Damaged Love & Forever Bound
All Kayla has ever wanted is to feel loved. She has lived her life with the Stantons, feeling scared and unwanted. She has always wondered about her birth parents. How could they have given her up? Should she search for them? If she found them, would she be able to forgive them? Senator Seth Stanton’s image portrayed his love for his family. He has the perfect life—a loving wife, twin sons, and an adopted daughter. What more could he ask for? His life isn’t what it seems, and soon what should have stayed behind closed doors comes bursting through. His family is falling apart, and it’s all his fault. With the help of Dr. Patrice Doyle, Kayla has managed to cope with her demons. Dr. Doyle knows she has her work cut out for her, and she can see there is something special about this young lady who was once so broken. Can Dr. Doyle help convince Kayla she is more than damaged goods? With suicide, weddings, and new discoveries in the picture, will Kayla be able to heal? Or will she be forever damaged?
I am 36 years old I am blessed to be the mom of a little girl named Sage who is the light of my life. {I call her Olga, and she hates it} I did not give birth to her but I choose her. I am blessed with great friends who have always had my back. I have a lot to learn in this world of writing but, so far I am enjoying the ride. I am always willing to help out anyone who is in need all you have to do is ask.
I received a copy in exchanged for an honest opinion. This does not influence my opinion in any shape or form.
Although I did not enjoy Broken Love and Forever Bound I went ahead and decided to continue the series. I continued in hopes that the series would get better unfortunately at the end of the book I came to the conclusion that I will not continue the series.
Our Story I honestly think Layla has some amazing ideas when it comes to writing a book. The little twists and turns she threw in were good but the execution just didn’t work out.
I think Broken Love and Forever Bound was a much better because it seemed thought out whereas Damaged Love felt a bit over the place.
I did enjoy how Layla started off the story right where the first one ended and then continued to develop the story. I thought this was awesome because you really do need to read the first book in order to fully understand what is going on in the second book.
Like I mentioned, there are twists and turns in the story that I did not see coming. I thought they helped the story a long. It was interesting to see them play out but again it felt a little rushed. If the story had been a little longer then this definitely would have been a 4 even 5 star read for me.
Our Characters Kayla this time around felt even more immature then the first book. I could not connect with her other then to feel sympathy for everything that she had been through. But to say I connected with her and felt her pain I cannot say I did.
This time around the supporting characters just didn’t work for me. I felt like they just became immature during the second book. I just didn’t like any of them. It was a shame because in the first book I actually did like them.
Overall Again, I am not bashing Layla I think she has some amazing ideas. They are very unique and I think as Layla grows as writer she will be amazing. I won’t be continuing this series but I will be on the look for some of Layla’s work. I see her potential as an author. But this series is not for me.
Hot damn! Waited patiently for this and Ms Stevens did not let me down. Kayla Ashbee stayed with me for a long time after I read Broken Love and Forever Bound, the first in the Bound series and Damaged love is no different. Kayla has been through the mill in her life, abused and violated by those who were supposed to love and protect her she is a survivor. I loved Garrett and Kaya's relationship and it's even better in book 2. Kayla must decide if she is going to let the past dictate her future or can she be brave enough to let it go and embrace her life and love? Layla Stevens is a favourite of mine. She is a brave writer who takes risks and doesn't shy away from conflict and real pain. I cannot wait for Viv and Wyatt in Book3. If you haven't read book one then go and read that first you need to know why Kayla acts the ways she does out of self protection. Ugh, want to read book 3 right now wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I received a copy of this from the author in exchange for an honest review
5 stars!!
This book is dark and emotional and goes into great detail about rape, abuse of all kinds.
This book continues off right where book 1 left off.
Layla is in the hospital after an explosion.
This book we find out more about Layla, who she is, what she has been up to the 7 years she was gone. Things are not easy for her or Garrett (the boy she has always loved) for her friends. She finds out who her mom is, finds out who her father is. Can she move on and be happy with everything she finds out, She is still fighting for her happy ever after and her life.
Can she forgive those that hurt and lied to her? I say read this series if you like dark, emotional, tense books. This book has it all, Drama, Suspense, lies and deceit, love. It was a great book. I look forward to reading more of the characters in this series.
This book starts where book 1 left off. Kayla still fighting to get past what has happened to her in the past, fighting to hang on to love, trying to develop some sense of family. This book does not disappoint in the "WOW" factor and keeps you flipping the pages to find out what happens next and if Kayla is doomed or will finally get her happily ever after. I don't want to give to much of the story line away, but this book develops the characters further, has several twists and turns and is well written. Also my only complaint of book 1 was the editing, however in book 2 the editing is much better. Kudos to Layla Stevens for writing an excellent book full of love, heart ache, mystery, and deceit.
Picks up right where book one left off. So you have to read book 1 first. OMG LAYLA with all that she puts the characters through in book one she does more in book 2. Kayla gets answers she has been looking for all her life. Does she like the answers she got or does she regret that she found them? Does Kayla finally get to find peace with her past? Does she get even with it? Can she find love and happiness after everything she has ever been through? Layla parts of the book I know I had figured out that got answered in book 2 I still had stuff thrown at me that blew me away. I found Damaged Love faster paced and so much going on that I got sucked right in and couldn't put it down and before I knew it I was done. Great great read.
This book continues where book 1 left off with Kayla fighting to overcome her past and fighting to keep love in her life. I read this book in a very short time and was not disappointed. this book is just amazing. It keeps you wanting to read and read and for the story to never end. Is Kayla's past bound to keep interfering with her future or will she get her Happy Ever After? This book is a must read with plenty of twists and turns.
WOW! ... Yes, I am at complete loss of words. Just wow!
This is my first book by Layla Stevens. Damaged Love is book #2 in the series, but I did not realized it until I had already started it. I read it as a stand alone and felt that I had no issues following the story line at all. There was a moment or two that I longed for more back ground info, but that is when I realized that those characters must have been better covered in the first book (which I plan to buy and read soon).
Where to start... This book was deep, dark and bad A. Just saying. The main female character has a very dark past. Raised by monsters after being put up for adoption at birth, her siblings do things that are unthinkable. Surrounded by darkness and despair, she is forced to face her personal demons and also forced to fight back against the real life monsters that have consumed her entire being. Despite it all, she finds EVERYTHING she had ever asked for. She finds herself loved and cherished most of all. Something that she has never in her entire life known.
This is her story, her story of survival, her fight for life and those who step up to take her side.
I really really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it! Warning: It's not for the faint of heart!
This is one amazing story of fighting back and overcoming any obstacle in your way. She is fighting for what is right.
Some of the things she does are wrong but for her it is her only hope of getting her life back. She makes the best decision for her self.
It is never okay to be abused. Rape can be done by any one. We see different kinds in this book. Abuse is more then physical it is mental as well. Every-time it is done it takes a little more of that persons sole.
I love this SERIES because the author has you walk threw her shoes in the stories. You feel as if it is happening to you. I am a survivor of rape and physical and mental abuse and I take courage from these stories.
It is never okay to be treated wrong and when you get away and get your life together you have to confront your demons to fully move on. Each person reacts differently but you get courage from her story.
You see she has have hope and faith. She has a great support system. She has the courage not to take it anymore.
Thank you for this amazing story of courage and perseverance.
I enjoyed this section of Kayla's story much more. But her childish pity party behavior causes more pain for herself than is necessary. Seth's letter, completely choked me up and had the tears pouring. I understand what kind of pain sexual assault can cause. Of course, mine didn't go on for years, and there were no beatings or torture. I can definitely understand she was afraid of Edwynn and Elijah, and felt she had to put a stop to them. But I feel Kayla took her anger and hatred to far against her father too far. On to a better note, after all the pain past is put to rest. Kayla and her litter Dysfunctional family, as she calls it. All enjoy the holidays together, with the greatest gift of discovering she and Garrett are going to be parents, and later in the become husband and wife. An amazingly beautiful ending, to a tragic beginning.
**I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. **
I have been waiting for this book to come out for awhile. While I very much loved the first book, it had some structural issue. However, this wasn't the case with book 2 in the series. Kayla's past is still playing havoc on her life while she tries to move forward. Garrett while right there with her, still guards himself not totally believing his love for her will win out. I found myself totally on the edge of my seat, with everything happening in this story. Certainly a must read, but be for warned that this is for mature audiences only. This also must be read after reading book one. Kudos to Ms. Stevens for making me love the characters and providing a great ending to their story. 4.7/5 . cross posting to My Reading Reality.
I did enjoy the book but for me the foul language was too much. I could see how it fit with the plot and the characters but it distracted me from the story as a whole. The story is a view of how all of us that have been through abuse would like to see revenge exacted. I did like the characters and the strong personalities presented in this work that involved so many deep emotional issues. The story flowed very well and there was continuous action. I made the mistake of reading Book 2 first and hope that other readers will avoid this mistake as it is sometimes hard to know where I am in the story.
This was a great story ! The first was good but needed so grammar corrections. This one was much better with its grammar and was written well Kayla fought for what she needed and wanted with a lot of family side drama but fought she did and get what she wanted ~~ oh yes !! she needed and wanted to rebuild her life and feel and give love as it should be given and received. Again the side characters are well written and they all mesh together well. I enjoyed this book I would definitely recommend it
Wow! Book two threw me through a loop! Somethings caught me by surprise and had me thinking what the hell! An emotional read. As Kayla finds out truths about where she truly comes from and how she came to be. Kayla shows her true strength throughout this book and shows that even when life throws you through hell, you need to stand your ground and not be afraid to let people in. A Great Read! Check it out!
Gifted a copy for an honest review. This is the continuation of Kayla's story. Layla Stevens has taken me on another ride with twists and turns. Kayla finds strength, truth, realizes who she is and what she holds inside herself. You get emotion, drama, revenge and love. Well done Layla Stevens for keeping me on the edge of my seat. Will Layla be able to overcome her past or have her future that she deserves?
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I liked this book, and enjoyed how the author managed to wrap everything up and still end the book on a happy note even with all the twists and turns that the two main characters went through. While much better then the first book, this book still left me feeling like something was missing or off somehow. However, I did enjoy it, and would recommend it to others.
I love this book because it is a story how you can be damaged and never completely broken. How love and life and all the in betweens are all worth it. This book is well written and the characters complete. The detail that went into this book is phenomenal. I only wish some details weren't left out. I would recommend this book to Anyone over 18 as there is lots of adult content.
Layla's attempt at a psychological thrilling romance has been for the most part successful. I really enjoyed the book. I still feel there was "something" missing, but it is something I can't quite put my finger on without further dissection of every letter in the book.
I believe that she has coined the beginning of an entirely new genre--Psychological romance!
This author surprised me in this book. As much suspense that was in both this one and the first there was a lot of things I that kept you interested. It just wasn't for me though. Writing was good but idea for how Kayla was in the books was not how I expected her to act after all she's been through. I think it was a little too much immaturity. But the story line is good.
I really enjoyed the conclusion to Kayla's story. The poor woman had been through so much abuse and I was hoping she'd get a happy ending. Kayla is able to get her revenge and also learn about her parentage. A few twists make it an interesting read. The only negative is that there were some spelling mistakes and problems with the grammar. Overall, Layla Stevens should be very proud of her book!
A Heartbreaking Must Read I can't really explain in words how much I enjoyed reading this book. If you like emotional rollercoaster ugly cry books than YOU HAVE TO READ THIS ONE. Make sure you read book one first
I received this book from Hurricane Readers for an honest review! This is book 2 in the 2 book series! It picked up right where book 1 ended! And I was lucky enough to have this book when I finished book 1! I really loved this series! It is a must read!
I wanted this book to be better than the first, but after all the books I've read you think I'd know better. I enjoy books that are a little more realistic. I understand Kayla was savagely abused but what she got away with in this book just doesn't seem realistic to me.
Now that I've finished Kayla's story all I can say is at least I know what happened. This book, along with Book 1, had so much potential. There were so many missed opportunities I feel, if explored, could have made this tome spellbinding instead of disappointing.
I enjoyed reading more about Kayla and Garrett. Kayla has had a life of Hell and it kind of makes you happy to know that she has finally found the love that she craved hee whole life. My major fault with the book just like the first in the series is the poor editing and elementary speech.
