Diamond is not your typical teen. Instead of attending house parties, dating boys, and enjoying her teen years, she is forced to take care of her little sister Kay. With the help of her best friend Bobby, she turns to the streets and began to sell drugs as her source of income. Being Bobby's right hand man means that she has to bottle all the feeling she has for him and watch him love another woman the way she wished to be love.
Zoe was the man on the block when his father Gustave ran the East. When Gustave is murdered by Bobby's uncle, Zoe is deported back to his parent's country, Haiti, to serve a prison sentence for drug and trafficking. Five years later, Zoe returns to the East to claim territory that is rightfully his. In the midst of running his father's empire, Diamond steals his heart. There is only one problem, she is affiliated with the enemy.
In this modern day Romeo and Juliet hood love story, will love conquer all, or will it cause a war?
Cool read, didn't wrap me enough to read part 2 or 3 but overall nice read. I think when it went down with Bobby I tapped out because I knew what was to follow and it happened exactly like I thought.
Omg!!!!!!!! Book 2 where u at!!!????? When I say this book was everything, it was EVERYTHING!!! JUICY, JUICY, JUICY!!!!! Lucinda John, I see u girl!!!!! LOL! Don't keep us waiting too long!
Lord Lucinda just gave me heart attack why did she end that book like that. I felt So bad for Diamonds but I love how she took care of her little sister. I love me some Zoe and hope that him and Diamond work out there difference.
Diamond came out the gate having issue after issue, you really wanted her to win along with her sister. Bobby seemed like a nice guy but just not right for her, he seemed too messy and sneaky to really be with her even though he was looking out for her. The two needed to keep it on a friend’s level. Zoe I wanted to not like him from the jump. He came off as heartless and no good to the bone, I think he was too focused on following in his father’s footsteps to see a brighter picture. When they started their relationship I thought for sure it would be over but was hoping she didn’t fall for the bull at the very least.
She had too much history with Bobby to deal with Zoe with the issues the two had. The ending is frustrating because I’m really hoping all of them fall. Who meets up like that anyway? But still it was silly to even get to that point. Of course I’ll read the series out because I just can’t stop with the first one of any series unless it’s just plain old ridiculous but this one is actually not that bad. At times it’s boring but you still want to read what’s going on with Diamond and how she develops.
Diamond (DeeDee) wasn't your typical prissy teenage girl. Instead, she was bleeding the block with the best of them to make things happen for her and her younger sister. Diamond handled her responsibilities as a older sister with ease until tragedy struck, leaving her family shattered. With everything that going on in Diamond's life she managed to find her self trading her cargos, her manly ways and her blocks for a chance at love not once but twice.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Lucinda really did her thing as always. Although it felt like it was too short, it was entertaining. I sat and read it in one setting. I was on pins and needles reading the last few pages and they have me amped for part two. Great Job!
This book was addictive from the first page a heavy page turner with everything I love in a good book. This author did an amazing job at painting the story crystal clear !
This was actually a real good read. There were a few grammatical errors but it didn't take away from the flow of the story too much. Poor Diamond's life was hell. I was all for Bobby until Zoe showed up in the picture. I really think that Zoe is a better match for her than Bobby. Bobby was playing too many games and never really acted on his true feelings until another man came into the picture. I hope part two won't be too long of a wait because I'm anxious to see how everything plays out.
She did it again. Lucinda never disappoints. Once again she gave us a read with just enough, but not too much drama. This book had a nice flow to it. There were a few mistakes but A very good read nonetheless.
Ok this was ok good... Too much hardcore anot enough praising on the female population, but it was ok
This was actual a good intro and a good start, but man why, oh why must you not have these females to be better role models than what they are now? Why? Diamond started it out so good with so much promises then it went downhill from there. Why must she go bed hopping on two men and act so dumb, and so childish and so lame? Zoe man you did good until you got loose with your hands. I mean in one part you are praising that having a mom prevents you from putting hands, yet you go ahead and do this, come on? Why when you are bae and boss man ? Now Bobby what exactly are you doing? What is your purpose and your point? With Cray you kind of didn't want The bean but with Diamond you are kind of claiming stuff already, why? Why not let Diamond go? This is my 2nd series from this author and my goodness, I don't know if I am going to continue because once again instead of empowering smart, intelligent, independent strong black woman you are actually doing the degrading stuff on them, why? Why have them be these washy washy type of female, bed hopping, dam the consequences, immature, selfish, and stupid women? Why do us like that? Then you have strong bae King mans involved but they are also lame and not worthy of any queen as they are not there to elevate them, but to drop them on the floor. Man this is so messed up and it's killing me to push thru...maybe I should look into another book with more positiveness in it. Let's what's next!!!
First of all I love how you rep for your culture no matter what book your writing you let it be knew Zoe pound. I need to take that same initiative. I’m mad at Bobby’s mom for kicking Diamond out. I still want Diamond to beat both Cookie and Brooklyn’s ass. I wish it had more with Diamonds and her little sister. I feel Pete is Diamond’s father. Love triangle hmm let’s see what happens.
Zoe ain’t boyfriend material like I thought he would be. I can’t rock with the way he moves. There was something I couldn’t quite put my finger on that I didn’t like about him, but after he hit Diamond…that was it.it was a wrap. He’s on my shit list then at the end of the book. lol yeaaa….fuck him! Bobby ass ain’t man enough to move the way he so call feels so his punk ass can kick rocks too. 🙄 can’t wait to see if these mofos gonna redeem themselves in book 2
Ok story. Lots of grammatical errors and misplaced words and sentences. And there were a lot of details added that didn't need to be because the author didn't know what she was talking about. For example, she said someone had on white Gucci red bottoms. Gucci does not have red bottoms. Red bottoms are Christian Louboutin shoes.
I love diamond. I just wish Bobby was an afterthought. Not to the point that she wasn’t riding for him because their friendship was a long one. But to the point where he had no pull on who she decided to be with. He’s just like any other man who can’t see what a diamond they have until someone else is rocking it and making it shine. Dope read as always lu 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Neither Bobby are Zoe have Diamond’s best interest at heart. Bobby got a whole pregnant gf at home & Zoe just left Jojo’s bed. I’m so mad at Bobby. He seen how mad Diamond was when Tommy aired out Cookie for their sexual encounter, so why would Booby turn around & do the same to Diamond. So ready for book 2!
Another good read by Lucinda John! This was so good. I loved how Diamond was holding it down for her and lil sis Kay. Bobby looked out for her. They got a strong connection that Zoe can't break. Question is who's baby is it??????
I love Diamond’s character. I read through this book so fast, now I’m itching to see how everything plays out. I need to know who the father of Diamond’s baby, and if Bobby died.
This book was so good. At first I wanted Diamond and Bobby to get together then Zoe came along, and I loved it. Then Zoe messed up and Bobby swooped in... but he’s never going to leave Cray. Diamond deserves a man who is for her and her alone. Will she get it??? We will see in part 2.
NOOOOOOO Imma need you to come up off book 2!! Zoe is bae Diamond needs him good grief!! I am upset she got herself hemmed up like this when is Capt Pete her real father???? Book 2 me please
This is 100% not my type of book. However, I was immediately drawn in from the first page. It's a 'hood' story with sex, drugs, and guns, but the storyline is great! The authors style of writing is very clear and easy to digest, which really brings the story to life.
This was a good start. I feel like Diamond keeps getting the short end of the stick. Putting her trust in Bobby I think is the wrong move. I’m team Zoe all the way.
Bobby is a fuck boy.. shoot Zoe is too! I don't know who either of them think they are but they need to get it together! Tommy was mad corny and corny niggas never last! Diamond was so hard up because of the damage that was caused by her parents and now she out here lost! About to read part 2
Dang...That Haitian Love is powerful and very raw. Zoe is a murdered drug kingpin's son and loyal to the street code. Along comes an American girl that catches his eye and really opens his heart to love. And Bobby wants more than a friendship with Diamond, while chasing the next female in the city. It was Interesting to read about these characters fighting to be top dog of the Florida streets. Good storyline but I rate this 3 *** because of the spelling errors and words were dropped from sentences.
This was a good read despite a couple of name errors (referring to Zoe as Bobby). I'm so confused as to what I want to happen in part 2. I love Diamond for the rider that she is...However, she's so naive when it comes to Bobby. I feel like he keeps giving her false hope. Some on the other hand I really like him for Diamond. I just didn't like how he put his hands on her. Hopefully everything will work out for her and Zoe in part 2 because I don't trust Bobby's ass at all.
