Just like I had hoped, this volume of Kamisama Kiss brings us back to everyday life at the shrine. We learn more about Nanami’s past, get a glimpse of a yokai market, and later travel into the world of the swamp yokai — all of it flows nicely and keeps the story varied.
This was another really great volume. What I love most about Nanami is that she doesn’t stand out because of overwhelming magical power, but because of who she is. She’s smart, outspoken, and wears her heart on her sleeve, which makes her such a wonderful main character. The different settings in this volume also worked really well for me and made sure the story never felt boring.
As always, I’m looking forward to continuing the series, even if I’ll have to wait a little while this time.
