another layer to think about.
Side note from getting an ARC copy, I died in trial one ☹️
Such an addictive dystopian thriller and easily a five-star read for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Final Inheritance by Aubrey Velasquez delivers an intriguing, high-stakes premise that blends the ruthless competition of Squid Game with the survival-driven tension of The Hunger Games. I really enjoyed the concept and the opportunity to watch the characters navigate such a cutthroat environment. The pacing is slower than I expected for a story built around this kind of premise, but it does give readers time to evaluate each character, question their motives, and search for breadcrumbs about where the story is heading. Unfortunately, that slower pace also made it easier for me to predict some of the final outcomes. In any follow-up books, I would love to see the story move a little faster, since that would add even more urgency and tension to the competition. I absolutely loved the character Anastasia. As someone who loves the female-rage trope, I was thrilled to see her more ruthless, cutthroat side emerge. I definitely hope we get to see even more of that energy from her in the future. Overall, The Final Inheritance is a compelling read with a strong premise, memorable characters, and plenty of potential for the series to build on. A solid 4 star read.
Okayyy dystopian readers — put this one on your radar. The Final Inheritance drops us into a brutal system where survival is everything, control can be the difference between life and death, and the stakes just keep getting higher. What really worked for me was the concept. I am such a sucker for a dystopian story that throws its characters into an impossible situation and basically says, figure out how badly you want to survive. The trials, the danger and that constant feeling that something could go wrong kept me wanting to know what was coming next. I also really enjoyed the darker atmosphere. There’s tension, violence, emotion, morally questionable choices and even a little spice mixed into all that chaos. It definitely has that “who can I trust and what is this system hiding?” feeling that I love in dystopian books. If you like deadly trials, corrupt systems, survival stories, high stakes and dystopian books with a little spice — add this one to your TBR.
I received an advance copy of The Final Inheritance in a beautiful PR box. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I absolutely loved this book! It kept me on my toes the entire time, and I honestly could not put it down. The story is filled with power, survival, control, desperation, manipulation, sacrifice, greed, corruption, and strategy.
The tension continued to build as the stakes became higher. I never knew what might happen next or how far someone would be willing to go when everything was on the line. I especially loved how the story made me question what winning truly means when every possible outcome comes with a cost.
This was intense, unsettling, suspenseful, and thought-provoking. It held my attention from beginning to end and left me thinking about the story long after I finished. And knowing this is only the first book in a trilogy makes me even more excited for what comes next!
Advanced Copy Reader Review! This book had me marking and following breadcrumbs like crazy! I don't think I can put into words how impressively written this book is. The plot is rich with information for you to absorb yourself in and get lost in the details. It's one of those books you can read more than once and see more within it. It's immersive in all five senses. If you like Hunger Games, Battle Royal, Squid Games, or Dungeon Crawler Carl, I highly suggest you pick this book up. It's so good and is such a dark and entertaining read with a deep and rich meaning mixed with some feminine rage. It truly is more than it seems and has some of the most intriguing trials I've ever read in a book. 100000/10 stars! So good!
I got this as an arc and im so blessed i did!!!!!! If I could give it 100 stars i would!!! This is the greatest edge of your seat, nail biting, what the heck is about to happen book i have read in my life. To me it was better then a McFadden, Hoover shoot even a Patterson book!!! Ana is a beast!!! This book had so many twist and turns its insane. A lot of what are you going to do, how would you react, I was questioning myself so many times on if I would have done the same thing truly. Its a dystopian thriller that truly makes you think!!!
If you're looking for a book similar to hunger games, then this is the book for you. The amount of twists in this book will keep you intrigued and wanting more. I took my time and read this because I didnt want to miss anything important. The last 20 pages left me completely speechless but not entirely shocked. I loved the way Ana played the game and knew how to win. She went into the trials knowing what she wanted & took it. I will be patiently waiting for book 2.

I received an advanced copy from the author Pros: At no point did I know where this book was going. Took me a few to get into it but once I was I was locked in. I finished it in one day. Once everything got going I couldn't stop and the ending you'll never guess. Even me who is always trying to figure out a book I never would have guessed. I will definitely be looking for the second book. Cons: slow start and low spice
Still thinking about the rating, may be closer to 4.5 stars. If thrilling games and trials are something you like, add this one to your tbr!! A game put on by the rich, played by those who can't afford to pay their debts!! The trials were different and played out well!! This one made you question yourself on what you would be capable of doing if you had signed up for the Order of Inheritance!
4.5 ⭐ this book was amazing everything I did not know I needed to read. It was a little slow at first but once you got too the first trial you started getting hooked and unable to put it down finished in one day!
some of the twists you has no idea where coming!! I can not wait to see how it continues on in the next book.
Are you a dystopian reader if you are this is one read you won’t want to pass by. Do you like the hunger games, squid game, seeing people thrown into a trail where they have to figure how to survive on their own. I’m telling you you are not gonna want to pass on this. Aubrey knows how to grab a hold of her readers. Comes out end of September you definitely want this in your tbr.
