Adrenaline Crush

Rate this book
Extreme-sport junkie, Cameron, is every woman's dream. Except he's not the fall-in-love kinda guy. Cam's friend with benefits, Swedish Ingela, can't stop loving on-and-off-again boyfriend, Bo, even though it's killing her. Moving on seems impossible. And don't longtime loves deserve (yet another) second chance?

***Warning: this new adult novel contains strong language and explicit love***

CAMERON
Life’s the sh*t!
Chicks squeal over how wild and yummy I am, play their silly games trying to tie me down. But I’m free as a bird, doing what makes life life: kicking extreme-sport-ass!

I base jump, snowboard, bungee jump. I do anything for the rush.

Then, Ingela blows into town for college—a cool Swedish blast of trouble. Foulmouthed and runway-gorgeous, the girl seeps in like poison and melts the freaking brain.

To Ingela I am what chicks were to me: pastime, leisure, entertainment, pleasure. She’s killing me, and I’m digging it. There’s a new rush in town! Yeah, I hunt down my highs, and now the chase is on. I’ll catch her soon enough, just, what’s the deal with her ex?

BO
With Ingela, sex is a dance. A slow tango where skin flows over skin. It is slick readiness, a quiet welcome. It’s smooth, warm, right, and all wrong.

On and off. On and off. Again, she’s wrecked with grief. It’s a reminder of how I destroy her, how crushed relationships shouldn’t be revived.

We’ve done this for years, now, but clearly we’re in for more.

What did I think? I loved writing this black sheep.

Although, really, this book wrote itself. I knew Ingela and Cameron already from Leon's Way. So well. Of course, tons of editing and filtering went in afterward, but with the first draft I was just a bystander, an onlooker, jotting down the train wreck they created as it happened. Inga, Bo, and Cameron, had a life of their own. They talked, acted, fought, made up, while I watched. I guess that's what happens when you work with side characters from a former book?

Adrenaline is a full-on standalone, and the reader will not miss out on anything if you haven't read my former books in the Deepsilver series. Still, most of the action in Pandora Wild Child and in Leon's Way plays out in the same bar, Smother, in the little college town of Deepsilver.

These are my main reasons for loving Adrenaline so much: I wrote the story and the characters in the most realistic way I know. I wanted it to be hilarious. Heartbreaking. Heart-healing. I took chances. Allowed Ingela to be herself to the point of knowing that not everyone will love her. Even if you do love her with all of her idiosyncrasies, you'll have moments where you want to smack her upside the head. And that's cool!

As usual, like with any black sheep of a book, I expect low reader ratings and high ones. The "meh, have no opinion" stars in the middle, I expect less of. So there's that. For a few days upon release, April 30th-May 2nd, I'll be keeping it at 30% off regular price on Amazon. Just a heads up. :)

***** 5 Cranky Stars *****

This book is funny, sweet, angst-ridden, thought-provoking, and touching. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author, but it won’t be the last.

Adrenaline centers on Ingela, who moved from Sweden to start over and go to college in the States. She has a complicated love-hate affair with Bo, her ex and the love of her life. She loves for the adrenaline rush she gets every time she’s with him and hates the effect he has on her.
Like many of us can relate, Ingela believes Bo was her one and only chance at true love, but her heart can only take so much.

Enter Cameron: Mr. McHotness, an extreme sports loving adrenaline junkie. He works at the bar, Smother, with Ingela and they become good friends. She amuses him and let me just say, Ingela’s use of language in this work made me (and Cameron) laugh out loud. They keep the boundaries in tact until one night when the safety valves come off.

This book was amazing. I laughed so hard at Ingela and Cameron's antics. Even the supporting characters had me in stitches. If you enjoy unusual love affairs, use of language, and laughing until your stomach hurts: highly recommended.

Fans of Dee's Pandora, Wild Child and Leon's Way will devour this book! And they should. Because this is such a great read. The characters? Dee's best work yet!

Let's start with Ingela--Inga. She's from Sweden and with Dee being originally from Norway, you can just tell she had fun writing this character! Inga is fun, energetic, and LOUD! Which is absolutely hilarious. It's easy to see how she and Cameron hit it off from the start. But Inga is still not sure how far she wants to go with Cam since she can't get her ex out of her system.

Cameron--Cam. Oh, man! This guy is an adrenaline junky, as the title of this book suggests. Extreme sports gets his blood pumping and gives him the highs he craves. Until it's no longer what he craves. Not when a loud, crazy, equally-eccentric Swedish blonde begins to make him lose control.

This couple is perfect for each other right from the start, if only they'd open their eyes and see it!

Adrenaline is a fun-loving ride of craziness, heartache, hilarity, and passion. If you love books that make you love, scream, laugh, and drool over it's characters, then this one is for you.

I can't wait to see what Dee comes up with next!

ARC generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I honestly don't even know where to begin with this review. Reading this story was like slamming vodka shots chased by red bulls! It's a high energy story written fast-paced. I read this story so fast that I thought maybe I was not reading detailed enough, but that wasn't the case! The story drew me to read fast. I was on a serious HIGH while I read this story. So much so, that I ran to put Leon's Way on my #immediate TBR!
OK, so the story is sort of a love triangle but not really. There ARE three people in the story and on the surface you might call this a love triangle, but its not. Lets talk a little about these three kids and see if you understand better what I'm trying to convey.
First there's Bo. Bo is the guy every most young women learn to hate. And he's also the one they always run back to. He'll tell you he cares. He'll tell you you're the most important woman in the world to him. He'll tell you he loves you. Until he doesn't. He'll tell you its for your own good. He'll tell you you deserve better. Until he doesn't. And young girls FLOCK to Bos. WHY you ask? Because they have no experience or life growth to stop them. It's basic and it's natural. It's just the way it is.
Let's move on to Ingela. Yeah, she's THAT chic. She's the chic that runs back. Every time. Even if she has something better or different or just else, she will still run back. Because she needs the attention she needs the high the Bos of the world give a chic like her. It's basic and natural and normal.
Now let's talk a little about Cameron. Cameron is what I refer to as the third wheel in life. But not for the traditional reasons you are thinking. He's the guy who will hold back. Take it all in. And he will wait ... patiently. And you wanna know why? Because the Cameron's of the world know that slow and steady ALWAYS wins the race. And the day he met Ingela, he knew it would be a race to the HEA and he was gonna get there first! And guess what? He did! #smile

This story was absolute perfection. Sunniva Dee wrote the perfect plot for these three characters to have. Their roles were exactly what they were supposed to be. They're not my age group, but I'm not too old that I don't remember making these same choices when it came to matters of the heart and relationships and friendships and mixing things and jumping without looking! When you read this story, you should go thru a lot of emotions, and you will probably love and hate every one of these kids at some point, but they're real! And you cant ask for better out of a fictional story. We got real people, in real life situations, making very realistic choices. I absolutely loved it!

So, future readers, when you read this story, and I say when because I have no doubt in my mind everyone that comes across this book will read it, be prepared. You will love. You will hate. You will scream. You'll be frustrated. You'll even maybe want to just stop reading. But know THIS .... in the end, what you get is love and friendship and growth and understanding and true heart-warmth. So no matter how much you want to kill Bo or slap Ingela or smack-down Cameron, don't give up on them because you will not get a better, more realistic, high paced fun and sexy story out there! TRUST!

Sunniva totally outdid herself with Adrenaline! This story is golden. I mean you feel so much: Passion, Raw Emotion, Humor, Sadness, and Love. Man, love and heartache drips from every page! Cam is playful and totally reminds me of a big teddy bear. He’s into extreme sports, like jumps without thinking, and he scared the crap out of my a few times. Ingela is so freaking funny! She’s from Sweden and her English slang is so off at times you can’t help but laugh. Together these two steam up the page. Their chemistry is off the charts, but so is Ingela and Bo's…. Enter another hottie! There isn’t really a love-triangle here, but, um, yeah. I can’t give anymore details or it’ll give the entire book away. You experience so many highs and lows, but it’s worth every bit of your time. I always relate my stories with songs, and two came to mind while reading Adrenaline: Florida Georgia Line’s Sipping On Fire (Cam and Ingela;s song) and Taylor Swift’s Style (Bo and Ingela's song)!

ARC given in exchange for an honest review

I really enjoyed reading this story. I have never read any books by this author and I can tell you that I was not disappointed. This book will keep you on your toes with all the wild, extreme adrenaline that goes thru this story. You will have all different kinds of emotions reading this book. The author knows how to draw you into the book and keep you focused.

Cameron is an extreme adrenaline junkie who will do anything to feel the rush. He ends up meeting Inga who is not any normal girl. She is from Sweden and knows how to handle Cameron and gives back his attitude.

Inga is still in love with her ex-boyfriend Bo and can't seem to cut ties with him. Inga will always run back to Bo every time he calls her. However after spending time with Cameron, Inga starts to realize some things.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a romantic love story that will form between two people and not even realize it. It's a story that will touch your heart.

Great job to the author.

I was lucky to be one of the arc readers. And all I can say is wow truly wow. I have never had a book that made me so frustrated and mad at one of the main characters. I had to stop reading through the book because all I wanted to do was reach in and shake her and slap her up the side of the head and tell her to stop doing this to her self, always running back and putting herself in that heartache with Bo . What can I say about Cameron but wow. When you read about Cameron you can totally feel all the emotions that he goes through and the adrenaline that he feels when he's with her or when he's BASE jumping or snowboarding or bungee jumping.
What a awesome read I would recommend this book to everyone I know for the first time in a long time this is one book that made me feel happy joy angry frustrated throughout the whole book.

Received an ARC copy from author for a honest review. OMG! This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster and kept me there. To be honest in the beginning Ingela's yo-yo back and forth from her ex Bo and Cameron, her best friend drove me nuts and made me want to smack her. After the number of years for their relationship not working out, sometimes you finally have to let go and move on. Sometimes love isn't enough or strong enough. Ingela had a hard time letting go. Loved Cameron despite his man-whore ways. He was a great guy and friend but always looking for the next rush no matter how dangerous it was. Cameron and Ingela are good for each other but had a hard time seeing it due to all the drama that kept coming up. An anxiety high and drama crazed book filled with passion. Overall a pretty good read!

I given this book by the author for an honest review.
Wow.this book is full of love , heartbreak, fun, sexiness, and adrenaline. The characters come alive and the storyline is awesome. I really liked Inge and how she struggled with her on again off again love with Bo. She is a strong, independent woman who has to decide if the heartbreak is worth the love. Excellent read and would love to read more by the author.

This one just wasn't for me. I can deal with love triangles but not bed hopping between two guys. Once that happened, I just didn't care about any of the characters enough to really be invested in the story. Others might like this, it just didn't work for me.

So I want to be perfectly honest, something really strange happened to me when I started reading this book. I'm not sure if it was the writing style or the flow of the book or the fact that I just finished reading my favorite series of books in the history of books, but I read the first four chapters and I just couldn't get into it. It's not that it was bad, because based on my rating it clearly wasn't, something was just off with me. So I made the executive decision to put the book down read another novella in the interim and then go back and start this one over. Boy was I glad I did!! That's when the strange thing happened, I started over at the beginning and I loved it! I was literally wondering what the hell I had been thinking the first time because I got into it so easily the second time. So lets chalk that up to me being off.....not the book.

I was warned before starting the book that I would love Cam, but that Ingela was hard to love. As you can imagine, I was so pleasantly surprised to find out that for me nothing could be farther from the truth. I loved Inga, I got Inga. I completely believed Inga. I thought she was fun and funny and feisty and had a great, dirty sense of humor. And I love a girl with a dirty sense of humor. I loved that she went with the flow and was up for anything. But I also felt like I completely understood her mindset when it came to the two men in her life. She liked Cam. They were great friends then they were great friends with benefits and she liked that too. She had fun hanging with him, he made her world fun and bright. But I also understood that she was in love with Bo for a long time, since she was a kid and he was the one that broke her heart. It made total sense to me that when he reached out to her and tried to pull her back to him, she would feel that pull. I also believed that the pull towards Bo was utterly and complete separate from her feelings for Cam. Letting go is hard, especially when something new is so unsure.

Cam was just fun. It's been a long time since I read a male lead that was just so much fun! Daredevil, bad boy, adrenaline junkie and occasional dirty talker. He was funny...and always trying to get laid. And it was pretty funny watching him try to get laid. But he was also a good friend to Inga. A damn great friend actually, the way he took care of her was beautiful to watch.

I think my favorite thing about this book was that the story was so different. I have read tons of many books and so often the characters and situations are repetitive. The opposite was true with this book, like the roles were almost reversed . Cam was the fun one, he was the caregiver, he was the first one to realize that this was more than just a hook up. He protected her and looked out for Inga and took her back, no questions asked, when she was confused about Bo's place in her life. Inga was the emotional, moody one in the relationship. She was the one who had an entirely separate relationship going on on the side. She was the one who was afraid to commit to Cam. It was refreshing.

I really, really liked this book. Without spoiling anything, I'm going to say what set this book apart for me were two situations that occur in a lot of books, that I felt were handled more believably and more true to life by Sunniva in this book than in any other book I've ever read. BUT....I can't tell you what they are without spoiling so......

OH....and did I mention this book was fun? Crazy fun? Cam is crazy and funny and silly (but still super hot) and Inga is just as crazy (if not more so) and so easy going. Guaranteed they will make you laugh...out loud.

 photo Adrenaline_zps4lndamnv.jpg

Ingela and Cameron pulled my attention from Leon's Way. And finally they get to have their own story. And Ingela's on and off boyfriend, Bo. So, as you can see, this is a love triangle that will pull in so many different directions. So buckle and get ready to feel all the adrenaline rush to your body and get sucked into this chaotic romance. Steamy scenes that will panting. Drool worthy and a page turner. You won't want to miss Cameron and his 20 inches.(winks)

 photo BrightAdrenaline_zpsevt3syk4.jpg

Ingela holds a torch for Bo, whom she's known for so many years. She can't seem to move on, with Bo still gives her hopes to have a real relationship. Always there when he's in need but can't give her what she needs. Bo tells her that he loves her and then the next day say that she deserves someone who would love you the way you'd want to be loved. As for her relationship with Cameron, they've always had this chemistry that is so intense and out of control. Which was totally what I prefer. Compare to the hot and cold, Bo. Yet, somehow Ingela, would still drop everything for Bo. She cannot decide who she really wants to be with. It's one of the things I hated about Ingela. I wanted to get into my iPad and smack her silly, to knock some sense into her.

 photo TxtAdrenaline_zps9c7jgul9.jpg

I was team CAMERON, from the get. Even if he was a lost soul and a very horny one, might I say. No matter what, he would always put Ingela first in line. They have become best friends for years. They never knew that what they wanted all along was right in front of them. I didn't like all the things that happened to Cameron and Ingela before they realized that things are what they should've been. Ingela and Cameron. He has a secret that could be the one thing that will ruin their chance to be exclusive.

Just when I thought that Sunniva Dee couldn't possibly write a book that would be better than her previous novels – BAM! – she amazed me once again by writing not just an outstanding story, but an absolutely AMAZING story with so much of everything I love in a romance novel – love, humor, heartache and hot, sizzling romance. Adrenaline is the perfect title for this story because your heart will race ninety miles a minute as you go on this journey with Ingela, Cameron and Bo.

We met Ingela and Cameron in Leon’s Way and I was so happy that a whole story was devoted to them. Ingela is a student who moved to the states from Sweden and I just love this girl with her quirky humor. The way she totally messes up when it comes to American slang is outright hilarious! Then there is Cameron – dear, sweet, sexy Cameron. This boy has a serious death wish as he loves to push the limits in order to feel the rush – the adrenaline. He is testing fate and one day fate will bite back - you just know that it will. Ingela and Cameron both work at Smother, the local bar, and have become really good friends – friends with benefits that is. They are so freaking cute together! And then there is Bo. The relationship with Ingela and Bo goes way back and for lack of a better word is toxic. They both love each other, but can never seem to stay together. Whenever they break up (which is quite a bit), Ingela goes to a really dark place. Thankfully, Cameron is there to pick up the pieces left behind. But will Cameron and Ingela finally realize that what they feel for each other is real and go beyond the friendship zone or will Ingela’s heart stay in the past with Bo?

This book is wonderfully written and filled with the angst filled drama that we have come to expect from the talented Sunniva Dee. I was so drawn into this fantastic story as the romance and drama was utterly intriguing which kept me engrossed the entire time. I loved Cameron and Ingela’s story and I know other readers will as well.

Overall, this was a brilliantly intriguing read that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.

ARC provided by the author in exchange on an honest review.

This is the first time a read a book by this author and just LOVED it!!! The author did an excellent job writing this book. The personalities of the main characters are perfect, and the chemistry between them is amazing. It's a beautiful story about two people falling in love without realizing what was happening with them and when they only thought they were just messing around.

This book made laugh a lot, it made me swoon over Cameron (Ms. Sunniva Dee now I want my own Cameron!!) made me love and hate Inga, it made me love every scene and interaction with the secondary characters even with little Lyric. I love how it was written from Cameron and Inga's POV but you could totally see the difference because of their personalities.

The sex scenes were perfect too, very erotic, you could feel the attraction between them, and although the were very explicit, didn't fall into a vulgar or porn category. They were perfectly written for each feeling and emotion. It's been a while since I truly enjoyed reading a book so much, and reading Adrenaline was a total pleasure, I was so hooked from the very first words. I also loved the fact that the author initiated and ended the book with Bo's POV, I think it was pretty clever and original.

In conclusion this is a MUST in every reader TBR list. And of course I'm looking forward to read Bo and Leon's stories.

Another great hit from this lovely author. Sunniva I so enjoy you fun quirky characters. They are real, flawed and easy to fall for . You may read this book as a stand alone but please do yourself a favor and begin with Pandora's Child and Leon's Way to have the full effect of the history and storyline.
Cameron is always looking for his next fix. He will do anything to get his adrenaline pumping he is living on the edge and loving it from snowboard to cliff jumping he has run the extreme sport gamit. He lives his life in the fast lane and goes through women faster than you can blink an eye. Women love those bad boys!
Ingela is a sweet, smart foul mouthed Swedish gal with knockout looks and a sassy attitude to go with it. Her interoperation of the English language is hysterical but a huge part of her charm. She and Cam have flirted around each other since they can remember. They love to push each others buttons and eventually have settled into a cute friendship that suddenly takes them on a new road that neither expected!
Sunniva made me experience every emotion in this journey. They are sexy , smart funny and also heartbreaking. You sometimes are unable to see what you need when it is right in front of you!
I was gifted this book for an honest review.

This review is from: Adrenaline: An Ode to Love and Heartbreak (Kindle Edition)

Now I have read all of Sunniva Dee's books but this one, this one is just WOW!!! From beginning to end I found myself arguing with the characters if that makes any sense...lol! Each of her characters in this book are very well developed but yet complex at the same time. Cameron is a gorgeous green eyed blonde hair adrenaline junkie who needs to take part in extreme sports of any kind to get a rush out of life...until Ingela came along. She herself had her addictions one being Bo. He would call and she would run to him. There was a connection there that she wasn't willing to let go of just yet, but when she and Cameron were together the connection and chemistry between the two was like no other. The love scenes are extremely hot and sexy, the storyline suspenseful and hopeful. I loved everything about this book even though Ingela drove me crazy at times with her decisions but its what made this read so much fun. I would absolutely recommend this read to everyone

I really liked this book. Was a great read and the characters make you laugh and fall in love. I love the way Cameron and ingela fall in love and progress their relationship. I didn't enjoy how ingela and bo relationship was portrayed it felt a little to much like ingela had no spine with him. But overall I really enjoyed how she grew overcame her obstacle. The story line is a little different and I had to keep reading just to find out what would happen. No typical twist here. This was my first time reading this aurthor and I really enjoyed the writing style. Will definitely be adding more of her books to my list. Great buy can't wait for Dan's story

5 Heart Racing Stars/Electrified Guitars for Adrenaline Crush

There is only a small bit of rockstar romance in this one, but there is a bit more than a touch. It is also basically the prequel to Walking Heartbreak, so for those reasons it gets guitars, but stars as well because it really has more extreme sports than music. Regardless of how you want to classify it, it is beautifully hot, touching, funny- literal laugh out loud moments. Inga is absolutely awesome in her mixed up translations and her, to quote Iggy Pop, lust for life. The girl is everything I would have dreamed of being at her age. Vivacious is probably the perfect world. Her snark is as amazing as it is hilarious, but the passion she gives everything is simply beautiful, in good and bad times. And I have to admire her almost complete lack of filter. She just rocks.

Yeah, I am working backwards through this series, and it is actually working rather well for me. Having met Leon and Arria in this book has made me want to know more about them, so I will continue slinking back.

Highly recommended for both my rockstar girls and those who aren't. There really is a bit of something for just about everyone, and I finally got those laughs I was looking for immediately before I picked up In the Absence of You, being fully warned about how dark it was. Sometimes there is an unseen method to my madness I suppose. Just read this one, and let me know your favorite Inga-isms.

This is my favourite Sunniva Dee book so far, I absolutely love sparky Ingela and cheeky Cam. Their chemistry is off the charts, with all their playful banter and inappropriate behaviour.

They say you never forget your first love and for Ingela that definitely seems the case with the constant draw Bo has on her, he changes her whole personality, while pulling all her strings.

Cam is a an extreme sport fan, always chasing the thrill. He is cheeky and upbeat, a ray of light. I absolutely loved him. Watching the two of them interact really warmed my heart.

No spoilers but these two and their self destruction broke my heart, thank goodness they finally got their acts together, I would have had to break my kindle otherwise.

I hope we see more of these two in the future. 5 Stars!!!
